Razorlight – America Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree with Skarlett, very much about watching American TV, news or movies that are very fast paced and conveniently pakaged and, dare I say, in the most part lacking any thought provocation and then thinking 'what relevance has that to do with me living here in UK, or wherever you may be?'
The 'panic'? Well just watch CNN (if you ever get stuck in a hotel with no other English channel available) trying to make out what a big deal some trivial headline is, on a no news day.

The Kinks – Waterloo Sunset Lyrics 18 years ago
I would never consider Waterloo (south of the Thames - area named after the battle where Napolean was defeated by the Prussian and British forces) as paradise. In fact having worked in the area and got mullered up with alarming regularity at the 'hole in the wall' and down 'the cut', staggering my way back through the bull-ring (when it used to be cardboard city before the Imax was built) I would say it is and was far from paradise. However the bacon butties at Marios (just opposite Waterloo station where Buster, the ex great train robber used to sell flowers) is still one of the best in the smoke.

Having said all that 'to look at the world from my window' just says so so much about life in waterloo and anywhere else that is an inperfect paradise.

is the pike really a pikey? an irish descended gypsy or 'new age traveller' who can often be found in and around liverpool. Similar to the Pikey who sold me Nan a new tarmac drive she didn't want?

The Stone Roses – Driving South Lyrics 18 years ago
yup, pretty much reminds you of Robert Johnson in deepest darkest Mississippi stood at crossroads selling his soul to the devil so he can play the Blues.

Except UK based, south of Manchester, perhaps at Alderley Edge or Crewe. Come to think of it, the devil is more likely to be in Crewe.

Pink Floyd – Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I - V) Lyrics 18 years ago
Bear with here, this was told to me many years ago. I heard that during the days of Syd pending demise he came to the recording studios (or wherever), his state steadily worsening but there was always a glint in his eye. One day he came in and the glint was gone, the rest of the band knew they'd lost Syd. Now read the lyrics again.

True? Probably not, but a nice story all the same. Shine on, You crazy Diamond.
