Catatonia – Goldfish And Paracetamol Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"A dead loss, no songs No fun, just glum Lying next to someone" Remorse and disillusionment after sleeping with a stranger "So don't mention the War " humorous imperitive from Fawlty Towers, not sure why its relevant "North, South, East where's best?": feeling of being lost "And needle point aside": double meaning (compass point and hypodermic needle) "What fools boredom breeds": sex leading to "goldfish", or kids "Oh don't believe the hype Expectancy will always spoil a party" Despite all the hype saying that you can still have fun while pregnant, it puts a real damper on things. Basically, its about sleeping around, getting pregnant, seeing your funloving young life disappearing out the window thanks to being a single mom, resorting to alchohol and drugs to cope. Kinda sad really. |

Supertramp – Rudy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Meanwhile, lets dicuss it here. I haven't interpreted the lyrics yet, but I really love this song all the same. I especially like the cool section towards the end ("you better...). |
Supertramp – Bloody Well Right Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. It merely says "You know all that stuff you complain about? well, your absolutely right about the whole lot!" |
Pink Floyd – Echoes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Your walking along the street and you see someone walking the other way and for a second.. your eyes meet and lock and you percieve that you have everything in common and you see your expression mirrored in their face and time sort of slows down and the moment hangs in the air and your life is changed forever because of that one moment. I think it is a metaphor between the evolution of a species and the evolution of a person. The verses sort of alternate. After listening to this song, I feel sort of exhausted but satisfied, like I just finished having sex. About as pleasureable too. Something about just makes me babble inanely. |
Cream – Sunshine Of Your Love Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Another song best listened to on vinyl. Since this album was recorded in three days, many of the songs have audible imperfections. This is one of them. Listen carefully in the beginning during the opening riff, and you will hear a noise that definately isn't in the song... a sound almost like a snare or someone dropping something. Just a little tidbit I thought you might enjoy. Actually, I think Ill go and listen to it right now... |

Cream – Strange Brew Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Screw the metaphor! Dig the rythm! I agree with ChildInTime. But by me, nothing competes with this song when played on original vinyl. When I play it on CD it seems to lose some of its magic. |
Cream – Blue Condition Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The singer sounds stoned. Cool song! |
The Police – Bring On The Night Lyrics | 18 years ago |
KInda depressing... the change from major to minor key after "night" fits the mood perfectly. Whenever I hear this song I picture someone lying in bed during daytime, curtains drawn, dull yellow light half-filling the dusty room, just staring at the ceiling with vacant eyes... |
The Police – It's Alright For You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Great rythm, its almost rap, but in a good way |
The Police – Walking On The Moon Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The tempo is just right for the lyrics, too |
The Police – Contact Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Ive got contacts in my book and in my eyes... Brilliant *sniff* |
Supertramp – Goodbye Stranger Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Similar sentiment to "Stay", by Pink Floyd |
Supertramp – Hide In Your Shell Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The "ghost sound" is produced by a musical saw, I belive. I love this song!!! |
Pink Floyd – Interstellar Overdrive Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Similar to Echoes, but without the architecture, deep lyrics, or other things which make people (including myself) weep over that song. Syd, by the way, did not "write" it; it was a group thing. Look at the credits. They all contributed. |
Pink Floyd – Echoes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Has anybody ever asked the bandwhat they meant? Note: when it comes to mood, this song (to me, anyway) fits perfectly with the book The Amber Spyglass. "The window in the wall" "A million bright ambassadors of morning" "And I am you and what I see is me" Echoes is absolutley the most deep and moving song I have ever listened to. I got a SoundBlaster Live! card on my computer just so I could listen to it in quadrophonic. |
