In general, I hate PATD. This is awesome. This is beautiful. And everything they should always have been. Instead of faffing about doing godawful covers and bad, overdramatic songs, THIS is the kind of song they should have been writing/singing. They've proved they're capable of being so much more than the nasal-emo rubbish that they're most notable for. |

To the person who said some people aren't real fans of the band - well, to be blunt, SO FUCKING WHAT? Just because you don't own everything the band ever recorded and get all anal and obsessive about them doesn't stop you from loving a beautiful song, doesn't stop it from moving you. I, personally, prefer other bands to Something Corporate, and I wouldn't go out of my way to see them or buy their music. So am I banned from listening to and enjoying Konstantine or Punk Rock Princess? So I only like certain of their songs - does it really matter as long as I care about the ones I do like? And maybe it does remind some people of their relationship, current or past. Just because you are still dating the person doesn't mean that your relationship has been a bed of roses - in fact, this song rather proves the opposite. You evidently haven't been listening. In a word, no. So go whine and nit-pick in a corner kiddo. If being a so-called "real fan" turns you into a complete and utter eejit like you, then ta very much, but I'll pass. - A Rational Human Being P.S. Also, if you're going to call other people retarded, at least prove that you can use a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence and know what the difference is between "your" and "you're". I think it's about whatever you want it to be. For me, it's about just going up there and dancing your socks off (or whatever othere embarrassing thing it is you have to do) and not giving a shit what anyone else thinks about you!!! I realise that it probably has a double meaning relation to "pleasuring oneself" too but that's part of the beauty of the song is that it's not always bluntly clear... music would be boring if everyone said exactly what they meant! So if he had that in mind when he wrote it, then cool, but that's not how I choose to view it... |

I think it all depends on your angle... a lot of songs mean more than one thing, like the artist could be trying to convey one thing, but you're surprised when you hear that because you thought it was about something totally different. A good example of this is "When September Ends" by Green Day - it's about Billie Joe's dad dying, but it's also about the war and how it breaks people lives apart (but this song is infinitely better than that one). Also, I always thought that "Lua" by Bright Eyes was about drug addiction but some people interpret it as about an eating disorder. It all depends on perspective. So I'm not entirely sure what this song's about. It depends what mood i'm in when you play it to me! |
