The Blow – True Affection Lyrics 16 years ago
What a clever song. I think the line "You were 20,000 underneath the sea", as in "20,000 leagues under the sea" is so brilliant and cute and catchy.

It's not BECA, it's BECCA. If you look at the song, he says...

B is for believing you'd always be here for me.
E is for everything, even when we'd see it though.
C, C is for seeing through you, you are a fake,
which brings me to A because, because, you always run away.

The C shows up twice for a reason. He's spelling out Becca, the girl who slept with someone she didn't know.

Also, has anyone noticed how almost every song they do has something in it that relates to myspace?

Also, at the part where he's saying...

"And you lock your door,
Like I've been here before.
I feel like I've seen a ghost.

She says she's leavin on a Sunday,
Oh that leaves me one more night.
Can I take you home?
I know it's wrong, but I know your type."

Since she's already "home", maybe he's taking homebase, as in going "all the way". It makes sense, because right after he's talking about how he regrets having sex with her since he get's wrapped up in love way too easily.

What do you guys think?

Okay, I didn't get the whole myspace thing from the song, but now that I think about, it would make sense.

The line "I've read every word you've said from a poster of a cat" refers to those cheesey "HANG IN THERE" and "I HATE MONDAYS" posters, this meaning that she speaks very simply and uses a lot of overused chiches.

What I get from the song is that the guy is in a party and he sees all of these young kids and feels old, but then he sees someone like him and wants to get to know her, regardless her age difference, so he takes her home to where he realizes how much younger and immature she really is. They have a one night stand, but he seems to want more out of it.

The song revolves around different levels of maturity and how two different ages want different things out of relationships.

This is by far their best song. It's catchy, and the lyrics are so true.

Panic! at the Disco – There's a Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought of It Yet Lyrics 18 years ago
I see this song as a guy getting back at his ex. They went through a really messy breakup, and both of them are still bitter.

So he crashes their party, and tries to loosen all the rich people up by instructing them to "leave all overcoats, canes, and top hats with the doorman". He's becoming a "cancer" in the party by influencing and taking over the partygoers.

The ex reads the lips of those at the party, hearing them say "where did he get all confident?" and, with this, becomes very emotional.

She goes to the bathroom to try and regain her composure by telling herself that she's still a diva, but hears those around her saying things about her (I believe the line IS "To them, your name is 'Cheap', and you look like shhhhh").

But, her jealously distracts her from seeing his true plot; he's trying to murder her and her followers (the rich people) by lacing their ciggerets with nitroglicerin and spiking their punch.

This is just what I got from the song. It explains everything pretty well, including the nitroglicerin and spiking the punch part that people were having a hard time decifering.

Hope this helped!

Actually, it is milky seat (I even went back to my cd cover to check that one out), but yeah. It is one good fucking tune.

Also, to brain_stew... the reference to "liar" in the beginning of the song is a transition from Holy Mountains to Vicinity of Obscenity (you can hear the continuation of the ending note on to the next song, Vicinity). If you listen to the complete album, you will hear the way that System of a Down has linked the songs (brilliantly, if I might add). I doubt it has any real part of the song except for bringing a new sound and concept to the previous lyrics in Holy Mountains; “liar, killer, demon”.

It's interesting... while I defiantly see a side of sex and fetishes, I also see a completely different view of this song from those who have already posted on here...

People sometimes perceive basic words or things to be something different (usually sexual) in today's world. So, something as random as banana and terracotta pie become sexual references to most of us based on our way of thinking. Other phrases, like "beat the meat" or "treat the feet" can mean something else entirely (if you get sex out of your mind).

But, for me, the line "vicinity of obscenity in your eye" is the big message of the song. They’re saying that you are the true decider on what is obscene and what is not.

And just to make it clear to everyone, System of a Down has a meaning to every song they write. The beauty of their lyrics is that people can take their own view on what it means to them.

This, to me, is one of their best songs just because of how many different meanings people can get from just one song.

Much Love!
