Anouk – Sacrifice Lyrics | 16 years ago |
she's talking about someone who's throwing his life away, while she can see the truth, which is that she's the good influence in his life. She made him cry by pointing out his faults, or him wanting to be better for her, but it just doesn't work. so "sacrifice me" and be happy without me, i'd rather you're happy without me, than unhappy with me. |
The Byrds – Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is a Season) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i beg to differ :D I think the other way around. As mentioned, i should ignore the comments i don't agree with, but i'm sorry, i have to admit i quite like a discussion. Especially about religion, cause it keeps surprising me! I think i'm probably one of the few people on this world who is NOT an idiot. Which of course, makes me the idiot for not following the mob. anyways, the big picture... What big picture? I think we're a fluke of the universe, as there are probably others out there, who knows. But somehow, this planet came to life, and creatures started to evolve and adjust to the environment and enemies, diseases etc... (those who are opposed to evolution, now sorry, that i won't get into, use your brain) So no further need to get into the 'i don't or do believe' subject. i think it's obvious where my thoughts lie. As for the song, i think it's just about life and all it's stages, just like it says. There are ups and downs, just the way it goes... no more than that i guess If anyone wants to get into the religionsubject though, i'd love to :D |
Hooverphonic – Mad About You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
besides alaira, you should kinda get what they're singing about... I mean, they're not easy songs to get, but there ARE evry clear meanings in most their songs. |
Ella Fitzgerald – Misty Lyrics | 17 years ago |
soulrebel has a point there as well. Misty could indeed be the tearing up of the eyes. Good point! |
Ryan Adams – Wonderwall (Oasis cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
my interpretation migth be a bit strange i don't know, but here it goes: I think it's about a couple who split up or are about to or something. I prefer the split up one, for me it works. One person is still completely in love with the other. Today is gonna be the day That they're gonna throw it back to you ==> talking to himself now, saying he'll tell her today he's still in love By now you should've somehow Realized what you gotta do ==> she should already know, even without telling her I don't believe that anybody Feels the way I do about you now ==> this sentence to me means that the person singing it thinks (or is) not good enough for the other one, and that's why they split. Thinking the other one is out looking for someone "better", he's justifying himself cause his love is so sincere. Backbeat the word was on the street That the fire in your heart is out ==> i heard you don't love me anymore, you moved on I'm sure you've heard it all before But you never really had a doubt ==> this leaves me a bit puzzled. I think it goes back to the telling-bit. Kinda like others have told her and she must have known in her heart. I don't believe that anybody feels The way I do about you now And all the roads we have to walk along are winding And all the lights that lead us there are blinding ==> It's a neverending circle. The feelings between the two remain, but maybe the singer is just not quite good enough. But the love is very true and real, it's just hard to get over other differences, i'm thinking class or just plain intelligence. Although the love is there, they can't make it work, but can't help it, they're drawn to each other. All the lights are blinding = everytime they try, it's a bright light, very good in the beginning, but they start to blind them from their love, probably start fighting again or drifting apart. There are many things that I would Like to say to you I don't know how Because maybe You're gonna be the one who saves me? ==> cause maybe, if they stay together, they will find true happines. If they can get over the differences.. And after all You're my wonderwall Since i think the singer is the one not good enough for the other one, he's singing how he looks up to her, his wonderwall. The one that can make everything better, true happines... Today was gonna be the day But they'll never throw it back to you ==> the singer saying to himself he isn't gonna get lucky on this one, "they'll never throw it back to you" = he feels like the world is against him Extra: I know Liam wrote it for his wife, but i don't think that as a songwriter, everything comes from your point of view. It might as well have been her words put to music as far as i'm concerned. She was depressed alot, right? Well, she might be saying to him how she feels she's not good enough, and that he is the only light in her life. Also, my opnion might be blurred by the fact that what he sings (or what I explained) is just something i went through, but i thought it fit perfectly! :) there was my five cents PS: i agree with some here: i like oasis, and at first thought this was terrible. But a friend just kept playing it and i had to start to listen to the lyrics and emotion in this song. Now i'm hooked! |
Lily Allen – Friday Night Lyrics | 17 years ago |
copper, i think it's because "cunt" is really, seriously, unbelievably NOT said unles you truely truely hate the person or think she is utterly disgusting... Think Brittish! |
Sarah McLachlan – When Somebody Loved Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
ever think about all those little tiny hints in her songs about woman on woman love? I mean, i'm not saying she's gay or anything, but seriously, it's in a copuple songs. Always vague enough though, fun i think! always makes me chuckle... |
Sarah McLachlan – Push Lyrics | 17 years ago |
cay, that best friend of yours, marry him! this is indeed a very sweet little song, not one of her most meaningful maybe, but no less emotion and sincerity in her voice, which is why i am in total awww of sarah mclachlan |
Sarah McLachlan – Plenty Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i seem to remember reading something about this song. I'm not completely sure though, but anyways. This is a song she wrote about someone who she dated, this person was somewhat urhm, shakey. Not really the best person, let's not say a loser, but definitely no catch. she made herself believe that she could help them, turn him round and really make this into something. She convinced herself that she loved him out of an urge to help him. It does kinda make sense "i would stand by you no matter what they'd say" |
Sarah McLachlan – Perfect Girl Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think it's about someone being such a big perfectionist. Everything about her needs to be perfect, no mistakes. She has to realise she's a wonderful person, cause striving for it all the time makes her unhappy (everything will come around in time) |
Saybia – The Second You Sleep Lyrics | 17 years ago |
my view is, duh, about love. (why is it that every song out there seems to be about love? at least to me?) Maybe about a relationship where both people realise it isn't going anywhere, despite that they still love each other, but as adults, have decided to take different paths in life. It's their last night together, and the singer wants to take it in as much as possible... Even though it's for the best, i wish by god you'd stay... |
Absynthe Minded – acquired taste Lyrics | 17 years ago |
2 people, singer obviously has a thing for someone, and although that person probably feels the same thing, they can't do anything because of personal issues all over. They are an acquired taste, especially cause they can't commit to anything. Well, that's what i think of the lyrics, but all comments would be great! |
The Byrds – Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is a Season) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i agree with alwaysanole, i get how everyone can place their opinion on here, but sometimes it's just TOO MUCH! God here and there, the reason of all being blabla, all that stuff, each his own, if you want/need a god to validate your existance, by all means, be my guest, but don't overdo it plz... This is not really a comment on the comments here though, cause i can see that this song is based on bible texts, no problem with that, but in general, people are too hung up on religion! |

