Limp Bizkit – Behind Blue Eyes (The Who cover) Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Take it for what it is, people seem to harp on things (especially covers or remakes of things) a lot... and that's because its the easiest thing to do and to sound like you know what your talking about and that your totally awesome. When in reality, people that have any brains can see right through your bullshit. Now, I am not a huge Limp Bizkit fan, it was bigger on me when I was young, and even then, I could only tolerate some of it. Also, though I do not listen to The Who, I respect them. The Who surely did a lot more for rock than Limp Bizkit did. The Who just existed and were popular before my time and the way they sound, just isn't my cup of tea; mostly because when I grew up, the music I was listening to was different. Its just all what you are used to. That said, no matter who covered this song, or what they did to it or whether they kept it exactly the same I'm sure that most the people bitchin' on here would still be bitchin'. Its a cover, if you like the original better, go listen to it, that's totally acceptable, its what your used to. Nobody is making you listen to this song. I feel as though Limp Bizkit did a good job of capturing the main point of the song and its emotion, but in a more modern sound. This is one of the things that Fred Durst got right, give him credit as a musician to recognize how good this song really is and putting his own little spin on it. What I'm saying is you don't have to like everything, nobody does, but give respect where its due under all the circumstances. Realize that the real world is more than just black and white. Its easy to see when reading through the comments of who "gets it" and who is a moron that likes making things easy for themselves so they can feel better about themselves. |
Serafin – Day By Day Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Nine Inch Nails – Beside You in Time Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Oh and year zero. forgot that one, lol. But really if you want some understanding and theories to NIN; check out this link. http://www.theninhotline.net/archives/articles/otherinterpretation.shtml |
Nine Inch Nails – Beside You in Time Lyrics | 13 years ago |
When trying to interpret NIN songs, really, to take one song and interpret it (as in what Trent was saying) you must not only look at the whole album, but all the work that Trent has ever done. You must get the big picture. Every album (Pretty Hate Machine, The Downward Spiral, The Fragile, With Teeth, and now The Slip) starts with the previous album, continues the story, and leads to the next. Whats the story you ask? I think its about Trent's life. The Fragile had an obvious character in it, and that character I believe was Trent's inner self. The thing that each one of us has inside of us, whether we recognize it or not, and if we recognize it, we cannot explain. This is why Trent Reznor is very talented and gifted; not only can he explain it, but he can put lyrics and music to it, to add to it. You may go back and look at certain NIN songs and be like, well this doesnt fit into a inner self life story thing, but its usually a big metaphor, and when you look at the bigger picture...... not only does every lyric fit together, but every song on every album, and every album fits together. To appreciate NIN, you must listen to all the songs, and when you realize that its more than just some guy singing random songs, each with its own meaning, trying to become rich in famous, but its a man that understands the deepest things in ourselves, and that's why anybody can relate to his songs. End rant. |
Candlebox – Far Behind Lyrics | 14 years ago |
this is one of those songs that when ppl hear it, they know the song, but they have no idea who sings it, or what its called, (i was actually one of these ppl until i looked and looked for it) because, lets face it, this song wasnt put out by nirvana, or ozzy, but by a little one-hit wonder unknown band named candlebox, a band that broke up many years ago from what i understand. anyways, its too bad the band couldnt match this kind of great tune again, or maybe they would still be around. |
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Soul to Squeeze Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i dont think this song should be limited to drug addiction, it can apply to so many certain situations, the details are all different, but the underlying message is the same, i think someone else hit on this, but you may have everything, but sometimes life gets to u anyways, everybody feels like shit every now and again. drugs for example, u may have everything, but for every high, theres that coming back down, where u feel like crap. but, its true, a drug use interpretation can apply to alotta songs but personally i think it is naive to think that so many songs r strictly wrote about drugs alone (though its obvious some are). i give bands like red hot chili peppers (just to name one) more credit to the meanings of their songs than that. |
