Jeff Buckley – I Know We Could Be So Happy, Baby (If We Wanted to Be) Lyrics 12 years ago

"she shakes off a drop of daylight"

and this song wasn't good enough!!!

CCs are the best. ever.

Counting Crows – Catapult Lyrics 13 years ago
in my opinion it is the best CC song ever after Round Here.

The lyrics are amazing, with so much deepeer meaning after the surface. Lines like 'I wanna be the last thing that you hear when you're falling asleep' are so good (especially live), but have a bazillion more times meaning for fans.

It's just amazing

Jeff Buckley – Lover, You Should've Come Over Lyrics 13 years ago
relating to this song sucks, but my fav lyrics are:

'maybe i'm too young, to keep good love from going wrong, tonight, you're on my mind so...you'll never know'

'Lover you should've come over...it's not too late'

gut-wrenching

Jeff Buckley – Forget Her Lyrics 13 years ago
the best lyric for me is:

'As I try to find the will to forget her somehow
Oh I think I've forgotten her now'

Ben Folds Five – Evaporated Lyrics 13 years ago
'I poured my heart out.

It evaporated'.

Counting Crows – Accidentally In Love Lyrics 13 years ago
Yeah, he wrote an upbeat song for Shrek 2, but if you want to hear a REALLY depressing (and AMAZING) version of this, check out 'Goodnight Elizabeth at a concert on 20th Feb 2004

'How much longer will it take to cure this
Just to cure it cause I can't ignore it if it's love'

Counting Crows – Recovering The Satellites Lyrics 13 years ago
I just think this epitomises the entire second Crows album. The first album was about him trying to get away from the person and the situation he was living in ('keep myself away from me' - see Perfect Blue Buildings and Time and Time Again + his general detest of the world he lived in - Round here).

This song and album is all about getting away from the person he has become and RETURNING to that solitary depressed 'fucked up' figure from AAEA.

Counting Crows – Miller's Angels Lyrics 13 years ago
'Miller's angels in black and white
Welcome everyone in
Children dreaming of wrong and right'

do you not notice a similarity with the lyrics in round here:

'Step out the front door like a ghost,
into the fog, where no-one notices the contrast of white on white.
And inbetweeen the moon and you
the angels get a better view
of the crumbling difference between wrong and right'

Ben Folds Five – Jackson Cannery Lyrics 13 years ago
This is the best BFF song, only mathced by Ben Folds' 'Fred Jones Part 2'.

It's about not wanting to just live life, being a victim of the 'factory' and going along with the crowd, doing what you're told to and then yourself becoming a 'factory' and having kids and forcing them down the same road of just making sure there's 'food on the table'.

He writes it in the way about a girl, who he doesn't want to be with, becasue she's just going along with ife in this way, but he wasnts to do what HE wants and that's to be in a band. If he didn't do what he wanted then life is worthles, even if he became a millionaire whose life is as worthless as a 'mill rat'.

Counting Crows – August and Everything After (Live 12/03 Version) Lyrics 13 years ago
for me it goes parallel with Round Here. It's possibly his greatest song. The lyrics are amazing. I could go thorugh it all and analyse each lyric but that would take forever. I just love how the 'I said 'la la la...' bit sheds light on the 'I don't want to feel it slip away, come on say 'la la la'' bit in the New Amsterdam version of 'Rain King'.

Five for Fighting – I Just Love You Lyrics 13 years ago
i love this song - it's cleasrly about his 4 year old daughter and his relationship with her - like the whole album being about parent/child bonds, hence the album title 'Two Lights'

Counting Crows – Hazy Lyrics 13 years ago
This is absolutely fantastic - off their New Amsterdam (live) CD. For me it's like Raining In Baltimore no.2, which is no bad thing! It's amazing and really hammers home the depressing nature of uncertainty. His voice rings endlessly in your ears afterwards with melancholy

Five for Fighting – The Riddle Lyrics 13 years ago
This is off his new album, 'Two Lights', to be released on august 1st 2006. Can't wait. It's a fantastic song about the meaning of life with good generation links

R.E.M. – Nightswimming Lyrics 13 years ago
I really have to disagree with those who think it's literally about swimming with friends. I am convinced it's an entire metaphor of sex. But, it's what one gets out of it and you can't definitely say it's one thing. Songs mean different things to different people.

Jeff Buckley – Eternal Life Lyrics 13 years ago
I've heard the MWB and live DVD version. The Grace version is great, but these are a million tmes better. The bit where he shouts 'death!' are so spine-chilling

Jeff Buckley – Hallelujah/I Know It's Over Lyrics 14 years ago
I think the line is 'I can feel the SOUL falling over my head', thus it is pure genious when the song goes back to 'Hallelujah' with the line, 'Well, amybe there's a god above' as the links with the soul and the Holy Trinity.

Counting Crows – Why Should You Come When I Call Lyrics 14 years ago
This is, in my opinion, the worst CC song. It's just so cheesy

submissions
Counting Crows – Mercury Lyrics 14 years ago
I wonder why 'Mercury'. Could it be the planet - closest to the sun (maybe too hot to settle) or the chemical, which heats and cools quickly and moves. It is a metal, but doesn't have all its charecterisitics (such as it isn't hard, maybe she can't settle?)

Counting Crows – Accidentally In Love Lyrics 14 years ago
I like the way that although they has made an obviously catchy and commercail song, there are many references for the old fans, such as 'strawberry ice-cream' (I can't remember from which song) and 'lightning' (from Round Here)

Counting Crows – Hanginaround Lyrics 14 years ago
I think it's about him having gone out the night before and gotten durnk and he's woken up with a girl

Five for Fighting – The Beautiful Lyrics 14 years ago
This song is fantastic. Its meaning is helped by the fact it was written for the film 'We Were Soldiers'. You can hear it in full for free on 'fiveforfighting.com'.
