Horse the Band – Murder Lyrics | 11 years ago |
It's actually a little bit of both. Nathan Winneke is of both White European and Native American ancestry. This song was written on how he can agree with points from both sides of the story when regarding White European settlers versus Native Americans. |
Faith No More – Midlife Crisis Lyrics | 13 years ago |
The "clinging onto passing youth" concept is entirely spot-on for the general meaning of this song. This song is not about jerking off. Anyone who thinks that think ALL songs are about jerking off, no offense, shit happens. Mike said that he kept being bombarded so to speak with Madonna on television and radio so constantly that he began to analyze her as a person after pondering the idea. I assume that this song is primarily about materialism and how it changes people and causes them to make often times questionable decisions. Let's not forget; Madonna was the "Material Girl" -- a 'goddess' so to speak, someone whom portrayed herself as being super desirable and materialistic. To a lot of people, she was desirable, and this song is basically poking fun at the whole idea of a 30-something aging woman prancing around dressed like a 17 year old sex symbol spouting innuendo and relationship involved ultimatums at people as a 17 year old girl would. The lines about the skinned knee, morbid self attention and sense of security/holding blunt instrument refers to someone in denial about their own flaws and insecurities and unwittingly putting a guard up, or a front to hide their true feelings about themselves. They become self-involved and desperate for attention enough to make really odd choices to modify their appearance and personality. The lines about the family tree, bleeding heart, donor by habit, kleenex and salt, (a reference to crying), "you're perfect, yes it's true -- but without me, you're only you" and etcetera refer to her habits of philanthropy and involving herself in world causes and adopting foreign children in her real personal life, despite putting on the whole 'material girl' image that portrayed her as an unapproachable Diva in her artistic life. To Mike, it must have seemed that she was merely acting like a caring individual whom was genuinely interested in and concerned about these things as a business and personal measure, presumably to gain positive attention from people who may have never given her that and make herself seem like a 'good guy'... meanwhile possibly affecting others lives negatively as a result of her decisions. It also alludes to the idea of her philanthropic behavior as being an inconvenience to her despite her efforts -- a contradiction, or crisis if you will. |
Xiu Xiu – Jennifer Lopez Lyrics | 14 years ago |
He's bisexual. Not GAY ffs. |
Mr. Bungle – Quote Unquote Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I also believe that this song is about someone with severe sensory deprivation. During the span of the story within this song, this person desperately tries to create an escapist scenario for himself where all of his missing senses along with his one remaining sense - smell - will be in perfect working order for the first time ever. This basic human need for physical, visual, aural and emotional activity is symbolized by the 'disco' references both in the song and on the actual music video. To make a long story short, he's orchestrating a full-blown sensory explosion within the confines of his own mind and partially achieves this momentarily, but because he cannot perceive these things in actuality and has no basis of comparison from which to judge the lost senses that would be the very pieces that ultimately construct the fantasy in the first place, the plan ends disastrously. In the end, he finds himself alone only now without any senses left, basically left to exist as a physical being and little else. A very tragic and appalling story, especially considering that medically speaking, this can and has happened to people before and generally could happen to anyone. |
Genghis Tron – Colony Collapse Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song's lyrics (and title, obviously) remind me of a PBS docu I saw very recently about colony collapse disorder, a phenomenon in which colonies of bees disappear without warning or in distinguishable patterns. The nonexistence of pollinating bees would eventually lead to the perish of nearly all organic lifeforms which are not self-pollinating. |
Horse the Band – Stabbers Of The Knife, By Kenny Pelts Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I should note that Nathan writes "cheering", and it's obviously "chanting", and also that when he writes these lyrics, he puts an extra "holiday commentary" at the end that is not on the song. |
Horse the Band – Stabbers Of The Knife, By Kenny Pelts Lyrics | 16 years ago |
These are the old lyrics, and the ones that are on R. Borlax are as follows: warm flesh and oh so smooth sweet skin TWINS a sun and moon I could have been anything leading the armies of the free or building the great elaborate id but one of them i dared to love so long without defense my eyes went white and blind now i know -only two two wretched sisters fucking-lying sisters woe and hate the ghost of a carcass, chipped away its morsels RED + WET losing warmth- its all RED + WET hacked, cleaved from my back- its all RED + WET this mess was made for me by a stabber of the knife kissing, holding, touching, hugging, caressing, loving CUTTING, BREAKING, STABBING, HURLING AT ME, CONCEPTUAL KNIVES, COLD INSIDE, FUCKING ME, FUCKING MY BODY, STABBING ME, THRUSTING, SLOWLY, PUSHING, FUCKING, KILLING ME, BRAND MY BACK, RAPE A BUG, SILLY and one of them i dared to love so long without defense my eyes went white and blind my eyes went white and blind my eyes went white and blind TO ALL THIS I SPIT AND LEER, CHEERING VAUGE OBSENITIES IN AN EMPTY ROOM..... ON A DIRTY FLOOR.... WRITING PAGAN POETRY ON MY BIRTHDAY CARD, ANOTHER DAMN BIRTHDAY CARD SPLINTERS.... WRITING HOLIDAY COMMENTARY |
