Gypsy and the Cat – Jona Vark Lyrics | 12 years ago |
To me, this song is about enlightenment. "She walks down the street Alone in the dark Her head's held up high And shes got nothing fear" This part points to the fact that she is free of the fear of death I think it really would be "flower" rather than "further" because when we are present with nature, it brings about a sense of connectedness with it.. all of this frees us from what we are not - the mind. The question we all like to ask is "what is the meaning of my life".. with enlighentment we are able to see that there is no answer and there is no need to ask the question in the first place. We dont need to conceptualise everything! |
John Mayer – No Such Thing Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Wow, you said exactly what i would have said.. I couldn't have said it better =] Whenever i hear someone reference the 'real world', i tend to get annoyed. The world is what it is, it includes people who live in extreme poverty, and people who inherit millions and never work a day in their lives - it's all real, and the people who delude themselves into thinking that their way of life (an arbitrary place between the most difficult life and the easiest life) is the 'real world' are the ones who are distancing themselves from reality more than anyone else. |
Brooke Fraser – Something in the Water Lyrics | 13 years ago |
This song is about how she feels when she puts roofies in someones water... I saw the video clip for this song... it looks like she only washes her hair annually instead of every couple of days :| |
Alanis Morissette – Thank U Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I made my original post back in 2005! and i only read the power of now about a year ago. I dont know what made me look this song up but im glad its meaning isnt lost on everyone =] THankyou mermade27 |
Kevin Rudolf – I Made It (Cash Money Heroes) [feat. Birdman, Jay Sean, & Lil Wayne] Lyrics | 14 years ago |
this song sends a really negative message, and a lot of people dont realise it. Its basically saying that you need to become wealthy in order to be happy, and if you arent wealthy, you cant be equally (or more) happy as someone who is. Trust me.. if you become really wealthy in your life, it just becomes the norm. If you are lucky enough to recieve the wealth suddenly, then you will definitely feel happier at first, but after a little while, your insecurities will set in, you will begin to want more, and you'll be unhappy again. I feel sorry for anyone who lives such a shallow existence of identifying themselves with their job, or how much money they have, or their appearance etc... you are setting yourself up for a fall (a fall that you really need) You already are everything you need to be, you dont need to compensate for the part of you that says you arent good enough, everyone is equal... from the homeless person on the street to the wealthiest CEO Of course, as i expected of someone who would write a song like this... kevin rudolph has admitted to feeling insecure about not producing any more hits, losing his fame and wealth... hardly the words of someone who has supposedly "made it" LMAO Stop writing garbage lyrics like this! |
Vanessa Amorosi – This Is Who I Am Lyrics | 14 years ago |
You have the lyrics wrong. but your mistakes are funny... its not "i spent years really hating men" its "hating ME" Great song though, great lyrics, original/quality production and a little bit quirky overall. The meaning is the most obvious thing of all.. being yourself, not caring about what other people think. Something thats not always easy to do. Often people say they dont care when they actually do, the irony is that feeling the need to tell everyone that you dont care what they think is often (not always) because you hope they will judge you less once they know you no longer care, suggesting that their judgement does have some affect. I want to see her do a face plant on the ground with her hands on her hips. She should have done that in the video lol |
T.I. – Live Your Life Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I've tried to like this song, its just that it annoys me because it contradicts itself. I really hate the part where it says 'you steady chasing that paper' as a reference to money. This goes competely against the part where it says you should be thankful for what you do have. If you want to be happy you really just need to change your outlook on life, not what is outside of you. This song is essentally terrible advice! |
Jesse McCartney – Relapse Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Love this song. I actually think its my favourite off his album but i must be unsual because nobody else has commented! Its about how a guy can't get over a girl even though he wants to because he knows shes 'not the one for him' meaning she will likely just hurt him. Love isn't logical. Its really well produced and sounds unlike anything ive heard before. |
Fergie – Labels or Love Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I thought she was saying "shopping for lightbulbs, shopping for love" and was like wtf? WHY IS SHE SINGING ABOUT BUYING LIGHTBULBS! I thought lightbulbs were meant to represent inspiration/ideas. I was way off. Meaning? Consumerism, materialism, "retail therapy", shallowness, emptiness and a bit of arrogance. Frankly i think i liked it better when i thought it was about lightbulbs :) |
Madonna – 4 Minutes Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Oops, i didnt read funkless' comment. As you can see im in complete agreement with you. |
Madonna – 4 Minutes Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think its about the law of attraction. "If you want it You already got it If you thought it It better be what you want" That basically sums up the law of attraction (theory that our thoughts can manifest themselves) |
