The Black Crowes – She Talks To Angels Lyrics 14 years ago
I see the strong case for drugs. But, on a more basic level, I think it's about self-inflicted pain. The drugs (assuming there are drugs involved) aren't what brings her close to the angels. It's the pain. Pain that, obviously, is hidden from the world by the metaphorical shades of her room. To me, the addiction is to the pain.

Hootie & the Blowfish – Look Away Lyrics 14 years ago
In the case of this song, yes, it was probably a racial thing. However, it has wider applications than that. This song is about forbidden love of all kinds. It's about anyone who's ever loved anyone whose parents tried to get in the way of the relationship. It's about any love that was ever seen as "different" and that, if stuck with, could be dangerous for everyone involved.

The relationship here is the anantithesis of hatred, but it clearly demonstrates the power and the reach of violent hatred.

It's a horribly depressing song. I listened to it for a week straight and never got sick of it.

Hootie & the Blowfish – Only Wanna Be With You Lyrics 14 years ago
First, even the great artists borrow lyrics. Point in case: Led Zeppelin. It's not such a bad thing, and the reference can be appreciated by fans from both.

Second, please don't be a troll. If you have nothing usefull to say, don't waste everyone else's time.

On the meaning, I think this one's pretty straight-forward. It's just a simple opposites-attract kind of relationship. But despite how different they are and how they're looking for different things, he couldn't ask for anything better.

The Dresden Dolls – Mrs. O. Lyrics 14 years ago
Given how informed the lyrics often make Amanda appear to be, I could definately see the title being a reference not only to teachers who are called simply by their first initial, but also the "the story of o." Duel meanings are common in songs and poetry.

However, I think this is about several things:

1) The innocence of childhood and how growing up makes you realize that they never really told you the truth or that you never really believed them when they did. It's quite cynical, but it is what happens.

2) It could also be about willful ignorance.

3 Doors Down – Sarah Yellin' Lyrics 15 years ago
I've always thought this song told the same story as Aerosmith's Jainie's Got a Gun.

The two are both about girls who were abused by their fathers (I've always assumed there was a sexual connotation in addition to other abuses), got a gun, and took matters into their own hands because no one helped them.

Rent – Today 4 U Lyrics 15 years ago
*laughs* That "Akita-Evita" remark had me in hysterics.

Personally, I find this song hysterical, and I just get this image of him/her dancing and it makes me laugh every time.

Evanescence – Imaginary Lyrics 15 years ago
I second the opinion put forth by Mystifiedpoet. The pre-fallen version is so much better.

I was listening to it and other songs before they suddenly exploded in popularity, and I have to stick with the original version. The piano is just amazing how it works in the original.

Dream Theater – A Change of Seasons Lyrics 15 years ago
This was the first Dream Theater song I ever heard.

From that moment, I was hooked.

Dream Theater – Metropolis, Pt. 1: "The Miracle and the Sleeper" Lyrics 16 years ago
This song makes so much more sense when you follow it imediately with Metropolis Part 2 aka Scenes From Memory. Listen to this song, follow it with that whole CD, and you finally grasp the story it tells: with it's reincarnation and murder and all of that. Very interesting...

Nirvana – Polly Lyrics 17 years ago
Can we not argue about his death? He died and it's a shame. Do we need to tarnish his memory by arguing over his death? Just cherish his brilliance, which he left for us with his songs. That's the whole point.

As for this song. I'm with the article people, but damn... This song is creepy.

The Smashing Pumpkins – Hummer Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree with Wendyclear. When you're miserable and something comes along that just releases you for just a bit, it's blissful.

Hummer could work the way y2doggy said. 'Cause low mumbling often sounds like quiet humming.

The Smashing Pumpkins – Christmastime Lyrics 17 years ago
A song about happy memories. I can't help but feel it's sung sadly, though. Just the tone of it. Like it's something lost.

The Smashing Pumpkins – Spaceboy Lyrics 17 years ago
It's a sad song. I don't think it's from his brother's perspective at that part, but I think he relates to him. Maybe he doesn't feel as if he fits in either.

The Smashing Pumpkins – Cherub Rock Lyrics 17 years ago
Music industry sounds about right. This song's kind of like a mockery of it all. Places it all right up there where everyone can see.

