Thompson Twins – Lies Lyrics | 10 years ago |
What's happening to this website? These aren't the same lyrics that used to be here. And they're all wrong! This is a completely different song than the one recorded by the Thompson twins. |
Lady GaGa – Applause Lyrics | 10 years ago |
xA, I voted your comment down by mistake (and now I can't change it). Your answer is absolutely correct! |
Cyndi Lauper – That's What I Think Lyrics | 11 years ago |
One of my favorite Cyndi songs. A wistful look at the state of the world, and the importance of having love in our lives. |
Tom Tom Club – Suboceana Lyrics | 12 years ago |
THESE are the lyrics I posted: Let's go suboceana To the place where fish sleep Down, deep, down under And rock with the dream king He says "Trust me, just trust me I live in your mind I'll be your dream master" All of us know this We're going inside This is your life after Boom boom chi boom boom Boom boom chi boom boom Boom boom chi boom boom Boom boom chi boom boom Put your face in my hands now As the water washes us down The pressure of your body solid Making love without a sound We see white sheets of light that prickle the skin Colors extend moving out from within If this is creation let's do it again Let's stay down under Way, way, way down deep Boom boom chi boom boom Boom boom chi boom boom Boom boom chi boom boom Boom boom chi boom boom Generations in a picture Lay their heads down to sleep Forgetting sin to remember Way, way, way down deep They say we are your future from out of your past We'll be here tomorrow Pick up the pieces as fragile as glass We will heal your sorrow Babies are born They accept the bizarre Moving beyond beyond life in a jar Let's stay down under Way, way, way down deep. |
Men Without Hats – Antarctica Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I don't think the lyrics really "mean" anything, just some interesting imagery that seems a bit dark, foreboding & uneasy. Yes, one of their better songs. |
Lady GaGa – Marry the Night Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Much better! Thanks, hundredskies, for the update. Saw LG on TV last night saying this song is an ode to New York nightlife. Awesome song! One of the best on the album I think. |
Book of Love – I Touch Roses Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I'm torn between two interpretations of this song. On one hand, it may just be nonsensical, and not mean anything. Hence the line, "I think you think too much". It's got a good beat (and a great memorable melody) and you can dance to it. On the other hand, it could be sexual. "Roses" could be a metaphor for the singer's "private parts", and he/she is saying, basically, "Hands off. Only I can touch there." Yeah, that's probably it. Either way, an awesome song from a great 80s band. |
Lady GaGa – Marry the Night Lyrics | 13 years ago |
hundredskies, did you fall asleep at the keyboard? Not even close! You really need to update your "attempt" at these lyrics... |
The Residents – Kaw-Liga Lyrics | 13 years ago |
It's a very sad song, really. I can sum it up in 2 words: lost opportunity. |
The Beloved – Sweet Harmony Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Of course this song is about ecology and taking care of the planet. The lyrics ask people to look at the big picture, and "come together" and work together in "sweet harmony". Good subject, beautiful song. |
The Chordettes – Never On Sunday Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Too much of a good thing can be bad, especially if you are at all religious. ;-) |
The Beatles – Golden Slumbers Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Smiles "awake" you? How can I smile awake you? I always thought it was "Smiles AWAIT you when you rise" or, in other words, there will be things to smile about tomorrow. |
Amanda Ghost – Idol Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Such a great dance record...but the words make me cry. I always thought it was about being lonely...not being able to find somebody who could "never let me down". |
Bill Haley – Rock Around the Clock Lyrics | 18 years ago |
OMG! All of the user comments so far refer to the same reason that I visited this page: 'clock' rhymes with 'cock'. That is sooooo funny! It's good to know I'm not the only one on the planet who has these kind of thoughts. All these years I was worried I was a pervert, but it turns out I'm pretty 'normal' after all. |
Tom Tom Club – Wordy Rappinghood Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Is this song just a catchy-but-silly throwaway? Or does it, perhaps, describe the Human condition down to its very core? Words are like a certain person Who can't say what they mean Don't mean what they say My vote is for the core thing. Nothing less than transcendental! |