Foo Fighters – Everlong Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Okay okay, so I have to agree, this is probably the best foo fighters song.... In fact, there is very few songs that can give me the kind of feeling this one does, which im not going to even try to explain. This song is so perfect in just how it is put together from a lyrical and musical standpoint, props to Dave Grohl, its one thing to have this good sounding of a song, or having this deep of a song, but having both at once is very tough to come by. Anyways, i get this is a love song, and i get most parts of the song, and most the time im good at seeing the metaphors in a song, especially if i know what the song is about overall, but if someone could help me, or even give me some ideas to what some of them mean, such as (maybe im just really stupid)the singing metaphor? what does that symbolize? is he using the word sing as code for sex? the lines: The only thing I'll ever ask of you Got to promise not to stop when I say when She sang it still doesnt make sense... i get the rest of the song... but what the hell does that part mean? and i know i should just ask what it means to me, i know what the rest of the song does, and maybe some songs shouldnt be "dissected" but that part is so weird to me and its driving me crazy. PS- sorry if that was already answered or asked in one of the bazillion posts, i got to page 3 and reading them got really old, so i figured id just ask rather than try to look for it. |
The White Stripes – Seven Nation Army Lyrics | 15 years ago |
the bass makes this song, by far the best bass in a song ever. |
Foo Fighters – Over And Out Lyrics | 15 years ago |
It's good partly because it can be interpreted in many ways. In general though, its about something that you hold dearly to you and it fades away. At the beginning of the song it sounds as though he's reminissing about this dear thing and towards the end it talks about how its over and gone for good, and theres nothing he can do to bring it back again. What was once a big part of his life has faded away into nothing. |
Metallica – Fuel Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Also, you are a moron to think this song is about drugs. Not every song is about sex or drugs! This song is simple in the fact it says exactly what it means, no hidden meanings or reading between the lines in this song. |
Metallica – Fuel Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think it is IMPOSSIBLE to be driving along, and this song to come on, and not kick it down. This song makes u think u can drive fast and crazy, lol. Even if my grandma was sitting next to me in the car and this song came on, i wouldnt be able to fight the urge. Gives me goosebumps every time i hear it. |
Nine Inch Nails – 1,000,000 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
and probly if this stuff was NIN's first stuff. and Downward Spiril and the Fragile were second, ud probly be bitchin that they suck compared to this stuff. |
Nine Inch Nails – 1,000,000 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I love how you have ppl that r like, man i wish Trent would do drugs again so he could come up with stuff like the downward spiral. You greedy pricks. Trent pulls his life together and all u can say is i hope he ruins it again so he can write me good music. YOU, are not true fans. I'm not saying the Downward Spiral is a bad album, in fact its probly my favorite album of all time. But NIN is different unlike other bands and doesnt sound the same on every single fucking album. So naturally some ppl arent going to like it. I, respect the talent he has to make all his albums sound different, yet can see the genius he is as a musician. What it comes down to, if ur a true NIN fan, or just a NIN fan, you would respect mr. reznor for how he pulled his life together as in stopped using drugs and alcohol, not just anybody can do that. I say, good for him. |
Tool – Schism Lyrics | 16 years ago |
and bWa, think about it, its like a piece of glass. and u hit it was a hammer so it shatters. you know that the pieces would all fit bk together to make the same piece of glass, you would know that because u watched it break. |
Tool – Schism Lyrics | 16 years ago |
