PointsmewithoutYou – Fox's Dream of the Log Flume Lyrics | 8 years ago |
I'm pretty sure its: "You're looking down at the water, out at the sea. I asked her, '___ have a reoccuring fantasy where you push little kids from the tops of the rides?'" "They're howling for answers no wolf can know." |
mewithoutYou – Goodbye, I! Lyrics | 11 years ago |
thank you so much, this is great! |
mewithoutYou – Cattail Down Lyrics | 11 years ago |
i found this today (by rumi, of course!) “when you are with everyone but me, you’re with no one. when you are with no one but me, you’re with everyone. instead of being so bound up with everyone, be everyone. when you become that many, you’re nothing. empty.” - rumi it sounds similar, sounds applicable to the song. i think it also helps it make sense. |
mewithoutYou – Fig with a Bellyache Lyrics | 11 years ago |
thecomaboy.... thanks... thanks a lot.... |
Sufjan Stevens – Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing Lyrics | 11 years ago |

Sufjan Stevens – Christmas in July Lyrics | 11 years ago |
haha... oh, sufjan. the crazy, constantly-changing time signatures give me an anxiety attack. |
Sufjan Stevens – Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella Lyrics | 11 years ago |
it almost sounds like they recorded it on something lo-fi, and then played that back and recorded it on something else... if that makes sense. |
mewithoutYou – Bullet to Binary (Pt. Two) Lyrics | 11 years ago |
i really like the end of this song. the whole idea of reaping what one sows, and tying that into forgiveness... "so why not forgive everyone, everywhere, everything, all the time..." aaron seems to be saying that if you forgive people, you will also be rewarded with forgiveness. and this is in line with the Lord's prayer - "and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us." |
mewithoutYou – Timothy Hay Lyrics | 11 years ago |
changed1ntofire - you're right! i don't know how i missed that. hahaha, thank you. justplainNJ, i think "broke the news to mom" is right. so that's what i changed it to. =) thanks! |
mewithoutYou – Fig with a Bellyache Lyrics | 11 years ago |
thank you shadowami! i was curious about those lines, too... didn't really seem like aaron, but i suppose it fits in with the general mwY themes of fallen humanity and the imperfections that Christians may struggle with. crude, yes. unexpected, yes. |
mewithoutYou – Bullet to Binary (Pt. Two) Lyrics | 11 years ago |
"let us die, let us die...." "lettuce grows, lettuce grows..." hahahaha. |
mewithoutYou – Every Thought a Thought of You Lyrics | 11 years ago |
hooray!! not what i was expected, but still endearing. |
Sufjan Stevens – Ya Leil Lyrics | 12 years ago |
thank you, ephner! |
Panda Bear – O Please Bring Her Back Lyrics | 12 years ago |
do you think the singer is speaking to G-d, asking Him to sit with him/stay through the night/etc.? or that he is using His name for emphasis, but still speaking to the girl? |
Vampire Weekend – Oxford Comma Lyrics | 12 years ago |
LP33, that article is hilarious! oh, vampire weekend... they've always got something sarcastically clever to say. |
Sufjan Stevens – Seven Swans Lyrics | 12 years ago |
if a biblical interpretation were taken, what would the "fire in the yard" and the trees being "in light" be referencing in revelation? |
mewithoutYou – O, Porcupine Lyrics | 12 years ago |
in reading the gospel of thomas, i found this, referencing the last verse =] v45 - Jesus said, "Grapes are not harvested from thorns, nor are figs gathered from thistles, for they do not produce fruit. A good man brings forth good from his storehouse; an evil man brings forth evil things from his evil storehouse, which is in his heart, and says evil things. For out of the abundance of the heart he brings forth evil things." |
Sufjan Stevens – In the Words of the Governor Lyrics | 12 years ago |
this song is so great. it's so unexpected, coming from sufjan. but he did a great job with it, regardless! i wish it was easier to understand! |
mewithoutYou – The King Beetle on a Coconut Estate Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Two)" "Timothy Hay" "The Angel of Death Came to David's Room" "A Fig With a Belly Ache" "Goodbye, I" "The Beetle King on the Coconut Estate" "Every Blade of Grass" "Whatever Goes, Let it Go" |
Sufjan Stevens – Springfield, or Bobby Got a Shadfly Caught in His Hair Lyrics | 12 years ago |
i was always under the impression that "my father took his life for the national plan" meant that he committed suicide so that his family would get the money from his life insurance. i'm sure if that's a good interpretation at all (can life insurance be called a "national plan"?) but for some reason that's what i've always thought. |
mewithoutYou – The Angel of Death Came to David's Room Lyrics | 12 years ago |
i cannot WAIT for the next album. mewithoutYou keeps changing and changing and producing such different, beautiful sounds. |
Devendra Banhart – Canela Lyrics | 12 years ago |
hahaha... valrus.... as much as a love love love devendra, i have to wholeheartedly agree. |