Thompson Twins – Lies Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Not really sure, but I think this song is about people telling lies. Sorry, I couldn't resist being so flip. C'mon, it's pop music! Seriously though, never really gave the words much thought because the song always made me want to dance. But then, over the past year or so, I came to the realization that my "best friend" was, in fact, a lying snake-in-the-grass. And one night I put this record on (yes, the vinyl 12-inch!) and all of a sudden these lyrics took on real meaning... Your best friend tells you he loves you, then you catch him telling a string of lies. What the heck is that about? "You told me you loved me, so I don't understand..." |
KoЯn – Twisted Transistor Lyrics | 18 years ago |
In the very first comment about this song, N0 C0DE 79 is pissed off about the lyrics and suggests what would have "made the song better". But he apparently didn't think it through because the word he wants to change is the repeating rhyme in the entire song! "Music do" rhymes with "Hey you", "coming through", "understands you", "fuck you too", and on & on. Maybe he should (and this rhymes!) THINK IT THROUGH, and GET A CLUE. It's called poetic license, dude. That's why the music do. |
Lene Lovich – New Toy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
As soon as you discover who penned this tune, you go, "Oh, yeah. Of course!" Well. at least that's what I did. The melody, the lyrics, the humor. They all scream Thomas Dolby. How cool that he & Lene Lovich were buds back when New Wave was still sort of new! |
Nina Hagen – Get your body (with adamski) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Another fab song I don't know the meaning of. But again I say who cares? Nina Hagen is such a unique talent, she could sing anything and make it sound so cool. And of course she's got humor, too. Like when she croons: I'd like to see you in the sewers of my mind... then follows it up with: Dadadadbida (which seems like the aural equivalent of the stand-up comic who bangs a drum after delivering each punch line). I love this track even more today than I did when it was first released back in...is it really 1992? |
Blondie – X Offender Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The FIRST song on the FIRST album by Blondie. Just awesome. So Blondie! Supposedly it was originally called "Sex Offender", but Chrysalis wouldn't let 'em use that title (how shocking!). |
Blondie – Cautious Lip Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Not sure what it all means, but the mental images it creates are sure cool. Blondie rules 4ever! P.S.—Can someone fix the title? It's "Cautious Lip" singular, not "Cautious Lips" plural... |
KoЯn – Twisted Transistor Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I haven't a clue what these lyrics mean, but THIS SONG ROCKS! At least the "Elektro-tek Klub Mix" I found on the 'net (check it out). To be honest, though, this is the only Korn song I know. C-O-O-L! |
David Byrne – Dance On Vaseline Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Does anyone know what this is about? Please explain to us all. |
Lene Lovich – Lucky Number Lyrics | 19 years ago |
After your 1st love, you realize that life is infinitely better when you're sharing it with someone you love, and who loves you in return. Not a groundbreaking idea for a pop song, but Lene Lovich's one-of-a-kind delivery is not to be missed, and the tune itself is very catchy. Contagious even! |
X-Press 2 – LAZY Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It means that EVERYBODY is more lazy than they ought to be. And I fell in love with this song the first time I ever heard it (about half way through!). |
Led Zeppelin – D'yer Mak'er Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Didn't realize I was still such a Zeppelin fan till I read a few posts saying they didn't like this song. Made me think wow!, I can't think of one single Zeppelin song that I don't like. Every one is pretty damn great in a different way. A big part of this song's appeal is just the fact that it's so COMPLETELY unlike ANY of their other songs. No Viking imagery or stories of black magic here. The twisted title and Plant's excessive oh-oh-oh-ing are completely over the top. Who could've guessed these 4 blokes had such a bloody great sense of humor? LED ZEPPELIN WILL NEVER DIE! (And this is from someone who listens to DISCO now.) |
