Duffy – Stepping Stone Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Menfor, You know, I knew I identified with it for a reason and I couldn't place it. The autobiographical parts, and out of context specifics are what kept me from getting it. Totally hooked on this song right now. Reminds me of being in similar situations... ~ |
Gnarls Barkley – Who's Gonna Save My Soul Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I just watched the video, seems to be about heartbreak and the consequences. Brilliant, look it up. As an aside... just went, am going through, this... very spot on... hurts enough to make you question everything... makes you greedy and it makes you feel lost. I think it talks to a certain kind of person though. Someone who when they get tossed they feel like they've lost their significance... ~ |
Beck – Guess I'm Doing Fine Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song got me through a huge breakup... Still makes me a little sad inside. But its a sadness that is important to me so I want to feel it. ~ |
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Cheated Hearts Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Androcles I like that interpretation. It's like perseverance. :) ~ |
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Cheated Hearts Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The opposite of love is not hate or lust... it's indifference. When you just don't care anymore. I kinda went through this. Cheated on my ex... because I just wasn't feeling the love anymore and it made me indifferent to the relationship... brings up the question of who's cheating really, the ignored one or the one that cheats to feel wanted again... To me, held up high has to do with the value you place on your relationship, the keeping the high and keeping the eye seems like she was reinvigorated by the cheating, but still had her heart in the first one... Taking it off could be about letting go of the stigma, or maybe the weight of what you were doing in your mind. Along with the others involved. I have no clue what to make of the other stuff though. Hard to say, maybe who sits on the "loved" pedestal? who's become the object of affection or important...? Bigger than the sound could be about her own idea of her importance and how it drove her to seek out attention. Then again, it could be about which color of skittles she likes to eat first. ~ |
Grizzly Bear – Easier Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Sounds like the last line could be "Because I still care for you"... not sure though, if it did, it'd feel a lot more tragic than it already does... ~ |
UNKLE – Rabbit In Your Headlights Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I've seen the video many times. And I love the connections people are drawing to the movie. I had a different thought when I first heard the song though, before seeing the video. I thought of anesthetized general public life cycle. Breed, become a generic christian suburbanite, afraid of the world, consume, then die alone in a nursing home. A life of fear, and uselessness. It also made me think of a moment of feeling fear and death in surgery. And the battle of consciousness of the self and the world versus the christian doctrine of "worldy=evil" even down to the moment of suffering and death. Haha, after reading that, I think my mind jumps into the vague with both eyes open. |
Gorillaz – Sound Check (Gravity) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Reliablity? Inevitablity? Beautiful song either way. Some days, I listen to man research, then this song, then back to man, then back here... all the way home from work. The mood of both of these songs is similar, and it makes for good creative juices. I think gorillaz songs are meaningful, in a blended sort of, what the music says vs. what the lyric say. Sort of like trying to explain what contentment feels like. It's a combination of things that create the meaning which is unique per person. |
The Wake – O Pamela Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Seems like it's about a man trying to avoid divorce after a long marraige. Maybe he cheated... Either way it seems like he destroyed something. He's seeing that she's moving on and trying to bring her back while reconsiliation is still possible. |
Gorillaz – Man Research (Clapper) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I thought he was saying... "Peel the marrow from my bones" but I guess I'm just dark like that... |
Cat Power – The Greatest Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is amazing... I really have a nagging urge to listen to it until I can really find some solid personal meaning to it... but... I'm at work... :P |
The Cranberries – Sunday Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think kia need some counceling. Or maybe he/she just needs to pull his/her head out of his/her ass. |
Cranes – Paris and Rome Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song goes on my list of "songs that give me chills". But I didn't know the meaning till I found the lyrics. It's bittersweet farewell is so powerful, by the music, yet so subtle in phrase. SOOO good. |
Cranes – Future Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Holy shit! I just got the live in italy album, and I'm hooked on this song, came here to check out the lyrics and realized I'm going through a VERY SIMILAR SITUATION... I love this band. And is misspelled Ans twice in the 5th section. |
Sparklehorse – King Of Nails Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Whoo... I guess I could just go for it... Seems like it's about introspection of guilt and past wrongs, from a perspective of someone in love or lust or just infatuation. |
The Cure – A Letter to Elise Lyrics | 18 years ago |
These lines always get me - But I let the dream go And the promises broke And the make-believe ran out... - It speaks volumes. That "pretend" that people play when they love eachother but know it's not working. I just went through that. Its where all of the little wrongs that never got fixed build up and tear things apart. COMMUNICATION!!! |
Lush – For Love Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I've always loved this song. It's funny though, I used to think the line "She'll make thier fall, seem beautiful" was "she'll make a fool, seem beautiful" So it seemed to me that the song was about that intense teenage crush that this superficial girl projects onto the guy. He seems aware of her obliviousness of her own constructed relationship with him, so she creates the drama of the ending and in typical "wasn't that important in the first place" fashion, she longs for the next crush as she has forgotten the pain of the last. But now that I know it's "their fall"... I'm confused again. Either way it still seems about the selfish girl and her constructions. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Rocket Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song always puts me in a good mood, inspires me and makes me defiant and positive. I think it's the chant "I shall be free, I shall be free free, Free from these voices inside of me" As though I'm shutting out my own self doubt, not giving voice to my negativity. One of my favorites. |
Portishead – Half Day Closing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love this song. I think it's the intensity. It seems so funny that it is about longing and a loss of our strenght of will... but for some reason when I listen to it I always feel empowered somehow... |
