The Dillinger Escape Plan – Destro's Secret Lyrics 16 years ago
Whatever the theme of the song is, you have to love the "sun dripped devil" part. You can feel the pressure and tension building. It's a weirdly painful chant.

A Silver Mt. Zion – Mountains Made of Steam Lyrics 16 years ago
Somehow, all of Silver Mt. Zion's songs get back to the relevance of the government and it's involvement in the world. Well, most of them anyway.

Most of them deal with the terror induced by war.

I think in a general sense, this song seems to be about the sinking of a naval regiment. But looking a little further into this song, it seems to evolve into... well, more of a battle against anxiety and panic. The sinking of a naval regiment may just be a vessel for this type of communication.

Uh, what I mean to say is that this song, of course, puts the pressure on believing. Believe in dreams. And dreams of course, symbolize adherent hope. So, Efrim projects the message that we should all believe in a connotational hope, though, (what I love about this song) is that it is in vain.

Look at the whole song. The entire effort feels like it is in vain. As if you really are on a sinking boat and everyone is panicking. You can probably tell why Efrim cracks "PLEASE BELIEVE" so loud, due to this.

It is as if this song tells you to pray and to hold on to what you have, but you look pretty pitiful in comparason to your ultimate demise. Sinking. Drowning. Suffocating.

Steam, essential, is a water vapor kept under pressure to be used as a force. Steam engines aptly support this fact. So, steam is power. Mountains made of steam, essentially, are mountains made of vapor power. Hope and steam aren't too far apart in comparason. But, c'mon, "Mountains Made of Hope" doesn't sound as catchy. Steam sticks in more sharp satire, as having your head full of "hot ssteam" just means you have some foolish fanatical idea not worth supporting.

This song seems even more brutal now. Hope in vain. Well, that's just my interpretation...

I admire this group to death.

Wilco – I Am Trying to Break Your Heart Lyrics 16 years ago
To shed my own personal light on this, I will give a breif interperatation:

"you're quite a quiet domino" - Naturally, we all know that dominoes are objects meant to fall in correspondence with eachother, one by one. So, Tweedy might be indicating that she (as with all other people) are meant to fall in a specific line, such as heartbreak. So he says that she is a "quiet domino" in that it is hard to tell the next time she is going to fall.

"bury me now" - This coincides with the idea of him being a depressed drunk. As with the past line about her being a quiet domino, he might be saying "what the hell, you should just bury me now" since if her fate is inevitable, so is his, so it seems to say "we might as well seperate and just skip to our deaths". Then again, contradicting this is the way Tweedy sings it, as if he is shrugging it off. So it might not be "I might as well die", but more of a sarcastic phrase of "I'm done now".

"take off your bandaid
'cause I don't believe in touchdowns" - These two seem to go hand-in-hand. Looking at this through a general male drunk viewpoint, a touchdown might be a quick and sweet sex session for a guy. You can just picture some ass talking to his friend like "Last night, she was crying, so I held her, and later man I made a touchdown. It was frickin' hot." So Tweedy here might be saying that she doesn't need to keep her guard up (protection, in other words. Because Band-Aids DO NOT rapair the wound, but rather, PROTECT it from infection) so he's telling her to take off her Band-Aid because he isn't gonna make a touchdown on her. Another piece suggesting the thought that their love is definitely over, because he doesn't really want her.

I love Tweedy's lyrics, because they're so different than what I consider "casual" lyrics to be. He just puts adjectives and nouns together that would never belong, and makes them work, because we get the feel of this song and what it is saying to us.

"I Am Trying to Break Your Heart" is a perfect example of a complete Wilco song.

Matt Pond PA – Halloween Lyrics 16 years ago
The "until it goes..." part throws me off a bit, so unless you know the lyrics, or until mppa produces the lyrics... uh... yeah, I still wouldn't know the official lines.

Anyway, this is quite the catchy song and seems to be based on leaving a party, or a home, or just some place that obviously isn't too good. I like how the song continues to build on itself, and I am looking foward to their new album.

It's the perfect seasonal creek song, with just two people. It's got a great beat and a great feel. I love all of the lyrics in this.

Pinback – Clemenceau Lyrics 16 years ago
This seems like one of the ultimate pissed/depression songs. Just the way the song progresses and the ending... hm, I don't know how to put it, but it really does give you this whole negative vibe. It's a great song. I love the feeling it gives off, because when your in the right mood, it feels like the only song that can ease your mind. I guessed it would be calmingly negative.

The fifth line is questionable, so if anyone knows what it is, the help would be accepted.

Anyway, this is my new fav. song of the month. It just as a mellow and understandable vibe that makes The American Analog Set great.

This is such a decent song, that seems to express some resentment, but respect... in a way. Good song.

Low – Don't Understand Lyrics 16 years ago
I believe this is one of Low's most brutal songs. It is just so... sort-of straightforward, but also, it is slightly cryptic, making it so the vision in your head about this song could be right, though it may be different from another persons' thoughts.

The song feels like it deals with irritation, that is... well, incomprehensible. Something that gets deep in the skin. Powerful to me, at being a six minute song of not understanding.

Death Cab for Cutie – The Face That Launched 1000 Shits (Revolutionary Hydra cover) Lyrics 16 years ago
I don't know if anyone else think about it like I do, but it seems like a pissed song. Well, not completely angry, I just mean it's one of those solemnly angry songs, where you don't take out your aggression pysically, but you mention it... yeah...

Sometimes I don't really define the song by it's lyrics, but rather, the... uh, emotion in the song itself, or the way it is played.

Héroes del Silencio – Mar Adentro Lyrics 16 years ago
Um, I am American, but I still love this song. From the best of my abilities and a translator (I'm cheap), I've come up with these lyrics:

And at last I have found the road
That should guide my steps,
And this night expects me the love
In your lips.
Of each look, by God,
The memory burned in my interior,
But already I have rejected
For always the rotten fruit.
I am in the prison of desire.
And although it should dig in the land
The tomb knows that to expects me,
Never nobody saw me to cry thus.
That finish a precious moment
And the coarseness happen him,
And to swim out at sea
And not to be able to leave.
I am in the prison of the desire
Next to you.
And at last I have found the road
That should guide my steps,
And this night expects me the love
In your lips.
Of each look, by God,
The memory burned in my interior,
And to swim out at sea
And did not want to leave.
I am in the prison of the desire
I am in the prison of the desire
Next to you.
I am in the prison of the desire
Next to you.

Yeah, I know, a lot of it doesn't make sense... but I absolutely adore this song. I can still really enjoy it, even if it is not in my native tongue.