Hooverphonic – Mad About You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i just wanted to note that people from belgium and the netherlands (speaking flemish and dutch which is the same difference as american and brittish english, so actually the same) speak english pretty well. We are exposed to the language from a very young age through music and films. We always use subtitels and never dub, which means, from the moment we start watching tv, we are exposed to the language, which means it comes quite natural to most of us. Hooverphonic does not just scramble words together, they can however be somewhat freaky ;) |
Robbie Williams – Make Me Pure Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think he's just talking to god, kinda saying something like: I know I messed up, but it was fun, I hope I still get some chances from you to mess up a couple of times before i fall from grace. |
Ella Fitzgerald – Misty Lyrics | 18 years ago |
misty is simpelweg mistig. Door de mist (in dit geval de liefde) zie je niets anders meer dan die persoon. Dat is het enige wara je nog aan kan denken, maakt niet uit wat ze/hij met je doet, zolang ze/hij je ziet staan. Mijn interpretatie althans... |

Nat King Cole – Smile Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i think the song is about desperation. About not WANTING to cry, but not being able to do anything but. Just trying to get yourself through... |

Elvis Costello – She Lyrics | 18 years ago |
'she' is absolutely gorgeous! Far better than the more popular 'i want you' if you ask me. |
Anouk – Girl Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i read as a comment at the song 'lost' "she sounds like a chicken" lol ok, never mind that, i LOVE this song, it has a hidden meaning to it! a scramble of words. the second girl, girl, girl in the lyrics is followed by "get it while it's hot they say" but wht she REALLY sings is "eddy wally's hot they say" you might think, who the hell is eddy wally? Well, eddy wally is a, well, how can i say this gently, a lost soul-singer kind of man. Loves elvis, a little slow, very very happy, but a bit of a schmuck. He's pretty known in belgium (where he lives) and the netherlands (where anouk comes from) listen to it! :D ps: it's about a girl telling a good woman friend of hers about her crush, i think... |