The Smashing Pumpkins – Apathy's Last Kiss Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this is a hopeless song. It's about hiding your emotions and keeping it all inside. The title suggest this. Apathy, according to, is a lack of emotion. And "Bury your heart in a hole" definately adds to that. So easy to relate to.

The Smashing Pumpkins – 1979 Lyrics 17 years ago
I think the song is about memories. Memories of a past that seems long gone. Such a wonderful song...

The Offspring – Self Esteem Lyrics 17 years ago
I have to disagree. I don't think it's about how girls use guys. I think it's about how people use eachother. Have to admit it, both girls and guys do it. This song happens to be about a specific girl, but if you look deeper, then it can be related to everyone.

Talking Heads – Once In A Lifetime Lyrics 18 years ago
Someone once said to me that this song was making fun of the perfect worlds in the 50s (or was it 60s?) tv shows.

Jack Off Jill – Nazi Halo Lyrics 18 years ago
I think it has many meanings. On the outer level, it's an anti-predjudice song. On another it could be about a bad relationship. That's the beauty of the song. It has many different levels. Not to mention I've found the tune to be very catchy.

Jack Off Jill – My Cat Lyrics 18 years ago
I have the other lyrics too. Interesting song. I thought it was about a relationship between her and someone else, but the movie reference as as good an idea as that.

Jack Off Jill – Lollirot Lyrics 18 years ago
My version also has the other lyrics. This definately is a song about the kids. Everyone is so perfect on the outside that they hide the turmoil inside.

Jack Off Jill – Kringle Lyrics 18 years ago
*nods* The song progresses from her being in power to him. Not to mention it has a cool guitar. It's beyond me how her voice gets that high, but it fits perfectly.

Love these lines:

"I'm schizophrenic when I'm on the phone
I guess that's why I'm never alone
Cause I am never myself "

The Smashing Pumpkins – Disarm Lyrics 18 years ago
I'm with those who think it's about his childhood, or in reality, his lost childhood. A treasure lost to him because of his life. It's the sadness at finally realizing what happened.

The Smashing Pumpkins – Tonight, Tonight Lyrics 18 years ago
Hope, love, growing up, changing, bliss. I think it's about these things. I'd elaborate, but I'm listening to it now, so I'm too involved in listening to think more.

The Smashing Pumpkins – Today Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this one is a mixture of things. It definately screams sarcasm and depressrion, but it also portrays hope, by appearing to look at the up side of things.

Jack Off Jill – Devil With the Black Dress On Lyrics 18 years ago
It's an interesting song. No as deep as some of the others, but it's not bad. It's kinda like payback to the one she thought of as an "angel."

Jack Off Jill – Cockroach Waltz Lyrics 18 years ago
Umm... Awesome song. Not sure exactly how to interpret it, though. It's definately about a relationship of somesort. Maybe I'll post something more after.

Jack Off Jill – Clear Hearts Grey Flowers Lyrics 18 years ago
It seems to be about a lost love. Someone hurt her, and now she realizes what happened and what he was like.

She has an amazing voice, though.

Jack Off Jill – Cinnamon Spider Lyrics 18 years ago
I think the song could be about her, but maybe there's someone else involved too. Maybe she's warning them what will happen because it happened to her. *shrugs* I don't know.

Jack Off Jill – Cherry Scented Lyrics 18 years ago
I agree with CrimsonPain. It seems to be about trying to fit in, or not fitting in.

Jack Off Jill – Angels Fuck Lyrics 18 years ago
I think it's about an abusive relationship. Awesome song, though.

Question: If they broke up a couple of years ago, why could I only find one website about them over the summer? Now there's tons, including a band website.

Jack Off Jill – American Made Lyrics 18 years ago
I don't find this song mocks America. I think instead, it is being very critical of the problems America has. Maybe it also points out how mainstream America can tend to leave outcasts and people with a very twisted view of the world.

Seeing as the band appears to be far from mainstream culture, this song points out how the author's own world was twisted by 'America.

Just some thoughts.

The Smashing Pumpkins – Ava Adore Lyrics 18 years ago
It may be just rhyming words, but subconciously it could be about a few relationships mixed into one.

The Smashing Pumpkins – Age of Innocence Lyrics 18 years ago
I agree with everyone else. This is their goodbye. I think the title refers to their good times in the band also. They left that far behind.

