Yeasayer – Henrietta Lyrics 8 years ago
More accurate lyrics:

Fever in the night, and the tremors come on
But it's you who'll survive, just like nobody thought
Nails turnin' red, lying cold on the bed
And now it turns out, death's not the end

She was a bone, we sharpened our teeth
A magnificent drone, was serving under our feet
You'll be making me rich, he'll throw you away
And after he's gone, oh HeLa's here to stay

Radiation makes you weak, tried okays leave your speech
The world owes more than they'll pay, in the wind I heard them say...

Oh Henrietta, we can live on forever...

alt-J – Interlude 1 Lyrics 8 years ago
I think this song is about someone with OCD.

submissions
Kimbra – Warrior Lyrics 9 years ago
On first listen I never would have guessed this song was about the confusion of the human condition in the modern scientific non-religious world, but it is and that is awesome.

Future of the Left – Polymers Are Forever Lyrics 9 years ago
"it's about the environmental/marine impact of plastic waste, in a customarily indirect way" - Falco.

Architecture in Helsinki – B4 3D Lyrics 9 years ago
lovely song, but seems AIH got confused here - the stars generate their own light, so if you took away the sun they'd just keep on shining! The moon on the other hand only reflects light from the sun, so perhaps they got some wires crossed...

submissions
Eric Clapton – Wonderful Tonight Lyrics 9 years ago
as a few people pointed out, this is actually about a bloke in a wheelchair with a beautiful carer wife.

submissions
Against Me! – The Ocean Lyrics 9 years ago
I love reading all the comments and seeing just how wrong people were. The bisexual guess wasn't as far off the mark as many replies to that comment suggested! The one guessing the second verse is about George Bush is particularly funny!

Just goes to show how much our preconceptions shape our beliefs. Where else are we misguided?

submissions
The Mars Volta – In Absentia Lyrics 9 years ago
best tune on the album. the ending is audio chocolate.

submissions
Jack White – Love Interruption Lyrics 9 years ago

I think this guy is right, these lyrics are way too ridiculous to be meant to be taken seriously!

submissions
Tame Impala – Solitude Is Bliss Lyrics 11 years ago
after a few weeks partying I can completely relate to this song. Company is great but after not having a moment alone for so long solitude is truly bliss. "You will never come close to how I feel" - I guess this line is to those extroverts that never spend any time alone and will never understand why the introverts do it or how enjoyable it is for them.

It could be about psychedelic drugs, but I don't think so... the above explanation is far simpler and obvious.

submissions
Tame Impala – It Is Not Meant to Be Lyrics 11 years ago
I can't decide what happens at the end either... I think yes he is talking about himself in the third person, and maybe he has eventually gotten with the girl and she has taken over his life and his friends never see him any more (as often happens).

submissions
Soulja Boy – Turn My Swag On Lyrics 11 years ago
this song is an allegory for the unjustified personification and disruption towards the youth and dissemination of black culture. "Swag" here is a metaphor for the black man's penis - Soulja Boy turns his penis on and checks it out in the mirror, and by doing so, is able to make money. How can they hate on a man with such a gargantuan sized penis he asks?

submissions
Pure Reason Revolution – Valour Lyrics 11 years ago

The Mighty Boosh – Electro Boy Lyrics 11 years ago
the line "Driving along on the plastic dream" has the identical melody to the line "Getting rid of the albatross" in the song Albatross by Public Image Ltd. Deliberate, accident, or coincidence I wonder?

submissions
My Brightest Diamond – Workhorse Lyrics 11 years ago
that is on the surface she is talking to a horse... I'd imagine it's actually a metaphor, describing some character as a workhorse, but the details I'm not sure of.

Nine Inch Nails – You Know What You Are? Lyrics 11 years ago
I think you're wrong. To me this seems to be an introspective song, which seems fairly obvious as he speaks in first person during the verses. Then in the chorus he challenges himself "Don't you fucking know who you are?!"
Sounds like Reznor was having some problems with his success or the 'rock star' image he felt he needed to maintain.

submissions
Mclusky – She Will Only Bring You Happiness Lyrics 11 years ago
alliteration my friend, alliteration.

submissions
Nine Inch Nails – Capital G Lyrics 11 years ago
your god doesn't sign his name with anything because your god is pretend.
Obviously when trent says his new god "signs his name with a Capital G" he means that's what his worshippers insist on doing.

submissions
Nine Inch Nails – Capital G Lyrics 11 years ago
"Traded in my god for this one
He signs his name with a Capital G"
He traded his old god for "this one" - his new god who's name must be spelt with a capitol G. Is it that confusing?
Most likely talking about the christian god I would imagine, as those nutsos are always insisting that god be spelt "God" with the capitol.

submissions
The Notorious B.I.G. – Dead Wrong Lyrics 11 years ago
man, these lyrics are just so fucking unnecessarily offensive! It's too bad the Ratatat remix of this kicks so much arse because if it wasn't then I wouldn't have to listen to these shitty lyrics.

submissions
Future of the Left – Manchasm Lyrics 12 years ago
It is NOT straight up rock. If I had to corner them into a genre I'd call them post-hardcore, but that perhaps doesn't do them justice.
Future of the Left are far too interesting and innovative to be classified as "straight up rock."

submissions

some sweet rhymes here, first half of the first verse is awesome.

The Mae Shi – Pwnd Lyrics 12 years ago
"Here's a new sensation--it's called destiny, manifest."

Manifest Destiny is the belief that the US is destined to take over the entire American continent.

Perhaps the song is warning of the consequences of the globalisation of the US, in a metaphorical apocalypse.

should be:
"I am a poet who composes what the world proposes"

Saul Williams – 1987 Lyrics 13 years ago
this is amazing... love how it starts out as a fairly normal sounding hip hop track then morphs into this crazy psychedelic monster and then into that amazing ending.

as for the meaning, i've really got no idea.

For those who might not know "Strictly Business" is an album by EPMD, and "You're A Customer" is a song from it.
The lines:
'It's like "beam me up, Scottie", I control your body
I'm as deadly as AIDS when it's time to rock a party'
are taken from the song "Strictly Business" by EPMD.
