The overall tone of this is confusing at first. It does have the Biblical ring to it, with the Jesus/Devil/angel/demon references, and then (of course) the sexual ring to it. With the reference to the Devil, Maynard is writing about how, to him, the (sexy) Devil comes in the form of a very sexual, inviting woman. He's sinning by being with her. This gives a hint as maybe he thinks of himself as an angel (typical Maynard!). Maybe infidelity comes into thought, for why would he be sinning to be with such a beautiful, sexual woman? He tries to justify what he does by bringing Jesus into the situation. This woman is so inviting that even Jesus would betray his mothing (Virgin Mary) to be with her, which again implies that Maynard is betraying the significant female in his life, be it mother, sister, wife, etc. Ahh, you've got to love Maynard. |