The Smashing Pumpkins – Bullet with Butterfly Wings Lyrics 18 years ago
Personally, I think the song is about being lost. In my mind, it has nothing to do with religion of any sort, though the words seem to support the idea that Corgan was christian.

To him, the world is evil. Its whole purpose is to destroy you and drag you down. Everything is falling appart around him, and he can't stop it no matter what, hence the line "Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage." He's trapped and helpless.

Assuming he is Christian, as I feel the words suggest, he feels abandoned. "Jesus was an only son for you." He feels that God has abandoned him. He feels that there is no hope left. Everything has gone down and there is no escape. "And I still believe that I cannot be saved." (I am non-religious, but that's how I look at it)

Someone mentioned this was written at a dark time in his life, I believe. The words are very dark. He talks about pretending that everything's ok. Maybe he felt that the band was falling apart too. "But can you fake it for just one more show?" That line suggests putting on a face so everyone thinks its ok.

Overall, I think the song expresses his frustration at all these things.

Hootie & the Blowfish – Hey Hey What Can I Do Lyrics 18 years ago
Hey, this is a Zepplin song.

Led Zeppelin – The Battle of Evermore Lyrics 18 years ago
I'm going with the LOTR idea. This follows the end of the books perfectly. The queen of light is Galadrial, and the Prince of peace is either Frodo or maybe Aragorn. I'm not going to get into the rest. anyone who has read the books can figure that out. Very cool song, though. On the weird side, and incredibly hard to hum correctly (i've had it stuck in my head before... trust me.) but that does nothing to it's brilliance.

System of a Down – Chop Suey! Lyrics 18 years ago
All this talk about religion. Personally, I'm not religious, and I don't believe in God, but the writer obviously knows some stuff. All I'm going to say is that I think all the allusions to religion and the bible and stuff are just that. I don't think the song has anything to do with religion. I think the 'angels' and the 'father' are just people who seem similar to that.

Or maybe the song goes deeper. If it's about addiction, which I'm leaning towards, then the 'angels' and the 'father' are all parts of the writer's brain. It's his imagination, his self-hatred, his insecurities, his virtues... all that wrapped into one. I don't think he's talking to anyone, but himself. Critisizing everything he does.

That's how I see it, though. Believe what you want.

Hootie & the Blowfish – Drowning Lyrics 18 years ago
I think it's kinda obvious that this one is about how some people hate others for stupid reasons, and the confusion caused by it.

Hootie & the Blowfish – Running From An Angel Lyrics 18 years ago
This one is about the one he loved, who always seemed to betray him. I think it broke his heart to have this happen, but he still loves her. He just doesn't want her to come back if she's going to break his heart again.

Hootie & the Blowfish – Time Lyrics 18 years ago
This is about how time always keeps going on and on. It waits for know one, and always leaves you behind. It also mentions how everyone is killing and how there's so much 'pain and sorrow' in the world. Basically, itf you look deeper into it, all that's for nothing, because time's going to move on no matter who wins. I think he's given up on trying to figure it all out and worrying about it. He's just going to go with it, and let time drag him along like it would do anyways. He wants to learn about it, but if it's all over tomorrow, he wouldn't care.

Kittie – Choke Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is all anger and betrayal as everyone else has said. The older guy obviously treated her like she was nothing, while she treated him like he was everything.

Hootie & the Blowfish – Look Away Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is about sacrifice. She's sacrificing her happiness for his sake. It seems to suggest she believes something terrible will happen if they stay together. nopt only to here, though. to him especially.

Stone Temple Pilots – Creep Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is about who you are and who you want to be. also how things change you, I think. I have to agree with everyone else, though. This song is awesome.

Kittie – Charlotte Lyrics 18 years ago
someone said this, but this song is about betrayal. The guy this is about really hurt the writer/voice/whatever. Maybe not virginity, maybe the heart, which is, in a way, worse. This song is about anger and wanting revenge, and how his victim is colder because of what he did. Because of him, she felt like nothing.

Oh, and the video is awesome.

Kittie – Paperdoll Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this one's about what some people are like today. Lioke someone else said, some of the girls let everybody use them. This song seems sad, but almsot unforgiving. The person who wrote it obviously wants the girl to stop whatever it is she's doing, or she wants to understand how she can through that without getting hurt, or seeming to get hurt. 'I wonder why she won't burn'