Minus the Bear – Let's Play Guitar in a Five Guitar Band Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Could also be a reference to the old movie called "Mannequin", in which a mannequin comes to life and has an actual relationship with a man. |
Minus the Bear – Let's Play Guitar in a Five Guitar Band Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I always thought that this song reads like it's about a person falling in love with a mannequin, hence the store window, and hence the line "she was something else" |
Horse the Band – Pol's Voice Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I don't mean to come off as a dick or anything, but seriously chill with that shit please |
Horse the Band – Pol's Voice Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I am not a current or former member of HORSE the band, nor am I a friend or enemy of the band I have talked to members of the band, and know people that WERE members of the band, but that's as far as my relation to them goes I can assure you that the Cutman, Birdo and Pol's Voice references are entirely metaphorical and are only used as a description of people that the band knows People act like this band was started to be all about Nintendo or some shit and that's just stupid, why would anyone outside of a chiptune or demoscene do that, it doesn't make sense It's all over the place about how this is about this Nintendo game or this Nintendo character, and that simply isn't true, and it's a bit annoying The only reason the band referred to themselves as 'Nintendocore' to begin with was because of a joke that had been made about the familiar sound that Erik was making with his keyboard, the band actually labeled themselves "Nerdcore" even before that I am not an insider, I am just stating the all-too obvious, they're not a Nintendo tribute band, they're a band with a guy who plays keyboards that happen to use the some of the same waveforms as are commonly related to vintage gaming console soundchips But now that Erik is using GameBoy sounds we'll just say that every song is about ExciteBike and that their new genre is GameBoycore and that we're all so hard on for GameBoy because HORSE the band writes songs about it |
The Mars Volta – Televators Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Just as he hit The ground They lowered a tow that Stuck in his neck to the gills Fragments of sobriquets riddle me this three half eaten corneas who hit the aureole Stalk the ground Stalk the ground You should have seen The curse that flew right by you Page of concrete Stained walks crutch in hobbled sway Auto-dafé A capillary hint of red Only this Manupod Crescent in shape has escaped The house half the way Fell empty with teeth That split both his lips Mark these words One day this chalk outline will circle this city Was he robbed of the asphalt that cushioned his face? A room colored charlatan Hid in a safe Stalk the ground Stalk the ground You should have seen The curse that flew right by you Page of concrete Stain walks crutch in hobbled sway Auto-dafé A capillary hint of red Only this Manupod Crescent in shape has escaped Pull the pins Save your grace Mark these words On his grave [x3] You should have seen The curse that flew right by you Page of concrete Stain walks crutch in hobbled sway Auto-dafé A capillary hint of red Everyone knows the last toes are Always the coldest to go |
The Mars Volta – Televators Lyrics | 17 years ago |
These lyrics are still incorrect. |
Gorillaz – DARE Lyrics | 17 years ago |
And the song is named 'Dare' because as someone mentioned before, Shaun Ryder's accent was so thick and he was so fucked up that instead of saying "It's There" (which was the original lyrics / title of this song), he kept saying 'It's Dare'. Shaun was also reportedly so stoned during the recording of this song that he doesn't even remember being ON the song. And he was so fried during the filming of the video that they were having to poke him with stuff to keep him awake inbetween scenes. (Could explain some of the bewildered faces he makes in the vid) |
Gorillaz – DARE Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Shaun Ryder is the shit. Even if he is a severely fucked-up person, he made Dare what it is. |
Gorillaz – El Mañana Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'm sure someone's mentioned it, but this song is about Noodle's supposed death that takes place in the video. It's titled El Manana, because it's the day after the Feel Good Inc. video. Two choppers are present in Feel Good then two different choppers come for (and seems to kill) Noodle in the video for this song. According to Damon, Noodle is dead. But knowing Noodle's background and what she actually is, this may not entirely be the case. |
Prize Fighter Inferno – Margretville Dance, The Lyrics | 17 years ago |
