Foo Fighters – Back & Forth Lyrics 10 years ago
Why are all the reviews destroying this song? I love it!

The chorus is SO F*CKING CATCHY!!!

The new album is truly exceptional.

Sebadoh – Open Ended Lyrics 10 years ago
I can't believe how underrated this song is. Awesome melodies throughout and the meaning is quite obviously about a relationship. Great song to listen to while walking around outside.

The Birthday Massacre – Pins And Needles Lyrics 10 years ago
This song kicks ASS. By far the best song on the new album. Beautiful vocals in this.

Rogue Wave – Bird on a Wire Lyrics 11 years ago
This is a great song. The chorus is pretty uptempo and catchy, but check out the bass in the intro and verses. Excellent album starter.

The Gathering – The West Pole Lyrics 11 years ago
This song could either be about a break up or a death. Regardless, it has some dark and depressing guitar in the intro and throughout. They really shifted to a more trip-hop/dreamy sound for this new album and this song is no exception.

One of the best on the album.

Third Eye Blind – Can You Take Me Lyrics 11 years ago
This song is clearly one of the best on Ursa Major. Really pumping guitar riff and drumming in the beginning and choruses. It's just a really fun song and a great opener for the album.

It's a song about wanting to do something exciting and great, but wanting someone to bring you there. He wants someone to take him away. There's also some loose sexual undertones in this ("Now these days I wonder why we're holding back on bliss. You blast from me everything you see, I just want to give you a kiss.") He basically wants "it" whatever that is, but something exciting. Jenkins has always been a little peculiar in this area, lol, but you can get the jist of it.

The chorus is a little out of place with the let's start a riot, but again it's about wanting to share something exciting with someone. He wants gold, he wants fun, and he's ready.

Nonetheless, it's a great song.

Camper Van Beethoven – Borderline Lyrics 11 years ago
This is a great song, probably my favorite from them. Though their lyrics can be a bit cyptic, I think this song is clearly about a relationship that is shallow and not long-lasting. Look at the line "On the borderline everything is empty, even you and I. Cause we're moving from east to west, across the grey. It's meaningless." He's saying that they are just gliding along and it is meaningless and direction-less.

This has a great rolling rhythm to it and has some really catchy parts. Excellent song with distantly sad undertones.

Where does the "cause she'll figure me out" part come in then?

Oasis – I Wanna Live In A Dream (In My Record Machine) Lyrics 13 years ago
This songs beats the shit out of all the Noel songs on their last two albums. It's got a huge, huge sound. I've only heard the demo of this- the one that's floating around out there and got leaked- but this is truly a great song. Seems to be about fame and fans/critics counting them out. Loved it as soon as I heard it. I think it's better than Stop the Clocks!

submissions
The Veils – A Birthday Present Lyrics 13 years ago
Way cool feeling in this song. It's laid back yet tense and a little bit depressing tinged. I think this song is about how everyone's so paranoid now with the war going on, the bad economy, gas prices, etc, and just to calm down about it. Gets catchier the more you listen to it. CRIMINALLY underrated band. It's a shame.

Ride – Chrome Waves Lyrics 13 years ago
What a great song. So beachy. Lyrics are junk, but the harmonies are so catchy and summery.

Piano Magic – I Am the Sub-Librarian Lyrics 13 years ago
Friggin' great song! This girl has a wonderful voice, just the way she sings "a steady diet of Brautigan"- it's heavenly. This song seems to be about someone who's pushed down and cannot see happiness in life. However, there are so many references to places that it makes it a bit confusing to find the meaning. One of their catchiest songs upon first listen! :)

submissions
Piano Magic – Snow Drums Lyrics 13 years ago
One of the real, truely scariest songs I have ever heard. This is a chilling tale of a winter drive home from a band rehearsal and this girl misses someone she loves so, so much. Maybe that someone has recently passed away? Just a terrific, fantastic song. It's so, so real you feel like you're the one driving home in the snow. Wonderful.

