cLOUDDEAD – Apt. A, Part 1 Lyrics
|
Lost childhood. That's what this song always seemed like to me. All of Why?'s verses are talking about his past, the things he used to cherish ("My whole childhood was the broken guitar, and my sister's silly yellow blanket"), and the way he used to see the world ("I saw in a movie and always thought I'd live...")
He's clearly gotten past it, but he still seems to look back on it. He's in an apartment now; no families making sure he does everything... Fuck it. I can't explain it.

The Mountain Goats – Southwood Plantation Road Lyrics

A comparison using 'like' or 'as' is a simile, not a metaphor. Sorry, but when I see the mistake happen 50 times in the same place I need to speak out...
Great language anyhow. Very image-inducing. |

Robert Wyatt – Alifib Lyrics

The lyrics are pure gibberish. The way Wyatt sings them, however, is clear as a bell. Sometimes making a coherent point comes second to distilling true emotion and passion. |

Faust – Why Don't You Eat Carrots? Lyrics

The drumming in the middle section will absolutely blow your mind. The lyrics don't even matter. It's those chants that count. It's atonal. It's beautiful. It's killer. |

Fela Kuti – Lady Lyrics
|
Such an addictive rhythm to this song...
As for the meaning, it's quite obvious that it's spitting on women quite a bit. Some seem to think it's that he's against women being liberated, which I suppose you could find evidence for. I prefer to think of it as him spitting on the whole concept of women's liberation; think about it. It's not equality that he thinks she wants. He thinks she wants to eat, sit down, get respect before everybody else. More than anything, Fela seems to simply be against allowing women to become more dominant than him. it's not against equality; in fact, it's against the opposite inequality that we have now. What happens when women's rights go too far?
"Lady" happens. And it's a fucking GROOVE. SHE GO SAYYYY I BE LADY OHHH... He could be singing about decapitating his mother with a hacksaw and I'd be jamming to it in the dark with a strobe light. |

Galaxie 500 – Tell Me Lyrics

This band is so good, and it's really hard to figure out why. Simple chord progressions, iffy vocals. But when it's all together... Amazingly motivating, powerful, warm music is created. |

Slint – Breadcrumb Trail Lyrics
|
To me, if the song had a meaning (which I doubt it is meant to, it just meant to sustain the atmosphere in my opinion), the meaning revolves around seeing the true beauty in life. The narrator goes to a tent that is basically desserted, and finds love inside. Then, he criticizes the others saying "I couldn't figure out why they would want to wait in line. He has found love outside of the mainstream; Whereas all of the other people continue to stand lined up waiting, he is elsewhere.
This only applies to a portion of the song, I know. But that's always been the meaning in my heart. |

Beautiful music, love that chorus:
And words when you played your guitar.
Line really sticks to me... I love how they make music seem like something that is more than an art. |

Sublime – Lincoln Highway Dub Lyrics

Soooo incredible. The solo is so much better than Santeria, just because it's more behind the music, you actually gotta listen to it. It's an incredibly well-thought out solo too, something I'm surprised Brad could do, but then again his soloing has never ceased to amaze me.
Flawless. It and Santeria can't be compared, both perfect for different ways, even though they share the same structure. |

Such an amazing way to open an album. I'm a pretty bad at interpreting, but it sort of sounds like 2 people leave, and either one betrays the other, or they're face with something and only one survives. |

Dead Kennedys – We've Got A Bigger Problem Now Lyrics

Fucking amazing song. Definetly one of their best songs ever. I love how it completely revamps California Uber Alles, and examines Raegen. The whole jazz longue/hardcore punk contrast is what makes this song so great, and that the HA HA HA! at the end is so much more fucking intense... I want to hit people when I hear this. |

Eric Johnson – Cliffs of Dover Lyrics

A very amazing, feel-good song. Puits a smile on my face everytime. I was so happy to see it in guitar hero in the last tier, as all the other songs are heavy dark songs. Was very smart of them to put in such a breezy easy going instrumental. Love it, don't care if lyrics aren't here.
As for meaning, I think it's obviously supposed to represent the cliffs of dover. I really go on a trip when I hear this whimsical tune. |

Pink Floyd – Waiting for the Worms Lyrics

Best part is the intense "waiting" part.
Gotta hand it to the wall, the story remains pride and true. the drugs pink took turn on him, and he goes through the stages of hitler. this is his downfall stage, which leads to him wondering if hes been guilty all this time... STOP! |

The riff is killer, probably one of the best. |

Fuck... COURTNEY DID NOT KILL COBAIN! You people no diddly shit about Courtney love... She's perfectly stable. THEY WERE IN LOVE! Fuck, you people no diddly shit. She did heroin in the first month of Frances' birthing, but after that, realizing she had a child, she went 100% clean, trying to encourage Kurt to as well. The sad truth, is Kurt got her back on drugs. But that doesn't mean he can't make kickass music. Kurt is minsunderstood. And these people who heard "Smells like Teen Spirit" and fucking love it and think they know every thing about him are morons. Seems like you don't come on these songs to admire them, you just come to say Courtney Love is a whore or Kurt Cobain is crazy... It's basically this complete commericalization of maybe 2 of his songs and the rest were being ignored that made him go insane.
Rest in peace kurt. |

Kurt was not emo. He was just himself. I'd suggest reading his entire biography, or at least the wikipedia of it. A good man, an intelligent one at that. He goes in my RIP books with the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Freddy Mercury and John Bonham. |
