Therapy? – Die Like A Motherfucker Lyrics 12 years ago
Where do the lyrics suggest anything about Bush or Blair? Seems more like a comment on soulless consumer society to me.

Tom Waits – Another Man's Vine Lyrics 12 years ago
It's about women leaving men for other men. I especially like the the chorus.

I love this song. I agree with the comments above. I wanted to point people to this song: http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=50509 which, lyrically, is very similar. I'm sure Tom Waits must be one of Kelly Jones' major influences for this song.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – O Children Lyrics 13 years ago
It sounds like a school massacre to me. Not 100% sure, but that's the impression I get.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Little Empty Boat Lyrics 13 years ago
Is the little boat his faith in god, which he has lost, hence the oar being broken?

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Darker with the Day Lyrics 13 years ago
This is quickly becoming my favourite song off this album. He has obviously lost a woman close to him. I think she may be dead, despite the line "you looked so beautiful..." I think the line "I passed by your garden, saw you with your flowers" could be a reference to this, i.e. the garden is a graveyard, flowers on the top.

The song seems to me to be about his despair at the loss of this woman. He may be considering suicide ("I thought i'd take a final walk"), but generally everything he sees is disgusting and he hates the world and in his mind the world is being destroyed.

Tori Amos – Gold Dust Lyrics 13 years ago
I think I read somewhere that it's about her daughter, and that fits in with the lyrics for me. it's about cherishing what you have before it's gone.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – There She Goes, My Beautiful World Lyrics 13 years ago
I don't think it's so much about losing the muse, more to do with wanting someone to be his muse, but she isn't. The lines:

I look at you and you look at me and
deep in our hearts know it
That you weren't much of a muse,
but then I weren't much of a poet

indicate that to me. Also, he is willing to do anything to have that muse, as he says in the verses " i will lie at your feet" etc. It's a song about envy of the great artists, and also about desire to be one of those great people, but the realisation that he is not really good enough.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – The Sorrowful Wife Lyrics 13 years ago
I don't think the relationship was doomed, I think he didn't try hard enough and he's sorry for it. Avery honest and powerful song