Ocean Colour Scene – Up On The Downside Lyrics 13 years ago
What an amazing guitar riff in this song- so bluesy and so rock 'n roll. This song cannot help but make you smile, it's just got that vibe. This song's about going through life, taking chances, but also learning what's wrong and what's right and moving ahead with the new knowledge. It's also about having fun (as most of their songs are). This one and "Mechanical Wonder" will be my songs of this coming spring no doubt! :)

Ocean Colour Scene – Mechanical Wonder Lyrics 13 years ago
What a remarkable song. This has spring written all over it. To me this song is about having fun even in the midst of all the new technology coming out these days. It's seeing through all of that and just having plain, old fun with friends and having talks of a lifetime. Gorgeously song melodies in this. Will become one of my faves this spring! :)

Radiohead – House of Cards Lyrics 13 years ago
One of my favorites on the album. Wonderful guitar in the beginning and throughout. The lyrics can't simply be about a relationship, but the line "I don't want to be your friend, I just want to be your lover" reminds me of someone who has a one night stand. They don't want the ups and downs and responsibilities of a relationship, they just want the sex part.

Wonderful song, brilliant.

Folk Implosion – My Ritual Lyrics 14 years ago
What a great, great song! It has this cold, winter feel but the vocal approach is very much summery, which creates a neat listening landscape. The tingly guitar line is really neat and makes you think. This song is about appreciating everyday, yet wondering whether or not if you'll reach your full potential in life by utilizing a relaxed attitude. One of the best on this album and great opener.

The Verve – No Knock On My Door Lyrics 14 years ago
The first misstep on A Northern Soul, but its got a great, great guitar line running throughout. It's a great way to follow up the thoughtful and serene 'History' that comes before it. It wanders a bit in the end, but never gets too boring. Definitely about a love of your life leaving you, hence 'No Knock on My Door'.

submissions
The Verve – History Lyrics 14 years ago
One of the most sincere and honest songs I've ever heard, this is one of the centerpieces of the album A Northern Soul. Listen to this song while lying down with headphones on and it will take you away. The strings in the beginning and the end make you shiver and the overall feel of the song is so thought provoking. This song is about someone who feels as though they are hindering a relationship and wants to end it to stop the bleeding. This could be a father-son relationship, friends, or a significant other, but the song does not have a depressed feel and is quite and uplifting experience.

submissions
The Verve – Drive You Home Lyrics 14 years ago
Really calming song and the slowest, least hazy song on A Northern Soul. This song to me is about driving someone home after a party who got drunk or high. It makes me think of a situation where you have to drive that person's car for him and drop him off back at their house really late at night. Check out the really neat guitar licks in the bridge, one of them has a great hook in it. Great song!

The Verve – A Northern Soul Lyrics 14 years ago
Apparently written for Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher, this is the totally coolest song on the album. The guitar screetching and bass in this song are absolutely killer and gets your foot tapping. This might be about the mean streets of Manchester where the Gallaghers grew up on, but it takes on a more generic meaning as someone who is just enjoying life day by day. Very uplifting and fun song!

The Verve – A New Decade Lyrics 14 years ago
A wonderful way to start off the album because it's not drawn out or wandering. The dizzying guitar on the verses is great and the beginning buildup is an awesome way to usher in the album. Sounds like a story of how someone has moved on in their lives, literally, and isn't in the place where they grew up in ('in a town I wasn't born in') and clearly misses the way it used to be. They are searching for some new inspiration and something to spark their lives, but not necissarily a significant other.

The Verve – So It Goes Lyrics 14 years ago
Great, great song and one of my favorites on A Northern Soul. To me this song is really a look at life from an introspective reflection. It's about someone who wants a change in their lives, but doesn't want to go out and force it. The real curveball in this song comes during the last part about drinking away the memory of his wife; it's a neat part. Awesome song really.

Keane – Is It Any Wonder? Lyrics 14 years ago
This is one of Keane's best upbeat songs and I absolutely love it. To me, this song is about someone (possibly a significant other) who makes you upset inside but you can't bring yourself to show that person how they make you feel. Tom has said that this song is about a government who doesn't listen to its people, which I can see in this song. Very uptempo and the melody on the chorus is amazing. Listen to it.

