Joanna Newsom – Emily Lyrics 14 years ago
I can't believe no-one has commented.

"anyhow, I sat by your side, by the water
you taught me the names of the stars overhead that I wrote down in my ledger
though all I knew of the rote universe were those pleiades loosed in december
I promised you I‘d set them to verse so I'd always remember

that the meteorite is a source of the light
and the meteor's just what we see
and the meteoroid is a stone that's devoid of the fire that propelled it to thee

and the meteorite's just what causes the light
and the meteor's how it's perceived
and the meteoroid's a bone thrown from the void that lies quiet in offering to thee"

that is one of the most beautiful things in the world. without a doubt

Joanna Newsom – Sawdust and Diamonds Lyrics 14 years ago
yeah, that is what this is about. this is my second favourite song, behind clam, crab, cockle, cowrie.

i think this one is tied with emily. i'm hoping for a studio version of this and emily on the upcoming album

Songs: Ohia – Lioness Lyrics 14 years ago
this is his response/imagined situation of a poem written by Gwen Harwood called The Lion's Bride.
the Lion has a feeder who he loves, and thinks she loves him, then one day she comes into the cage with her wedding dress on, and the lion thinks she's a ghost, so he kills her as a meal for his 'bride' who ironically he just killed.
he told me so once.

it isn't about her dog, she said so in her live show that she played at the Athaeneum Theatre.

she actualyl forgot how to play the song mid song. it was sooooo cute.
