oh yeah, this also explains the line " a sin that fed my children and burned my smiles and cigarettes" in blindfolds aside |

Protest the Hero – Nautical Lyrics
|
I believe what the guard means by
"I'm still a cigarette softly smoking on the edge of a metal ashtray
I begged this place to let me burn, and it whispered, "burn away"
is that his life is like a cigarrette, because it doesn't move a long smoothly, it burns to ashes until it goes out. And he's so miserable that all he asks is to be allowed to continue burning, and this prison or government that he works for acts like that's some big priveledge. This is ultimately why he has to kill Keziah, to keep his family fed. |

Protest the Hero – These Colours Don't Run Lyrics
| 17 years ago

During the last chorus, is the backing vocalist (Arif perhaps?) screaming the names of countries the US has bombed/militarily intervened in? That;s what it sounds like, and that would be really cool if it is. Excellent song. |

Mushroomhead – Chancre Sore Lyrics
|
I think violent kiwi was right about the matador part, but I think the "nothing more" part has a bit more meaning. He says "love is war, mothing more". I think this means that these feelings we feel are really nothing but instinct to make us breed in order to keep our species alive, and to make males fight for a female mate, hence the war part. But, hey, if it was written by a seventh grader it could just be a rhyme. |

In Flames – Brush The Dust Away Lyrics
|
Yeah, I get the impression this song is about war and destroying the earth in general for our own amusement or personal gain. So when he says, just aim and end another but think as i rape your mother, it seems like he is trying to piss you off. It's like he's saying, it's easy to solve your problems with violece, but realize that the next guy might do something even worse to you. it's an endless cycle. |

Buckethead – Nottingham Lace Lyrics

why is an instrumental posted on a song meaning/lyric website? most of BH's songs are instruamental, all of those should be up here if your just going to type "instrumental". This is an amazing song, though. The solo gives me goosebumps. |

Bad Religion – Live Again (The Fall of Man) Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
"Live again, live again, would you give it all up to live again?"
I think here he's trying to say that certain religious groups (not limited to JUST christians or JUST muslims) are so focused on making it to an afterlife that may not exist that they give up all they have now and forget to have a life on Earth. Overall, I think the song is about the collapse of religion and the people who refuse to let it go. |

Bad Religion – Prove It Lyrics
|
I think the "there's no such thing as hell, but you can make it if you try" part is referring to the pessimism in religion. People don't have to believe in Hell and Satan and evil, but for some reason they do. |

Bad Religion – The Defense Lyrics

I think this song is basically about how much the world sucks sometimes (aint it beautiful to be alive, yeah right) and how he builds an emotional wall to defend himself from it. |

The Offspring – Jennifer Lost The War Lyrics

I think zps2 is right, because there is also a song by Hole (Courtney Love's band) called "Pieces of Jennifer's body" about an extremely similar incident with a victim of the same name. |

Nirvana – Even in His Youth Lyrics

i thought the chorus went "must've been something to pull you through - must've bit off more than you could chew - there's nothing left for me to do - " then i cant understand the last line. I dunno. maybe im crazy... |

Nirvana – Opinion Lyrics

the second verse kinda sounds like
There seems to be a problem here
obscure emotions seem too clear
They rise and fall like wall street stock
And interupts our happy talk
of our opinions
but thats just what i hear |

Nirvana – Ain't It a Shame (Lead Belly cover) Lyrics

im confused cause leadbelly also sang "they hung him on a cross" which to me doesn't sound near as sarcastic towards religion as this one. Is ladbelly a gospel band or just the opposite? |

Snot – The Box Lyrics

yeah, the "box" reffers to a television set. Like Shadows Fall's song, The Idiot Box. This song is obviously about the negative influence of TV |

System of a Down – B.Y.O.B. Lyrics

dougiecrystals, after reading your comment I feel I have become slightly less inteligent. There is no word in the English language that can possibly begin to describe the magnitude of your ignorance. Blow everything up? Aparently, you have no value for human life. So do us all a favor and take your own.
Just kidding. About the taking your life part, that is. Because I value human life and even a pig-headed idiot such as you deserves to live. |

The Presidents of the United States of America – Candy Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
im pretty sure this song is relating a woman to candy, judging by how he says "you're my candy" and you can't tell me "red rope hair, gumdrop lips, and cotton candy thighs" doesn't insuate anything sexual. I suppose it could also be about drugs, though. Hell, it could simply be about candy! |

Nirvana – Opinion Lyrics

i can't believe no one's noticed that the first verse is wrong! It's:
Congratulations you have won
a year's subscription of bad puns
and a makeshift story of concern
set it off before it burns
i'm not sure about the second verse |

holy crap, nallaka, you say "yeah" a lot! not an insult, just an observation.
Have you ever noticed that when he says, " I walk alone," it sounds like "i wear cologne" |

System of a Down – Roulette Lyrics
|
I think the song is entitled Roulette because
1. he repeats Around you many many times, like a roulette wheel goes around.
2. If you play this song on guitar the chord progression goes higher, then lower, then higher, etc. |

C2B3 – Thai Noodles Lyrics
|
i think this sing is from the perspective of someone who is really jealous of this guy called slick. Maybe the Thai Noodles just have to do with his crazy affixiation with slick, that he knows all about him. And from the last line, it sounds like he leaves this whole message on slick's answering machine, because that's what those noises after "have you met ol slick!?" sound like. So basically, its about a guy who is obsessed with slick. In my opinoin. I could be wrong. |