Keane – Atlantic Lyrics 14 years ago
Scariest song in Keane's catalog and a great way to open 'Under the Iron Sea', this song has a very engaging quality to it. The piano in the beginning is creepy and interesting, but the lyrics in the song tell the tale of a man who doesn't want to be lonely in his life. Great way to start the album off and 'Is It Any Wonder?' is a great offset follow-up to it.

submissions
Keane – Crystal Ball Lyrics 14 years ago
Coldplay and Keane both have very charismatic singers, but Keane are so much more atmospheric and their songs have a more spacey feeling. Keane writes a better love song, too.

submissions
Keane – Broken Toy Lyrics 14 years ago
Worst song on 'Under the Iron Sea' hands down. It sounds a lot like 'Pyramid Song' by Radiohead, but it's not nearly as engaging. It's too long, too.

Keane – We Might As Well Be Strangers Lyrics 14 years ago
This song was the first one that got me into Keane and it's an awesome song! It's so brilliantly sung and the lyrics just hit you really hard. This song reminds me of my twin brother and I growing our personalities apart while during college and now we are very different. We might as well be strangers.

Keane – Hamburg Song Lyrics 14 years ago
This song is about a guy who is too shy to let a girl know his feelings for her, but he wants to try to be more assertive with it, but he's just not that type of person. Awesome, awesome, awesome song.

Keane – A Bad Dream Lyrics 14 years ago
This song is absolutely fuckin amazing, it really is!! Tom sings so beautifully in this song, but the tone doesn't make me feel bad or down- it makes me think. It's a beautiful song and should be released as a single. If not, it's one of the most amazing hidden gems I have ever heard. I can't wait for their next album!

Oasis – Lyla Lyrics 14 years ago
This song is not as bad as people are saying, but it's certainly not one of Oasis' best. The new album is actually pretty good and "A Bell Will Ring", "Keep the Dream Alive", "Let There Be Love", "Turn Up the Sun", and "Love Like a Bomb" are all better than this song.

The Charlatans – The Only One I Know Lyrics 14 years ago
Awesome song. This is on their first album in 1990 called Some Friendly. This is a tremendously catchy song and I love the chorus! The singer sounds a lot like Ian Brown from The Stones Roses, though, and incidently their incredibly influential album was released only a year before The Charlatans' one.

Oasis – Be Here Now Lyrics 14 years ago
This song is fucking awesome and the beat just makes me stomp my foot to it. This song is a little on the badass side and is a pleasure to sing along with. The bass in this song is immense and the guitar rock-out in the bridge and the end gives me chills sometimes it's so good. It's one of the shorter ones on Be Here Now and also one of my favorites off of it. They do this song awesome live, too, when they used to play it.

Oasis – All Around The World Lyrics 14 years ago
This might just be the most ridiculously overblown, overproduced, overlong, and overloud song I've ever heard, but you know what? I love it! It's over nine minutes long and despite the overproductiveness, it's totally listenable and singable and meaningful. The overlength and overproduction gives this song (and the other songs on Be Here Now) their unique charm. This song makes one feel alive and well and things are going positively and you don't have to read over the lyrics to start singing along with it by the second chorus. There does seem to be something just not quite right with this song, but the charm is there- the Oasis charm. I dare you to listen to the whole song in one sitting as it's quite and experience. This song is also in AT&T commercials right now.

Oasis – Acquiesce Lyrics 14 years ago
When I first heard this song after reading so much good things about it, I thought it was a little overrated. But, the more I heard it, the more I liked it and now I love it. This is actually a very heavy song for Oasis with the guitar in the verses and beginning. The chorus may seem a little out of place when you first listen to it, but it really is the highlight of the song. I do get a feeling this song is about "brotherly love" and getting along between brothers, but could be applied to other situations too like relationships, etc. This is the perfect way to start The Masterplan and is really a rocking song. It could be a love song, too, but without the emo and without the crap. Great song.

Oasis – A Bell Will Ring Lyrics 14 years ago
One of the better songs on Don't Believe the Truth and one of my favorites off of it, the beginning guitar is surprising and wonderful. This is a great song to listen to when you want to relax and not pay too much attention to the lyrics, but ironically it has some of the best Oasis lyrics I've ever heard- they are just so inspirational and uplifting. I think it's ridiculous when people say that Noel shouldn't let the other band members write lyrics to their songs because this one has some fantastic lines, my favorite being "The world's as wide as your life is thin, so entertain your goals...", which is truly one inspirational line especially the way Liam sings it. This song is about that point in your life when you're sick of the way you are and the way things are and wanting to change, but not being overly forceful about it and just letting life take its course. This song is saying that things will be okay and things won't always be negative if you are patient and gradually let life come to you instead of forcing change upon yourself.