They may have even use a Linn drum machine or atleast the hit sounds from one on this which could explain the 80's Prince-sounding beat |
Prize Fighter Inferno – Margretville Dance, The Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song IS very Prince / Egyptian Lover / Kraftwerk influenced... Love the breathing on the track. Not many people pull that off so nicely. |
Team Sleep – King Diamond Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think Frances the Mute has the general idea. |
Team Sleep – King Diamond Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love the beat to this song. Crook showed his ass on that one. The demo version of this song, without Timony's vocals is far better, in my opinion. |
Team Sleep – Mercedes Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Actually Crook uses a really old sampler called an E-MU SP 1200 for his drum programming. He loads samples in and programs them like you would a regular drum machine, only with the sampler, he's not limited to just the preset sounds that come in drum machines. |
Team Sleep – Natalie Portman Lyrics | 17 years ago |
*Little tune *A new wave |
Team Sleep – Ligeia Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think I may have had something to do with them keeping this song. Back then, Crook was posting around on TSNET's board a lot and keeping real tight with the fans and people there, and noone really dug this song except for me and a few others. It was slated for removal, but I begged and begged Crook to get it on the final release. If not, thanks anyways, Cork. But, the lyrics on this are wrong. They are as follows: In 1969 i killed a man of mine in a small Montana town i was hunted down by hounds hear the nighthawks cry their voices dry and hollow hear the crowd cheer they cheer me to the gallows In 1985 i was doing time alive i made a plan to escape and live as the lady of the lake hear the crowd of ghosts their voices dry and hollow cant you hear them call? they cheer me to the gallows 1995 was the year i came up for trial i listened to his song and watched the sun make the shadows long hear the nighthawk call his voices dry and hollow hear the crowd call they cheer me to the gallows hear the nighthawk call his voices dry and hollow hear the nighthawk call in a voice that's hollow Another thing to note is that Crook used a (reportedly EXTREMELY old) record with audio of bullfights on it for the claps / chants on this song, and they were added after the initial recording. |
Team Sleep – Iceache Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Or that's what the original lyrics were. |
Team Sleep – Iceache Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Actually, I think the verse is as follows: "Record the rioting .WAV of the tour" |
Team Sleep – Ever (Foreign Flag) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I actually think that this song is about band drama. Watch the video, note the 'static'. Read the lyrics. Note the "Light up the stage so we can all take off anywhere" as if certain members of the band don't take it seriously enough despite the precursor notion that this wasn't meant to be a serious band. |
Deftones – Crenshaw Punch/I'll Throw Rocks at You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This was a song he wrote to his ex-wife. |
Deftones – Lhabia Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I remember hearing that this song was about a girl he knew and liked personally / sexually who was a prostitute and he tried to talk her into finding a better or atleast different line of work, and she refused, opting for money over himself, herself, and her own dignity, basically. If I remember correctly, I think that he may've even went so far as to offer to kill her pimp for her incase that was what was keeping her in that profession. |
Deftones – Minerva Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Someone I know recorded this song as it premiered on KROQ. Actually, it was the last song I heard from the ST album -- I had the whole rest of the album three, maybe four months before the release -- got it from an ...unnamed person's FTP. I didn't download Minerva because everyone who got that album that night told me not to bother with it. So, it premieres on KROQ, and I was like, okay, just lemme dl that shit and see what's up. Downloaded it. Deleted it. Forgot about it. I've literally listened to that entire song one full time. That's it. But a lot of people do seem to like it for whatever reason even if a good many don't. |
Deftones – Back to School (Mini Maggit) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
But then again, the EPK was the only good thing on that mini album... |
Deftones – Back to School (Mini Maggit) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Sorry if I offend anyone, but this song doesn't deserve the 60+ comments it has unless it's to say what I plan on saying in this comment: This song is the absolute worst deftones song. Pink Maggit, on the other hand, was FAR better. What I don't understand is how Chino could try hard enough to distance the band from 'Nu-metal' bands and the genre label itself during the ATF era, yet come out with a song like Mini Maggit. Only good thing this song did was create a catalyst for them to release the B2S mini album with the EPK on it. |
Deftones – Gods Hands Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I am totally unsure of what this song is about. I could speculate, but I just want to comment on how gnarly the last three lines are. |