mewithoutYou – My Exit, Unfair Lyrics | 12 years ago |
"talking all about the second and third, when i haven't understood the first." does anyone else see this is maybe talking about the Trinity? how inane it is to ascribe more parts to G-d, when we can never even fully understand the One. |
mewithoutYou – The Soviet Lyrics | 12 years ago |
i always end up thinking he says "for now, stay out, i don't need this." like he is telling the temptations to stay out... "for now". he knows he doesn't need them, but he is still slightly attached to his sins and temptations. if you take the stance of interpreting this as talking about sexual sins, he knows that what he is doing is wrong, but well, we all know... sexual temptations are hard to put off. you can tell yourself that many times "stay out, i don't need this." but, it always ends up turning into "for now..." |
mewithoutYou – C-Minor Lyrics | 12 years ago |
anyone notice the potter street fire reference? |
mewithoutYou – Nice and Blue (Pt. Two) Lyrics | 12 years ago |
do you think the mention of the "commonwealth" is maybe a story of something that happened when he was staying at the Simple Way? |
mewithoutYou – I Never Said That I Was Brave Lyrics | 12 years ago |
there is definitely a smiths' reference, i think. i noticed the nmh reference, too. this may be an ignorant question, but who sings the acoustic version? |
Psalters – Badlands Lyrics | 12 years ago |
i'm so glad the lyrics got put up for this. this was one of my first favorites, and still holds a place in my heart... i just wasn't quite sure what all the lyrics are. now the song means even more. =] |
mewithoutYou – The King Beetle on a Coconut Estate Lyrics | 12 years ago |
so brilliant. does anyone know when this album should be coming out? |
Psalters – Banner wave high for the lowly Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Jeff Buckley – Alligator Wine (Screamin' Jay Hawkins cover) Lyrics | 12 years ago |
cracks me up. i listen to this when i need a good giggle. |
Gregory and the Hawk – A Wish Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"i wish to feel smaller under your sheets/hands" is it possible that she's wanting to feel protected by him? it feels nice to feel small in someone's embrace, sometimes. perhaps that's what she could mean? i wish i felt protected around you. i wish you could love me as much as i love you; i wish you put all of yourself into this relationship ? |
Saosin – Penelope Lyrics | 13 years ago |
i don't really see what's wrong with the song being about a goldfish. it's simple, it can still be heartfelt. it doesn't have to be about a girl. it doesn't have to be about a girl that drinks, does drugs, cuts herself, or anything. it doesn't have to go any deeper than a pet fish that's dying. it's cute like that. also, playradioplay! did a cover. it's pretty interesting; i like it. |
Animal Collective – Loch Raven Lyrics | 13 years ago |
powerfulpowerfulpowerful. |
Animal Collective – Did You See the Words Lyrics | 13 years ago |
i definitely have the feeling that this is a super sexual song. i agree with the "mine is messy yours is nine" part. meaning his sexual function is messy, hers is nine months of pregnancy. tangled in arms and legs could refer to the actual intercourse. and of course the first stanza having to do with menstration. i love the feeling of this song. like avey recognizes the sexual relationship with his girl, and how it ties into the more everlasting type of love. the tight bond between sex and love. i adore it. =]] |
A Hawk and a Hacksaw – Portlandtown Lyrics | 13 years ago |
and as a plus, it was amazing live. |
A Hawk and a Hacksaw – Portlandtown Lyrics | 13 years ago |

harsh =O but amazing |
Bright Eyes – The Calendar Hung Itself . . . Lyrics | 14 years ago |
well, yea, by saying he 'drug' her ghost across the country, he's saying he dragged it, but in correct english XD kind of like luggage... excess luggage =P but, i also see how it could mean that he actually 'drugged' it, like with... well, drugs. and i also disagree about it not being a good song for the first time hearing bright eyes. my friends don't like bright eyes, but they really like this song. i just admire the passion in the song. it's so electric; kind of urgent. and i love the way he did it live: he sang the first 'you are my sunshine, my only sunshine' quietly, then he yelled the second line. it put so much emotion into it. and is he really saying ''right'' after "you make me happy when my skies are gray"?? I thought he was just... screaming. and about the tomato field: i always got the impression that someone was buried there or something. like maybe her father had an uncontrollable temper, and maybe he killed her mother or something. and just generally took his anger out on the girl. and the irony stands out - ripe, red tomatos are growing over something dark and secretive. and i also agree that the girl's broken jaw could be taken figuratively. and to sum it up... i freaking love this song. |
Backseat Goodbye – Hey Lyrics | 14 years ago |
makes you cringe for... what reason? no reason. |
