Van Halen – Panama Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I have to say that the lyric seems constructed in a similar fashion as Led Zeppelin's "Trampled Underfoot" was, relating a car to a woman, and sex. ^____^ |
Rush – The Rhythm Method Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The only reason I put this song into the directory was so there would be a place for people to comment on Neil Peart's drum ability, and have conversations/arguments about it. Better to do it here than in another song. =] |
Rush – The Weapon (Part II of Fear) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I was listening to it one day, and I think I figured out what it means. The song is actually quite literal for Peart. It's basically saying that something a person fears, whether it be knowledge, weaponry, or something else, is a "Weapon to be held/used against them/him". (Which does include, but not limited to, nuclear weaponry.) |
Led Zeppelin – Wearing and Tearing Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song was made around the time "In Through The Out Door" came out; you know, one of those songs that didn't make the cut. (If you can tell, Plant's voice is drowned out a bit, just like in "Carouselambra".) Plant, however, immediately thought that this song should be made into a single, because he liked it so much. By the way, Jimmy Page didn't have an amazing UK Tax Bill when this song came out. He was in tax exile, along with the rest of the band, at the time. And yes, heyjude55, your friend is a dumbass. Robert Plant had a solo career after Zeppelin broke up, and his voice was still excellent throughout that. 8D And to answer the question I'm supposed to be answering, I think the song is aimed at those who used to be fans of Rock, but switched to Punk. Plant's saying something along the lines of "Now that you're listening to that, aren't you still craving our kind of music? Is it better than ours? No." |
Rush – YYZ Lyrics | 17 years ago |
That made me laugh a lot. =] Not much else to say. It's already been said. |
Rush – Working Man Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Since it was so early on in Rush's career, the song was probably taken from several other sources. (Styles like The Who or Led Zeppelin would have used.) People were actually calling the radio when this came out thinking that they had heard fresh Zeppelin material. I don't believe it's a cover, however. Great song nonetheless. Put Rush on the map. =] |
Mindless Self Indulgence – Tom Sawyer (Rush cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Agreed. |
Rush – La Villa Strangiato Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The song was based on Alex Lifeson's vivid nightmares. One part's even dedicated to him: "A Lerxst (sp?) In Wonderland." If I spelled that correctly, it's Alex Lifeson's nickname. =] I read a book where it said it was done in three seperate pieces, and they just glued 'em all together. Although the live versions are obviously in one take. A quote from Alex himself: "I always thought 'I'm never going to be able to play 'La Villa Strangiato'', it'll be too confusing. But now I play it on acoustic all the time, like at breakfast, or when I'm watching hockey." |
Led Zeppelin – Bonzo's Montreux Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Ok, let's get this straight. This is a blog of sorts about Led Zeppelin's, or should I say John Bonham's, "Bonzo's Montreux". It is not a blog about which band is better. It is definitely not a blog to put down anyone who doesn't worship Lynyrd Skynyrd. Do it on your own time. On your own website. That no one looks at. Because if you like to argue about things like that, you're narrow minded. I pity you. Alright, back to words that have relevance to the music. This is one of the best drum solo's I've ever had grace my ears, and let me tell you, I'm an avid listener of Rush. (That's Neil Peart. Look him up on wikipedia.org.) If you listen closely, there's an incredible variety of sounds going on at once (Is that a spring he's playing?!?) it must be overdubbed, but it isn't. It all goes to John Bonham, a creative, albiet drinking, genious. I was under the impression "Montreux" was a synonym for "Ballad". [shrug] By the way, if you're going to post something after me, and it's going to bash another band, don't. Just don't. Because someone will spend their time thinking of a smart quip to get back at you, and the loser will inevitably be you. Trouble us not with your war-mongerings. |
Rush – Closer to the Heart Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I agree completely with the Exit...Stage Left opinions. The feeling you get listening to hundreds upon hundreds of people singing along to a song is an indescribable feeling. The jam session at the end is also great, especially if you've listened to the Different Stages (Disc 1) version. A side note to plasmaHD: It's not necessarily a 12-string. I've pulled of the intro on a 6-string (To great acclaim) on several occasions. =) |
Rush – Earthshine Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Technically, you're both right. Green Weezer Day in the literal sense, and YYZ 2112 in the underlying meaning. Excellent song nonetheless. =D |
