| Foo Fighters – Come Alive Lyrics | 18 years ago |

hah.. These lyrics almost sound Christian. Song about a figure akin to a Christ or Savior? But other songs in the album may contradict this theory.. "Crown the king of suffering" "Open my eyes" "You saved me The day you came alive" "Nothing wrong to give I can finally live" |

| Bob Dylan – Ballad of a Thin Man Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I guess its about people who Don't think critically about whats happening around them. Those types who accumulate knowledge, think they know everything. But don't necessarily understand what they know. I guess its like the equivalent of acting like you know everything about submarines after watching a documentary about submarines, but you haven't even seen a submarine in real life. |

| John Lennon – God Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
John Lennon thought of himself as God. Just think about it, The guy is at the height of his power, once a part of the Beatles. He basically feels this sense of self-reliance and thinks he can take anything on. he has oceans of fans to support and love him. He does not need God. When Dylan writes the hit Christian song "gotta serve somebody". He is insulted by the idea and reacts against it. He writes "gotta serve yourself" as if to challenge God himself. He could have just let it go. but noo.. Why would a man - who thought of himself as God, believe in God? |

Lennon thought of himself as God. The guy is at the height of his power, he has everything he needs, he thinks he's self-reliant and can take on anything that goes against him. He has oceans of fans to support him and Love him. He's even insulted by Dylans gospel Hit. "Gotta serve somebody". Pridefully writes "Gotta serve yourself" to mock the idea of God. Think about it, he could have just let it go, but Noo.. in Lennon's mind God has to die. Why would a guy who thought of himself as God, believe in God? Lennon didn't need God. |

| Sleepytime Gorilla Museum – A Hymn to the Morning Star Lyrics | 18 years ago |

They're such a incredible band, and their music videos are just phenomenal.. strange for a Christian such as i, to give a positive comment on this specific song. this song seems to be an attack towards Christianity as "the greatest lie ever told".. " two thousand years of guilt and fear". i dunno maybe a song in the perspective of satan? The irony of their stance, in relation to the manner the song is orchestrated. I love the way its all been done. it seems that they are the adversary and must "remain the adversary" Are they insulting the institution that is Christianity, meaning the Christian Church that they are rising up against. Or is it the faith and philosophy of Christianity itself? There is a difference which they choose to overlook altogether. Or am i just being naive by saying that? or is it just a song done in the perspective of satan? Its a song i don't (shouldn't) take seriously, and it is a subject manner that the band itself obviously don't take seriously, but they are such a great band. In other words, i am a Christian, who loves Sleepytime gorilla museum for what they do, but i choose to throwout what they say, because it insults me and my intelligence, and what i've gone through as a Christian. ..the price for being "avante-garde" with their attempt to go against the foundations that have always lasted. |

"Oh, Gabriel Let me blow your horn" Sounds like a parody of an old spiritual to me. Ya i think this was an old song they changed to suit their own purposes. |

| Bob Dylan – Don't Think Twice, It's All Right Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I agree with much of what Emer327 has said. He truly loved her. The girl didn't love him. Neither did the girl care. The Song. It's pain, a yearning for closure. Reconciliation. and at the same time, everything but reconciliation. His anger, and reluctancy towards ending a relationship that never really happened. The Love is quickly fading away; the meaninglessness to even continue loving her is quickly becoming apparent. This Song is his farewell letter to the girl who didn't care about his Love. |

| Elliott Smith – Stupidity Tries Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
It sounds like when some dude tries(too hard?) to be in a relationship with someone "everything here is free, everything but you and me" But his motives, emotions, and feelings are getting in the way even if he tries his best "The enemy is within, dont confuse me with him" And now that he has regretfully done whatever stupid awkward deed to that person. "I couldnt think of a thing i hope tomorrow brings, oh what a surprise stupidity tries" Heheh.. i confess i can relate. |

"Cause blood in my mouth beats blood on the ground" He'd rather keep the pain to himself than make the situation even worse. The girl refuses to reconcile with him no matter how hard he tries. Not the best scenario to be placed into at all, ill tell u that. |

I really think elliott wrote his songs to be opened for interpretation.. even if there seems to be one true interpretation for this song which we probably would never know I can only base it on a personal experience i had when i was in a relationship with somebody. I was just totally exhausted of wondering what was making her feel the way she was feeling. And i couldnt figure it out because she wouldnt reveal anything. "i got pictures, i just don't see it anymore/ climbing hour upon hour through a total bore" Sorta sums up what i was feeling at that point of time.. i think. just contemplating over it in the back of my mind. Pretty sick, tired, bored, exasperated of thinking about it for so long... ...but its stuck in my unenlightened mind anyway. "with the one i keep where it never fades/in the safety of a pitch black mind/ an airless cell that blocks the day" It came to the point that I felt was fast approaching the state of mind: "Oh well, okay". So elliot's like please tell me before i feel that way. |
