Tess Wiley – Small Things Define Lyrics 9 years ago
I love this song. I think it's about looking on the bright side of things; in life there are good and bad experiences but it's all about what you make of them, what you learn from them. Difficult situations make you grow and help you appreciate the little details in life.

This song is devastating, it gets you into the whole atmosphere of how it feels to be cheated on and betrayed.

Lily Allen – Chinese Lyrics 14 years ago
I am chilean and my first languaje is spanish, but I inmediatly thought that "a chinese" probably meant getting take-out food. I also imagined this song was about her mum, because she's usually very explicit when singing about a romantic relationship. Anyway, it's a really nice song with a nostalgic yet conforting feeling to it, like you know everything's gonna be better when your mum brings you food and tells you what you need to hear =)

Aimee Mann – Choice In The Matter Lyrics 14 years ago
I think it is about a girl suspecting that her boyfriend is cheating on her.

"As much as I would like to stay
The message light just blinks away
And while I'm here you won't push play"

I think that could be a reference to him acting sneaky, not listening to his messages when she's around and stuff like that.

I also get it from the "ignorance without the bliss" part... she's saying that she doesn't know for sure, but that's eating her up inside, so he leaves her no choice in the matter but to end it all.

Finally, she seems very angry in the "I hope you drown and never come up" part, like she really doesn't want him to be a part of her life ever again.

Well, that's my take.

Anathema – Better Off Dead Lyrics 15 years ago
I agree with stealtheharmony, the person in the song is talking to someone who is never satisfied, and so this fisrt person gets tired of this. It coul also be taken literally from God's pint of view, but I don't think he's apologizing, he's tired of us not appreciating what we have

Opeth – Closure Lyrics 15 years ago
I think something has come or is coming to an end and he's trying to come to terms with it, to accept it and get his closure but then when he says "there's nothing painful in this" I get the feeling that he's lying to himself, and finally he admits that he doesn't want this to end, he still has hope and he is feeling miserable. "As I've come clean I've forgotten what I promised" refers to how he promised himself he would close this chapter, but now he gets that he is still clinging to this something (may be a relationship, or to his own life).

Opeth – Deliverance Lyrics 15 years ago
It may be inspired by some movie but to me it's about a serial killer, a lot like "Dexter". The line "when driven into sin your salvation's found in a sinner's deed" it makes me think about him, and how he finds justification in killing someone only if that person has "comitted a sin".

Opeth – Isolation Years Lyrics 15 years ago
I do think it's some kind of suicide letter, not necessarily meaning that she's going to kill herself, but she does have the certainty that she can't live without her love and because of that her life is draining from her. That's the image I get from "The wound in me is pouring out to rest on a lover's shore". I think she has decided that she doesn't want to keep living without him, and that's what happens in the end.

Cake – Italian Leather Sofa Lyrics 16 years ago
I totally agree with ZIMsonic. I always thought about that poem when I listened to this song, I was surprised no one had brought it up before.
And I find jacomar's explanation of the serrated edge part to be really interesting, I think it would fit the song; she doesn't care about this guy, she just wants what she can get from him, he could die for all she cares.

Sonata Arctica – My Selene Lyrics 19 years ago
Selene was the greek goddess of the Moon...
"According to the myth, Selene gazed upon Endymion and fell madly in love with him. She was inmortal, but he was not... so the goddess of the Moon cast a spell on her lover, making him sleep forever. In this state of eternal slumber, Endymion kept both his youth and his good looks."