Deftones – (Like) Linus Lyrics | 17 years ago |
But the whole air of retrospect in the song says that it's likely something that happened BEFORE something else, and if it's connected to these two bizarrely simular accidents, I am pretty sure that Stef's was first, since that's how the band got most of their equipment initially. |
Deftones – (Like) Linus Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Ofcourse, considering how old the song is, it might be about Stef's accident. |
Deftones – (Like) Linus Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Actually, I heard that 'Linus' refers to a friend of the band's named Linus Ferris. And the song is rumored to be about Chi getting run over by a drunk driver(s). Something highly reminiscent of a simular event which happened to Stef that left him wheelchair-bound for a while and enabled him to buy the band newer equipment with the money incurred from court. I'm not sure how Linus has anything to do with this, though. This may not be the case, though -- it's just what I've heard more or less quite a few times from different people. |
Deftones – Anniversary of an Uninteresting Event Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is a tribute to someone close to the band whom died. I remember seeing either Chino or someone else from the band state that somewhere. |
Deftones – 7 Words Lyrics | 17 years ago |
He says "Big fucking ape", not "Ahh" |
Deftones – Christmas Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The latter rap verse in this song isn't correct. I used to know the actual words, but they've passed my memory at this point.. Sorry. But I will say that he doesn't repeat but maybe 1/4 of the first rap verse in the second one. |
Deftones – Venison Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Whoever posted these lyrics missed the first line. "Bloodstains in his eyes" |
Heart – Barracuda Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Zengirl has it exactly right. It's about the whole 'lesbian sister' fiasco. I'm surprised the also cute also based out of Canada ACTUAL lesbians who happen to be sisters, Tegan and Sarah haven't had a simular thing happen to them yet. |
Horse the Band – Pol's Voice Lyrics | 17 years ago |
If you want a band whose songs ARE about Nintendo (mainly because they are the actual songs FROM Nintendo games), check out The Advantage. |
Horse the Band – Pol's Voice Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I happen to like the band for an entirely seperate reason other than Nintendo. They remind me of Don Cab. Wrap your head around that one, hussy. |
Horse the Band – Pol's Voice Lyrics | 17 years ago |
So you're telling me that every band that uses analog-modelling keyboards are trying to sound "Nintendo"? Their songs AREN'T about Nintendo, their songs only REFER to Nintendo characters as a metaphor. Like calling a Asian who acts like a white person a "Banana". Just because the song is named "Banana" doesn't mean the song is about a banana, you dolt. It's about an Asian who acts like a white person. And just because the band coined the term 'Nintendocore' doesn't mean that it doesn't represent something that is entirely non-existent. Since you've studied the band so fervently and know so much about what they have coined, you'd know that they created that term to sell people records, banking off of the whole 80's throwback phase that people seem to be eating up like McDonalds these days. I don't call that anything but really great marketing skills on the band's part. Maybe when the whole 'grunge' thing comes back into style, they'll wear nasty sweaters and cite the Pixies as huge inspirations and you can say that their songs are about the Carribean. |
Horse the Band – Cutsman Lyrics | 17 years ago |
above poster likes to watch his Mom shower. SLAM! |
Horse the Band – Birdo Lyrics | 17 years ago |
It's a metaphorical reference. The guy it was written about has likely never even heard it, and likely never will, and in the event that he does, he won't even know what it's about. The only parallel in the song is the actual name "Birdo" being used and the whole "egg" reference. So therefore, it REFERS to the Nintendo character, but other than that, has very little else to do with anything other than Nathan's Stepdad. |
Horse the Band – Bunnies Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I mean, ofcourse, it's up to the listener to interpret it their own way, but more times than not, HORSE the band are pretty blunt in their vagueness. |
Horse the Band – Bunnies Lyrics | 17 years ago |
No, remove is right. It's about people swallowing anything in the palm infront of them. |
Weerd Science – Girl, Your Baby's Wormfood Lyrics | 17 years ago |
It's a song about friends helping friends. |
Horse the Band – The House Of Boo Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Finally, someone is listening to Nathan and finally someone admits that maybe, JUST MAYBE, HORSE THE BAND'S SONGS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH NINTENDO. |
Horse the Band – Birdo Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Oh, and Lord Gold's character in this video ISN'T a girl. It's a male. Lord Gold is a figure of beauty. The video I suppose is symbolic of the whole idea of making children do what they don't necessarily want to do. Check out the ending scene with Nathan, and note his little sadistic smirk -- perhaps he is conducting this play to give back what has been given? |