Oasis – (It's Good) To Be Free Lyrics 14 years ago
I love the beginning guitar- it's truly amazing. This isn't one of my favorite Oasis songs, but it fits nicely on The Masterplan. This song is about appreciating the little things in life and finding happiness in everyday things that most people take for granted- the scenery, the people, the landscape- it all means something if you pay attention to it. I love the little Irish jig at the end with the accordion- very nice!

submissions
Oasis – (As Long As They've Got) Cigarettes In Hell Lyrics 14 years ago
This song is one of the most relaxing and hazy songs I've ever heard. It almost puts you to sleep when you listen to it. Noel sings fabulously on this song and this song is basically about not giving a shit what people say or what bad things may happen and just live your life the best you can despite those things. The chorus is almost a metaphor for life in that he's almost expecting the bad things to come along with the good times and to deal with it.

Oasis – (Probably) All In The Mind Lyrics 14 years ago
I love the bassline in this song and the beat of it. This song is about letting someone into your world and sharing your experiences with them, then meshing both together and share those experiences together. Some of these experiences are dreams that can't be reached at the moment, but you keep dreaming and keep living.

submissions
The Charlatans – Try Again Today Lyrics 14 years ago
This song is wonderful. Awesome bass line in the beginning and at various parts in the song. This is a very uplifting song about taking each day at a time, which is exactly how I try to live my life. Awesome, awesome song.

submissions
Silverchair – Luv Your Life Lyrics 14 years ago
Despite the cheesy title, this song has a very mature and jazzy feel. To me, this song has to do with jealousy of someone's life that you adore and wish you had. It may not be every aspect of this person's life you want- maybe just their freedom or how they carry themselves or even material things like their job status, house, cars, or whatever. This is a very uplifting song, though, and it's almost like you want this person's life that you are jealous of, but you admire them for it too and it inspires you to change.

Oasis – D'You Know What I Mean? Lyrics 14 years ago
This song fucking rocks so much and makes me feel bad ass when I sing it as loud as I can with the windows rolled down driving fast on the highway. While I do that I feel like I'm on the top of the world. Be Here Now has A LOT of fucking great songs on it and this one is an absolutely stunning jolt of rock 'n roll.

Radiohead – Bullet Proof...I Wish I Was Lyrics 14 years ago
This is Radiohead's saddest song, by far. The straining in Thom's voice is amazing and the guitars seem to be stretching for strength and barely make up a backbone for the song. The lyrics are definitely centered around depression and sadness and this song really instigates neutral and resigned feelings when I listen to it and I really believe that this is his most personal and heartfelt song in their library. The nice little guitar strum at the end of the bridge and at the end is amazing, but this song is totally one of my favorites on The Bends!

submissions
Radiohead – Sulk Lyrics 14 years ago
I don't understand why this song gets such a bad rap by so many people, as I personally love this song and is one of my favorites on The Bends. The tumbling guitar in the verses is magical and some of the best I've ever heard; it's just so soothing and almost sad. This song, to me, is really about the feeling you get when you feel sad about something and you just want to hide away and be resigned. This song defines resignation and really hits me hard when I feel down about something that has happened or may happen. This is also one of my favorite Radiohead songs overall, and I love singing it on the top of my lungs (especially the final chorus). It's a simple song for Radiohead, but it has enough guitar effects and noises going on to keep my interest throughout the song. Excellent, excellent depression song.

Simple Plan – Crazy Lyrics 15 years ago
I'm telling you this is a great song. I know it's just Simple Plan and I know most people views on them, but when I first heard this song I was blown away. This song still blows me away, I just love it. Listen to the repeating stomping of the bass drum during the last chorus, it rocks! I think the lyrics are a little overdone in places, but the song as a whole is great. The chorus is really really amazing and one of the best I've heard, especially from these guys. I think this song is on the radio right now and it should've been the first single. I think this song, along with Everytime and Untitled, show that the band is progressing and hopefully they'll weed out all the rest of the junk and just make a CD with songs like this one and the others I mentioned. All they really need is lyrical focus and better production and then I'd like them even more than I already do. This is one of my favorite songs ever, definitely on the top 250 list or something.
