Lyrically, the best song they've written, (we're excluding hybrid theory of course).
Musically, a giant step from Minutes to Midnight, which was decent, but not amazing.

For the song meaning: Doug Robb stated in an interview that it was about our soldiers across seas, and if he had to be put in a position, in a foreign land, away from his wife, this is how it would feel. So its about our soldiers in Iraq, Afghan, and anywhere else they are. Good Job Hooba! |

Who the crap?.....this song is about their former i think drummer, possibly guitarist, i think guitarist, he sued the band during the making of "in the wake of determination" and so they wrote a song about him, hence the title "sure your friends (the band) pay your enemies" and multiple song titles are diff on this then they lsited, this song is now pay your enemey, meathead is now jarhead, and i think thats it. |

I think this song has multiple meanings honestly. I believe they speak on how society is so uptight on looks, if we're gay or not, and other things like that that we look past our true meaning. then i beleive the next line is about a history character...ahh i wish i could remember his name, but i b elieve he even asked "is this my fate" and after that they condemned him to burn.
Now, one of the most powerful rock songs in history, i'm serious too, this surpases elvis, the beatles, sex pistols, led zeppelin, all of 'em. This song will keep you movin and rockin with a head bang. |
