Britney Spears – Toxic Lyrics

I always thought this song was about smoking, which is one of Britney's very unattractive and nasty features. Or perhaps some other drug she might be addicted to. |

Love and Rockets – No New Tale to Tell Lyrics

You mean that awesome solo in this song? I think it's flute- whatever it is, I love it.
I also love this lyric:
People like to hear their names
I'm no exception
Please call my name |

LL Cool J – Mama Said Knock You Out Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
"Anyhow, what's the deal with "Farmers"?"
Farmers Boulevard is a street in Queens and the Farmers are LL's people from that area.
I absolutely LOVED this song when I was a twelve-year old. Even if it is a little over the top, I still get really psyched up when I hear it. |

Bruce Springsteen – Born to Run Lyrics

Everyone who lives in NJ wants to get the hell out, or at least those who live in the poorer towns. I'm working on it myself.
But anyway, this is great song with excellent metaphors, especially the velvet rims/engines one. I can see why all the older women around here (NJ) just adore Bruce, with sexy lyrics like those and sweet ones like "Jersey Girl." My mom included.
Ironically I once got in an auto accident while listening to this song. |

Pearl Jam – Black Lyrics

I considered this "one of Pearl Jam's lame slow songs" for many years, but then I actually listened to the lyrics. I'm not surprised this song has inspired eight pages of discussion, it's emotional and very powerful and anyone who has lost love (and losing can happen many ways, not only death) can feel the meaning. |

Boz Scaggs – Lido Shuffle Lyrics

Being from the Philadelphia area, I can tell you that Lito Sheppard plays cornerback for the Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL. I can also tell you that Chris Berman is an (American) football TV commentator who likes to make humorous pop culture references. For example, Berman sings a little of this song when Lito (oh, whoa-oh-oh) Sheppard is featured on a highlight.
As for this song, it's about a guy with a gambling problem. Which is fitting when applied to Lito Sheppard- he often takes a football risk by trying for interceptions when he could make safer defensive plays! |

Genesis – Who Dunnit? Lyrics

I don't know "Who Dunnit" but the whole "We know" repetition would put me in mad fits of laughter as a kid since it sounded like "Wiener! weiner! weiner! weiner! weiner! weiner! weiner! weiner! weiner! weiner!" |

Sting – Fortress Around Your Heart Lyrics

I've heard many songs in my life, and these lyrics remain my favorite **ever**. The metaphors that Sting uses here appeal to my love of military history and I can apply the meanings to my own past relationships. I LOVE THIS SONG. |

Underrated song. I'm not even really into this kind of music but this song fricking launched a genre. When I hear this on the car stereo I CRANK IT. |