ok, so i know whatever i say pretty much, somebody else has already said, because there is 15 pages. But i do not feel like reading through them all like i normally would and then make a post. the relationship thing, fits well, so does the religion. It kind of shows how similar a relationship with a person can be with a relationship with some kind of god. I personally took this song in the relationship sense when i first heard it. Probly because i started listening to this song alot when me and my ex gf started growing farther apart. I loved her so much i would do anything for her, even not be myself anymore, be what i thought she wanted me to be. And that, being who i was not, is exactly what changed her feelings for me, hence the line "The light that fueled our fire then has burned a hole between us", my love for her is exactly what ended it. I was afraid to truely communicate with her about these things because i was scared of what the truth might be, "crippling our communication". Therefore, when i was my true self "the pieces fit", and i "watched them fall away" when i was no longer myself. So i guess the lessoned learned is just be urself, no matter what. I think thats the secret to true happiness. Also, like some others, this song really didnt catch my fancy when i first heard it. but after a long time of not listening to it, it came on, and i liked it. the line "I know the pieces fit, 'cause i watched them fall away" always gets stuck in my head. |
Breaking Benjamin – So Cold Lyrics | 16 years ago |
schneicp's interpretation was exactly like mine. i dont know if thats what was in mind when the song was wrote. because ive never seen the movie 28 days later. but that interpretation fits it to well. i have never been able to look at this song as a song about a girl/boy, relationship, sex, drugs or any of that other crap that is wrote about to much. think outside the box. and schneip, i dont think the video game part about the line "lets give this another try" fits either, i also think its not deep enough. i think its referring to giving peace another try? |
Peace, Love & Pitbulls – Youth Lyrics | 16 years ago |
ok so, not only do i add the song, i see nobody has commented it in 2 months, so i will. apparently im about the only person on the face of the planet that listens to this band. anyways, if anyone ever reads this, i think this song is about growing up in a war torn society, and the child is doomed to growing up and having to be apart of this never ending fight. idk, that totally doesnt make sense either, thats y i was hoping someone could comment and give me a second view on the song. |
Egypt Central – You Make Me Sick Lyrics | 16 years ago |
btw, rubyring 13, you basically said what i did, but much better, i totally agree with you. as u can see, i couldnt say it better myself, lol. |
Egypt Central – You Make Me Sick Lyrics | 16 years ago |
what i think it means is not the person makes them sick as in they hate them, but as in that person makes them sick in a sad way. they love the person more than anything and they mean everything to them, but, the other person makes them feel sad by not talking to them or something even tho they r a "couple". i think thats what it means when he says: "Someone help someone speak before I start to scream out, anything to break the silence You’re holding me back confined by doubt" they know that the person has feelings for them just that the person doesnt treat them right and makes the singer feel as though he were not appreciated, making him sad and having that "sick" feeling because he feels he's unloved or unwanted by the person he loves. "You make me sick, but I love what we're doing here You make me sick, and I can't be the only one" the first line means he loves the relationship and the fun the sometimes have together, and how he loves the person, and its an amazing thing. And the 2nd line means but he can't be the only one that feels this way, for the relationship to be successful, both of them have to feel that way. Though he can still love them because the other person might not be aware of what they r doing. " Cause I need you, cause I need you here with me When it falls through and I’m down upon my knees There's a force there's a voice in my head telling me to Think about everything last time I believed now I realize" this means he feels bad sometimes but realizes he would be worse off without that person, and because they mean everything to them, he is willing to do anything to fix the problem and to make things right. I'm currently going through a relationship like this, and when I heard this song on the radio this afternoon when i was feeling down, i instantly came home and bought it because it reminded me of what I'm going through. |
System of a Down – Friik Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Michael Jackson – Thriller Lyrics | 16 years ago |
listening to this song makes me wanna become a white woman and start molesting children.... NOT! that man has problems.... |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Ava Adore Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Nine Inch Nails – Zero-Sum Lyrics | 17 years ago |
the people b4 me have done a good job with the song, and i think they more than nailed it. but, about the title and how some ppl were saying that eventually the world will end when the sun dies out or if a meteor hit the earth. and all our work and all that we've done wont matter, it will be gone, equaling nothing, or zero, hence the name, zero sum |
