Gift Horse Mouth – I Hate Myself And Want To Die Lyrics
| 18 years ago

The band is pretty well known in and around northern England, but are getting bigger and bigger by the second. Their stuff is very un-commercial and some of it is quite hard going, but the listener is rewarded for their perseverance. As a live act, they are incredible, and they are not "gothic" as such. |

Gift Horse Mouth – That Handsome Guy Lyrics

A really sad song- I think "That Handsome Guy" is God, and the singer is trying to persuade a girl to ditch her religious persuasions and "do the deed" with him. |

Gift Horse Mouth – Streaks & Lines Lyrics

Okay- so this English guy's girl has moved abroad, and he's devastated. He gets more and more upset the more he reminisces about the things they've shared and done together. Beautiful and anthemic song! |

Gift Horse Mouth – Never Be Strong Lyrics

Ok- where to begin. Guy has girlfriend, cheats on her and treats her badly (though it does appear he was in love with her- maybe just couldn't keep his pants on!) When she leaves him, the rain comes (and other metaphors) and he really misses her and regrets what he's done, perhaps because she never told anyone he'd cheated on her, a heroic act which saved his reputation. |

Gift Horse Mouth – Marty's Diary Lyrics
|
A real sad one about a victim of a bully, who records his thoughts of his situation in a diary. But the bully steals it, and as he reads it, becomes aware how depressed his victim is. Decides to go to apologise, but finds he has killed himself. Craig Morris hates this song! |

Gift Horse Mouth – Demand You Lyrics

This song is painfully sad. The protagonist seems to be well aware that he's losing a loved one (possibly to some terminal illness?) Perhaps he is contempleting suicide to join his partner- "what should I do? Sprout wings float up & join you". And perhaps he is jealous of all the attention she is getting on her deathbed? "I could never steal your spotlight away?" Am I even close with this? Just an opinion! |

Gift Horse Mouth – Born Sideways Lyrics

I've never heard this one to be honest, but lyrically it's wonderful. It's descriptive and twisted. Does anybody know if they've ever played it live? Any clues to lyric meanings? |
