Ladytron – Playgirl Lyrics

I always took this song as one about procrastination - playgirl is not necessarily a literal name, but something that the narrator yells at themself - asking why aren't you doing something productive. I took sleep to mean literally sleep or idleness. |

Russian and Bulgarian are close enough sound wise that I, a student of Russian in dire need of improvement, sometimes understands a bit of the Bulgarian.
This song is one of my favorites, it's wonderful. :D |

This song seems to peaceful to be about drunkness, but to each their own. It seems very dreamy, about looking back on events feeling a certain degree of innocence. |

It seems like two people almost were connected to each other, almost understood each other, but the distance between them, emotionally speaking, was too great. |

Sarah Brightman – Only An Ocean Away... Lyrics
| 15 years ago

I first heard this song when I was maybe 16. I listened to it, and thought "what a song for travelers. It must be so sad to be in this situation..." and reflected on how much romance and intrigue must be in someone's life, and resources! in order to have that be applicable.
And then, I grew up (I'm twenty two) and traveled across the ocean a couple times, and found myself in that situation.
In Russia, this song was almost about my partner, who was still in the United States, but there were no illusions to be chasing. But now, as I am in the U.S., looking back at Russia, unsure if I want to return, if I will be able to return... there is someone there, who became close with me, that I became rather attached to, and this song eerily applies exactly to the situation that was. Someone I miss, but wanted more than was possible, and now, will I ever see them again? They are only an ocean away.... |

Creed – In America Lyrics

I dislike this song. It's very easy to be critical of our country, as if there is a place where the world is wrong. And his assertion that abortion and sexuality are the problems with our country is over looking roots of problems. Besides, the legality of the abortion isn't a bad thing. |

One part success and one part ignorance is bliss. It took a long time to erect the understanding or misunderstanding, but that is preferable than the alternative, whatever that is. |

t.A.T.u. – Klouny Lyrics

This song always felt fragmented to me, but I am not sure if that's because it's supposed to be shallow or if it is suppose to represent the fragmented and craziness of life, where what you see random sights and sounds and so forth. |

Enigma – Turn Around Lyrics

On second thought, I think this song is more about a sort of beginning of a friendship in the middle of a transition in life. Someone is exposing someone to something else that is new, but it's also happening in a chaotic time. The only certain thing in the outcome is the intimacy of the friendship. |

Initially when I saw the title, I was thinking, "Oh God, not another song about Buffalo's decline," because I live in the city, but I love this song. It reminds me not just relationships, but friendships too. |

I feel like this song is about the American government's reaction to global warming and the Iraq war in both exploitation and unwillingness to fix it.
I find it interesting that a few mostly apolitical artists are all of a sudden writing about political issues. |

I don't think the emotional unavailability is necessarily because of a bad relationship. There are other reasons it could be, in my humble opinion.
I think it's more of the possible start of a relationship, people are close to each other but can't take it to the next level for whatever reason. |

The song is so peaceful. I believe the peace the song brings, plus the lyrics is meant to convey something greater than life an existence. A great memorial song. |

I also think the song refers to the brink of something that happened with a defined point. Specifically, a relationship ended, and now they are free. |

Ladytron – Destroy Everything You Touch Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
I think this song is someone sarcastically telling someone that they are ruining everything in their life and they don't know exactly how badly they are doing it. "Anything that may delay you / Might just save you" is them saying that they need outside intervention. "Destroy me this way" is saying that if you're going to ruin everything else, you might as well destroy what you have with me. |