Nine Inch Nails – Me, I'm Not Lyrics | 17 years ago |
yeah, i can no longer listen to this song seriously, after i realized that trent kinda sounds like the fonz when he says "heyyyy" but i think the ppl b4 me covered pretty well what the song means and how it fits into YZ. awesome album. |
Rammstein – Wo Bist Du (English) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
and who says rammstein cant write meaningful songs? in my opinion, they write some of the most emotional slow songs. |
Nine Inch Nails – The Perfect Drug Lyrics | 17 years ago |
cant go on WITHOUT* the person, correction |
Nine Inch Nails – The Perfect Drug Lyrics | 17 years ago |
double meaning obviously. and i think it IS about a person. i mean, c'mon, trent isnt so lame that hed just write a song about drugs and not have any real meaning behind it. trent does NOT just come out and deliberatly say what he means in his songs, he uses metaphors. the line "take me, with you" how can u go somewhere with a drug? and the part where he says "i got my heart but my hearts no good" is about a person, just that he needs that person so much they can control him, so hes saying he doesnt exactly love the person, he just needs that person. like a drug, cant go on with the person, you dont love a drug, u need a drug. or you think anyways. |
Nine Inch Nails – In This Twilight Lyrics | 17 years ago |
the song gives me goosebumps when i listen to it. yes, mr. reznor has done it again. in my opinion, not a bad song on year zero yet. they just keep getting better. |
Powerman 5000 – Wake Up Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this song is actually called wake up ego....maybe thats why nobody has commented on this awesome song? |
Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Happy birthday Kurt Cobain, R.I.P. |
Nine Inch Nails – My Violent Heart Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I have to agree, awesome song. I'm still trying decide if Survivalism or this song My violent heart is better. Then i think this may be the best nin album ever(which is amazing itself. but all i can decide is that this album is going to be fucking genius/awesome/brilliant. |
Nine Inch Nails – Survivalism Lyrics | 17 years ago |
no offense, but all of you are wrong about this song referring to what its about. the whole album has a really unique story behind it. go to the website set up explaining it. iamtryingtobelieve.com. its a genius story, btw, 2nd part of the story (another album) is due out 2008. |
Nine Inch Nails – Metal Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Actually, Az Iz is probly right. It really does make sense if you think about it, Trent has referred to the american society as a machine. That we all are naive and just pawns in the game of existance. |
Nine Inch Nails – Home Lyrics | 17 years ago |
to me, this is trent referring to his life. as in, "i awake, to find im not at all, where i should be" is saying, he had a plan for his life but it didnt turn out that way. and now he just wants to bk to that time when he had plans for his life, which is home to him. but after all thats happened to him and in the world around him, he cant. |
Nine Inch Nails – Burn Lyrics | 17 years ago |
yes, awesome song, and its not ripped off anybody else, trent wrote it......and if anybody is wondering, its not a drum machine in the song, its actual drumming but then speeded up with a computer when they mixed it |
Nine Inch Nails – No, You Don't Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this song i think anybody can relate to, because i think we all know somebody that thinks they are hot shit and think they are all that, but really, in reality, they are only as good as everybody else, if not worse. |
Nine Inch Nails – Every Day Is Exactly the Same Lyrics | 18 years ago |
yeah, they all do sound alike, but im purty sure the beginning of the "downward spiral" is a acoustic guitar, but i will give u that they all sound alike. the end piano in closer and the guitar in the beginning of the downward spiral sound almost exactly alike, but in everyday is exactly the same u will notice its a bit different |
Nine Inch Nails – Every Day Is Exactly the Same Lyrics | 18 years ago |
dude, its called a piano |
Nine Inch Nails – Every Day Is Exactly the Same Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i agree with love cave, in a way. i think trent feels like hes in a prison in a way. he got so caught up with a past relationship or some kind of pain a few years ago, he wasted part of his life dwelling on it, and now hes over it and finds himself doing the same routine over and over. in a sick way he misses that past relationship (pain) cuz b4 he had something 2 think about and do, and he felt it was his duty 2 write about that in his songs, like the line "i think i used 2 have a purpose" now hes over that pain, and he finds himself bored, like in the line "there is no love here, and there is no pain" |
