Live – Lightning Crashes Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I've always liked this song, and it has always nearly brought me to tears. But this last week it becamse even more personal. Last Thursday, the 21st. my mother died. I was there with her. The next night I had the radio on and this song came on, and I just broke down. I have been completely devastated all week, but hearing this song the other day gave it more meaning, and made me think that maybe it all is a cycle. I can't bear the idea that she is just gone. |
Altan – An Cailín Deas Óg Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Here's a rough translation from the Gaelic: This pretty young maid I seek far and wide My heartache each morn with her I don't meet When I go to the bar, the dance hall or fete But I'd follow her trail in the dead of the night Chorus: Now you're the young man that travels afar Find me a gem I can have as my wife Never yearn or pine for flocks or for kine And I'll conjure plan that will charm her life Have her youthful and fair with no worry or care Patient and wise in affairs of all kind Modest and mild, without too much pride That is my love if she hadn't a dime (Chorus) Let no blemish or shame be attached to her name Honest in heart and gentle in mien No hatred or vice to be heard in her voice But cheerful and smiling from morning 'til night (Chorus) And I'll charm her life |
Sufjan Stevens – We Are What You Say Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Many of Stevens' songs have religious or spiritual allusions, but he has stated that even though he is Christian, he does not want to overtly advertise this in his music. He did, however, do some work with the Seven Swans, a Christian folk group. |
