P.O.D. – Goodbye For Now Lyrics 13 years ago
MrJRK, my interpretation of:
"When will we sing a new song? A new song"
"And you can sing until there's no song left (song left)"
is about whoever "we" is, and the question of when they can finally free themselves from the melancholy lives they lead.. the "new song," i think, CAN be taken literally... in that they wonder when the new song can be sung, a happier one... as opposed to this one, which carries an undertone of profound loneliness and cynicism... but in order for this new song to be sung, the attitude of the singer(s) needs to be changed... and in order for THAT to happen, something needs to take place which will cause them to believe in something that makes them feel better... and this belief is required in order for them to alter their attitude.. to change your attitude, you have to believe in the existence of the reason you're changing it

Linkin Park – In The End Lyrics 13 years ago
no matter how hard you try, it won't matter in the end.. because in the end, your existence leaves no trace. you won't even be a mere memory

Finger Eleven – Broken Words Lyrics 13 years ago
when the silence is listened to, it isn't heard. then it's assumed that there is a lack of communication. then the relationship falls apart... by the time it's over, you're ready to speak in a language that can be understood by your partner (as in, not in complete silence), it's too late. they leave you. and there's nothing you can say to bring them back, even though all they really wanted was to hear you speak. ironic... and so very sad.

Velvet Revolver – Slither Lyrics 13 years ago
here comes the water... it comes to wash away the sins of you and i... we have been forgiven, but we must not forget what we have done... holy water will burn us because we're unholy... but the rain will purify us.. rain does not discriminate between who sins more than others, who sins less than others, or who does what... it helps to ease everyone

Mandalay – This Life Lyrics 13 years ago
such a sad song... *sigh* to dream that someone has come back for you, and to wake up to realize that it will never be your reality... i can only imagine that it would have been better for the one who was left to not have awakened from the dream, the only chance to attain happiness...

A Perfect Circle – The Noose Lyrics 13 years ago
a rather poignant song... i interpret it is as someone speaking to another person who has done immoral acts, and although this person's conscience has been freed out of guilt... the narrator yearns for (let's say) his friend to realize how his/her actions have hurt others, and that he/she has to do something to make up for the damage he has caused... i think it's a in-your-face song, with the message "okay, you've done bad and you no longer feel bad about it... but you're no angel either, so stop behaving like you are one... you've hurt others, and if you don't do something about it, you'll eventually pay for it.." harsh eh? heh... but the truth often is

A Perfect Circle – Orestes Lyrics 13 years ago
to make this song unrelated to mythology for a change, i'll personalize it. i feel like it's about someone who's emotionally attached to someone who does not reciprocate. because this is the case, the first person is really hurt and wants to cut away, clear away, snip away and sever the umbilical residue... it's as if the source of this person's happiness can be found in the other person, but because the emotions are not mutual, the first person wants to clear away the residue, which is everything that makes up the emotional attachment, so that the pain can lessen at last...

David Usher – Message Home Lyrics 13 years ago
i love the use of the piano in this song... the opening sequence immediately grabs my attention... it sounds like a song where someone will do anything to be loved by the person that he/she loves... the need to be loved in return is so overwhelming that he/she would change his/her lifestyle to achieve his/her goal of being loved... it's often said that loves makes people go blind... we've all gone blind

David Usher – Devil By My Side Lyrics 13 years ago
the piano opening is great... and so are the lyrics. a rather optimistic song... my favourite line is "believe your truth is not my truth"... very poignant and straightforward. "believe that hate will never die" makes me think that 1) it will never die, so don't bother try to eradicate it; and 2) we can BELIEVE that it will never die, but we can solider on and make sure that it WILL die... i'd like to think the second interpretation is the more accurate one, since it fits in with the positive perspective that's taken for much of the song... the devil's by my side, but he's not going to destroy... it's hard when you realize that you'll never have what you've tried to find, but it doesn't mean that you won't find it! don't let the devil (or the negative) control you... great message.

David Usher – the wolves Lyrics 13 years ago
a harsh (and probably accurate) view of humanity finished off with a positive line. the lyrics are so honest and heartbreaking because they seem true to me. a feeling of insecurity is evoked... panic and fear is rampant. fear of abandonment... be careful, the wolves might catch up to you... love is the only thing that can stop them from harming you.

David Usher – St Lawrence River Lyrics 13 years ago
beautiful song. to me, it's about someone who has died and is being carried to the st. lawrence river... the place where the deceased wanted to be the most. the narrator and the deceased person, while alive, had problems which were never mended... but the song depicts the deceased's utmost wish: to return to this place... and this is the narrator's way of making amends... and he/she will stay with the body, even if it means freezing.... such a moving song.
