Barenaked Ladies – Take It Back Lyrics 17 years ago
I'd disagree to the idea of the "save me" line being about thoughts and ideas of the terrorists, just because of the rest of the chorus. I almost think this song is an attempt at reconciliation - a blanket statement saying "We're not sure what we did wrong, but we don't want to fight about it". In which case, the "Deliver me from my friends" becomes a request to be un-associated with the warmongering western powers.

Just my view though. :)

Barenaked Ladies – Maybe Not Lyrics 17 years ago
Frankly, I'm unsure of quite a lot of this - if anyone has an interpretation that makes more sense, please put it down.

Barenaked Ladies – Take It Back Lyrics 17 years ago
Probably my favourite song from 'Are Me'. Such a great message, with some great riffs and musical maneuvers.

Barenaked Ladies – Bull In A China Shop Lyrics 17 years ago
Such a good song. Only problem with this is that it's "I'm afraid I might SELL me something"

Barenaked Ladies – Everything Had Changed Lyrics 17 years ago
Such an amazing song. Musically it's the most impressive on Barenaked Ladies Are Me - it's just a complete change from lots of what they do. Fantastic to listen to.

Barenaked Ladies – Easy Lyrics 17 years ago
Gah, you're right. I was wondering why that line didn't seem to fit properly, but that makes far more sense. Thanks! :D

Steely Dan – Kings Lyrics 18 years ago
How can there only be two comments for this song? I think this is one of the most musically satisfying songs on Can't Buy A Thrill - admittedly, less out-there than most of the Dan songs, but still a fantastic musical effort.

Steely Dan – Bad Sneakers Lyrics 18 years ago
Agreed. I do like this, although sometimes I feel like the best part is the chorus, as the rest sometimes sounds quite odd...

I think you meant arachnophobe - an arachophile is someone who loves spiders.

Toto – I'll Be Over You Lyrics 18 years ago
I can't help but think that this song sounds a lot like a boyband's song. I still love the band, but this song always sounds a little odd to me.

Barenaked Ladies – I Know Lyrics 18 years ago
Sanjuro, I think it's a bit of a mocking look at religion, as its implying that, given enough monkies, one of them would say what preachers say.

Barenaked Ladies – Take It Outside Lyrics 18 years ago
How can this have only one comment? This song is really heartfelt - it's about a guy who isn't prepared to fight for things, he'd rather take it and not make a scene. He lets the word roll over him without a word.

Eels – Wooden Nickels Lyrics 18 years ago
I want to add to the other ideas by saying that the lines 'Dont' take any wooden nickels when you sell your soul' could appear to be mean and vindictive, but are actually really sweet, as he wants her to get the full value, should she sell her soul.

Barenaked Ladies – For You Lyrics 19 years ago
If there was one song I thought applied most to me, it'd be this one. I'm constrained by my own morals and self-doubt, and I think that this song applies so strongly to that.

Robert Palmer – Addicted To Love Lyrics 19 years ago
This song reminds me of my girlfriend - up until the 8th month I knew her she was obsessed with another guy, so I told her that if the title was 'Addicted to Loving Nick' it'd be about her.

Derek and the Dominos – Layla Lyrics 19 years ago
You need to take into account that the Eric Clapton song is THE SAME SONG. Eric was the lead of Derek and the Dominos - in fact, they got that name because a radio presenter mispronounced 'Eric and the Dynamos'. They decided they liked the new name better.

Bowling for Soup – Belgium Lyrics 19 years ago
This song, to the best of my knowledge, was originally written by the lead singer of a little known canadian band called 'Second Nature'. He submitted the words and the guitar chords he used to BFS, and they took it from there. It was about a girl he met once, and lives in England. Why it ended up being called Belgium, I have no idea...

Elvis Costello – Man Out of Time Lyrics 19 years ago
How can people have not commented on this? I find that this song is so powerful, and is easily one of my favourite Costello songs. It's so relevant to me...
