Not sure about the meaning...its pretty open ended. I think that the last verse says a lot about the meaning of the song. About being tricked and taking a risk...and falling on your face. |

This song is so awesome...its one of the reason alice in chains is so great...like no band ever does anything like this song anymore. Even thought Chris Cornell only has a small part in the song its still very awesome...I love this song. |

I heard that this song is actually about Norse mythology and something to do with a viking death raid...but I'm not going to look quite as deep into it as that. I want to focus on three lines..."The snow falls hard and don't you know?" "The Winds of Thor are blowing cold." And also...."The snow drives back the foot thats slow, the dogs of doom are howling more." These lines pretty much sum up the meaning of the song. Its saying we are headed into some pretty bad stuff, are lives are in danger, we're up against insurmountable odds, but we have no choice but to keep going into the storm and try to accomplish what we need to or else there will be even greater consequences. Does anyone agree with this? |

Someone told me that this song was about baby cattle that are kept in a cage and killedl. But i'm not really sure if there is any truth to that or not...bc it never mentions anything about a cow in the song. Does anyone know if this is true or not? |

I think this song-like many tool songs-is very open ended when it comes to the meaning. But I think it could be about not being able to understand each other well enough so the relationship falls apart and you cease to communicate with each other. So you have to "strengthen our communication" to make it work again. |
