i think that this song is a reflection on an infidelity, from what i can decipher. he feels guilty about cheating on his lover the night before. 'Now it's day and I've been trying to get that taste off my tongue I was dreaming of just you, now our cereal, it is warm. Attractive day in the rubble of the night from before Now I can't walk in a vacuum, I feel ugly, feel my pores Then I start to feel tragic, people greet me, I'm polite "What's the day?" "Whats you doing?" "How's your mood?" "How's that song?" Man it passes right by me, it's behind me, now it's gone And I can't lift you up cause my mind is tired It's family beaches that I desire A sacred night, where we'll watch the fireworks The frightened babies poo They've got two flashing eyes and they're colorblind They make me feel that I'm only all I see sometimes' ^He's utterly repulsed from what he did the previous night, and feels that he ruined what he had with his girl, because previously he was dreaming of just her, but now he's ruined it, like warm cereal. He's going about the next day like nothing happened, and to all others, it's a seemingly 'attractive day' for him. But he can't go about his day to day without feeling 'ugly'. He tries his best to act normal, and when people greet him, he's polite. He loves his girl, and wants to make a family with her, reflecting on all the times they've spent together, but he's feeling so guilty and like a self-centered asshole, which he makes clear in the line: 'I'm only all I see sometimes.' The part about eating with a good friend is all a mystery to me though. Anybody else feel this? |