Metro Station – Shake It Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song would be hott... its such a shame the guy who sings it is as ugly as sin. :( |
Chris Brown – Forever Lyrics | 15 years ago |
rousson69er i dont think that at all!! Its just another love song. its cliche', but it does sound really good IMO Most songs could be interpreted as being about drugs (or just about anything for that matter) Even though the intention of the writer was for something completely different. Just something i didnt like about the video - his checkered pants were big at the top so they made him look like he had really fat thighs. His jacket also made him look hunched over even though he actually wasn't.... Just putting it out there! |
The Ting Tings – Great DJ Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The video clip is even better than the song itself. The way they dance is so cool (like they dont want to dance, but they do anyway. Its so original) |
Vanessa Amorosi – Perfect Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Lyrics are a bit off... Obviously about being in love with someone, putting them on a pedestal, thinking that they're perfect, and not wanting them to change. |
Delta Goodrem – Believe Again Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Great song. Delta Goodrem has credibility; -She writes her own songs -She can actually sing -She's confident while being down to earth -She's really pretty lol |
Kat Deluna – Whine Up Lyrics | 16 years ago |
^ why would people want to listen to this in spanish? it would have the same meaning (which is oh so deep btw lol ) i dont like how elephant man says "Ladies lookin' hot" - sounds SO sleasy and corny |
Flo Rida – Low Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song is really gross. The bit at the beginning where they sing "mh h h h h let me to talk to ya let me to talk to ya" Sounds so unbeliveably bad, like a 5 yr old kid trying to sound like a really good singer. Blah. Also im imagining a fat chick wearing really shit clothes (boots with fur?) slapping her fat ass. Its sad. Really sad |
Spice Girls – Stop Lyrics | 16 years ago |
jacobalynn pls tell me you aren't being serious. Oh my goodness lol |
Jewel – Hands Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Poverty stole your golden shoes But it didn't steal your laughter I like that verse... mainly because golden shoes are ridiculous... something you wouldnt need anyway. It means you can be happy without being wealthy. |
Fergie – Glamorous Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song already feels nostalgic to me and its only about a year old |
Britney Spears – Lucky Lyrics | 16 years ago |
OK! im sick of people who think they're so smart simply because they can criticise another pop song. Firstly all of you who have criticised this song have NO IDEA what the meaning of it is. Basically the theme of this song is Pretentiousness. It is a serious issue within much of society, particularly for those who largely constituted britneys fanbase, ie; 16 yo girls. Although having this problem isn't usually all that traumatic, i find it ironic that its britney herself who helped to create these impossible standards. Maybe its good that shes hit rock bottom this year, |
Groove Armada – Song 4 Mutya (Out Of Control) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Its a song about a girl who has broken up with a guy and she sees him with someone else, She describes how she feels - "replaced". Maybe she regrets the breakup if she left him or if he left her she is probably angry/jealous. I think the singer sounds like one of the sugababes. I thought it was one of their songs when i first heard it. |
JoJo – A Little Too Late Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Haha, im a fag and i like it |
Akon – Smack That (feat. Eminem) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i like this song, and i would like it more if eminem wasnt in it, rap is really pathetic, all it is, is words with no melody, spoken over instrumentals (which have to be really good to make it sound okay) Luckily only part of this song is rap This is what is involved with making a rap song. 1) write some lyrics on some paper (usually either materialistis, objectifying women or self pitying) 2)dont worry about how the words sound, get someone else to do the instrumentals (in most cases) to make up for the lameness that typifies rap |
Madonna – Jump Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I like this so much too. The music video is cool and i think madonna actually looks better than she did in any of the other COADF ones. I didnt like her hair that way when i saw a pic of it, but when i saw it in the context of the video clip.. i liked it. Lol, my music tastes are queerer than my little sisters. |
Stephanie Mcintosh – Mistake Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I actually like her... theres something likeable about her, she seems like she would be really easy to get along with and stuff. Shes also mildly attractive petetheelite mind your spelling... and maybe if youre going to be critical, you could think of something a bit more intelligent than what you said. Im also sick of how people all of a sudden believe that theyre so good at judging peoples singing abilities, they watch shows like idol (even if theyve only watched it once) and think 'oh i know how to tell when someone is techically singing well' GET OVER YOURSELF! Music is increasingly becoming more about image and you are just going to have to accept it. |
Keane – Is It Any Wonder? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i like this song, but im not a fan of the music video, The idea of having the camera on some sort of track was good, but i think that it could have been done alot better, like how he kept sticking his head in front of the camer just got repetitive and annoying, if they had the camera going to all different places, like outside and stuff, it would be heaps better |
The Black Eyed Peas – Don't Lie Lyrics | 18 years ago |
why does this only have 10 comments and 'my humps' have so many???! This is such a better song.... My humps sounds terrible. |
Backstreet Boys – Just Want You to Know Lyrics | 18 years ago |
noxas... the video was meant to be satirical, and i think they are able to get over the 80's!, seeing as most of them were just little kids back then... They started in like 98 with pop music, not 88 with rock (the theme of the video) |
Hilary Duff – Our Lips Are Sealed (The Go-Gos cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"I Love Cecile".... thats absolutely hilarious.. |
Madonna – Ray of Light Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Simply put; This is possibly the best song EVER. It came out when i was in year 6, It really lets me reflect on when i was young, when i was learning so much about myself and the world.. so much still seemed to have a certan mysteriousness about it, but i also understood a lot, and appreciated what life was like for me at the time. I really do think that 98 was the best part of my life, possibly because, in many ways, it was the last of my childhood, and i began to take so much more of an interest in things like music, i grew so much in that one year and it was really exciting. I would really like to know what all these double entendres mean. Madonna is an icon, and this song is up there with 'like a prayer' |
The Black Eyed Peas – Don't Lie Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Even though i liked how this song sounded and the video clip for it, i never really liked the meaning, like saying 'dont lie' over and over again is a bit lame. A while ago i saw in an interview, Fergie said that "Dont lie" was based on a song that she had written years before, which was about how she used to lead and "unhealthy lifestyle" (im assuming this was drug addiction) and how she lied to herself about it, telling herself that it wasnt such a problem etc.. Then she went on to say that, with the black eyed peas, they remade the song, but gave it a different meaning (about infidelity). I really dont think they should have changed the meaning because so many songs are about cheating and it gets to the point where it just seems shallow and cliche' Most of their popular songs seem to be shallow.. lets get it started/retarted or hey mamma (with the exception of "Where is the love") Although i must say that most of them sound really good. I never thought i would care so much about song meanings, when i was younger all i cared was if songs sounded good. |
Anastacia – Sick And Tired Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I am so rating this song! its so catchy and so many people liked it when it was out |
Shapeshifters – Lola's Theme Lyrics | 19 years ago |
So good, esp like the video clip for it. Didnt know that it said "im a different person yeah" i had no idea what that part was. |
Alcazar – This Is The World We Live In Lyrics | 19 years ago |
crazyness that nobody else has commented. I like this song, its positive, although it is a little bubblegum - who cares, it might not be really deep, but that not always nessesary for a song |
TLC – No Scrubs Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i wouldnt want any of the members of TLC Anyway. Doesnt anyone think this song is a bit conceited? They probably made it up for themselves because they've been rejected by guy's that are too good for them. ie. chicks with dicks. |
Alanis Morissette – Thank U Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think that "how bout them transprent dangling carrots" is meant to mean that people are constantly trying to fullfill themselves, by trying to achieve more, but their happyness is always just out of reach because they dont live for the moment. Its simmilar to what raysug/q said, but i see it as being an observation of much of the worlds consumerist society - many of us do live in a fools paradise. |
Eskimo Joe – Older Than You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Such a good song, its a bit short tho. I like how the guitar sounds when its playing seperately. I cant believe that i am the first to comment on this. I think the video clip is really appropriate coz it moves through time really fast, it reminds us of how life is short. Probs my favourite song at the moment, even though i have heard it a long time ago, ive been listening to it alot more lately. |
Boogie Pimps – Somebody To Love Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Doesnt have that much meaning to it, its more of a fun song. Sounds so good, some of the beats seem to be played in reverse. |
Mylo – In My Arms Lyrics | 19 years ago |
A bit repetitive, but more original than the other versions of falling star because it uses the betty davis eyes tune as well. The other bands that adapted this song are sunset strippers and cabin crew. |
Sunset Strippers – Falling stars Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is such a good song. There are two other versions but two different bands - Cabin Crew, theirs is called star2fall. The other is by Mylo, but their one has the 'betty davis eyes' tune playing in the background, its more original, suprisingly the vocals "in my arms baby yeah." go really well with the 'betty davis eyes' playing over and over again. Cabin crew is an australin band, and im pretty sure Mylo is too (they're the ones with 'drop the pressure', i love that song too.) |
