The Who – The Seeker Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"I won't get to get what I'm after Till the day I die" existentialism, perchance? |
Tom Petty – Honey Bee Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i agree with you both. it seems to be characterized by sexual deviance, although we have no way of really knowing. it could be that his "honeybee" was a super rich socialite, of age, but also taken, and he's saying, "keep it on the DL," because even though infidelity isn't as taboo as sexual deviance, it's still socially unacceptable. my question however is about the short pants. and juju beads. but honestly, i don't think we'll ever get to know. obviously this relationship wasn't allowed and so my opinion is, is that he took advantage to bring parts of their relationship public without risking the negative consequences. like, the juju beads and short pants are inside relationship info. |
The Beatles – I Am the Walrus Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Rather than rendering it to mean nothing, why not let it mean everything? |
John Frusciante – A Fall Thru The Ground Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"Kill your mama, kill your daddy" reminds me of Buddhism. In the 9th Century Lin-chi stated, "...if you meet your parents, kill your parents. If you meet your relatives, kill your relatives." It wasn't meant to be taken literally: "He was challenging them to get past their daydreams of enlightenment and their dependence on custom, ceremony and traditional piety so that they could see the Dharma directly for themselves." (Ryuei Michael McCormick: Clinging to the Buddha) The following line, "I'm the peace man so understand me," fits the Buddhist interpretation as well. The last four lines screams 'addiction' to me in the most heart-wrenching of ways. I imagine the 'sap' to be the chosen substance of addiction. I interpret it as this person being so emotionally attached to this substance that when he was out of it, he "almost died right on your lap." Perhaps the dying is symbolic for something...hmmm? Anyway...that's just one interpretation. |
John Frusciante – Femininity Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I wonder what he means by, "I'm going to come down a feminine's throat." It's interesting how he uses 'feminine' as a noun. |
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Whatever We Want Lyrics | 17 years ago |
is he calling moral people boring? |
John Frusciante – Head (Beach Arab) Lyrics | 17 years ago |

John Frusciante – Scratches Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love when he says, 'screaming bloody murder." s-c-r-a-t-c-h-e-s + j--o-h-n-f-r-u-s-c-i-a-n-t-e = 23 letters... the song is 4:19 long... 4 + 19 = 23. |
John Frusciante – Anne Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i think the first verse is his enactment of the spirits talking to him. to have said, "john you can't hide, you know we'll find you..." would have been too obvious so i think he used the name anne instead. i think the second verse that starts, "the gods of the city have called my name" is through john's perspective. |
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Torture Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love this song. I think it has to do with drugs. "I'm happy to be sad." Maybe he is tempted by his old lifestyle. |

perhaps he used the cancer as a symbol of his feeling so crippled to this one woman who has locked him away inside her heart shaped box |
The Beatles – You Can't Do That Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Okay I heard that this was Lennon having a conversation with God. So many people think that Lennon and the Beatles were pretty much the 60's "saviors" and that they were blessed with this responsinility to help out America and attempt at instilling love and peace which ultimately saves us you know? A lot of people thought and still do think of their music to be almost "divine," So let's just say Lennon *was* God's chosen one...Lennon was saying, "I'm gonna let you down and leave you flat" and then he talks about himself in third person Lennon says, "Well, it’s the second time, I’ve caught you talking to him, Do I have to tell you one more time, I think it’s a sin," 'I think I'll let you down' he says... "Ev’rybody’s green, ‘Cause I’m the one, who won your love, But if it’s seen, You’re talking that way They’d laugh in my face. So please listen to me, if you wanna stay mine, I can’t help my feelings, I’ll go out of my mind," See with following this whole idea, this part is saying to God, "I won your love and people are jealous about it. I mean if they heard what kind of ideas you wanted me to communicate for you, they'd laugh at me." Then he says, "Please listen to me if you want to stay mine" which means he's laying it down and kind of venting to this higher power he is communicating for. Okay so this was done in the very beginning of the Beatles' musical career so this idea makes sense with the timing. And then at the very end of their career, their last performance on a roof top singing, "Don't Let Me Down" it's kind of like the Bealtes saying, "We gave you all this music and tried to instill some peace. We have taught you. Our job is over. It's up to all of you now. 'DOn't Let me Down'" It's kind of a word from God as well, don't you think? Continuing with that whole savior idea of course... |
The Beatles – Sexy Sadie Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Wow I didn't know all of the Maharishi info. I was raised by a dad who basically thought the Bealtes were speaking for God. You know...kind of like the new Jesus on Earth? Yeah his religion is rock and roll...Well he always told me Sexy Sadie was about them themselves, since they offered so much peace, love, and music to the world. *They* were the Sexy Sadie. Like..."you broke all the rules" "sexy sadie is the greatest of them all" and "how did you know the world is waiting just for you" if you think about this song and all the beatles put out...it kind of makes sense...in a crazy sort of way haha |
The Beatles – Savoy Truffle Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i have to agree with caliente! on that one...i mean eric clapton has never done much for me. i've always thought he was kind of boring. |
The Beatles – Wild Honey Pie Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this song is so awesome...that's all i have to say. |
The Beatles – Helter Skelter Lyrics | 18 years ago |
[Awesome song, probably one of the first modern 'hard rock' songs. Even though the Beatles were anything but hard rock, for it's time this song probably was.] -posted by Muzzy I noticed that too...it sounds so different from all of their other stuff because it has such a modern sound. A song that I think might have been influenced by this song is Bloc Party's Helicopter...the beginnings at least. They sound different for sure but also strangely alike...I love this song! Too bad some sick fuck had to tie such terrible acts to it...my mom has a hard time listening to it for that reason alone. |
Incubus – Drive Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i think it might mean something about chemical addiction and being sick of how it runs your life |
Red Hot Chili Peppers – I Like Dirt Lyrics | 19 years ago |
o ya...AND sex in general I think it's about. "some come up and some come young" hhmmm... i wonder what "comes" young. I'm sorry but I think he's talking randomly about sexual situations: getting erections (some come up) climaxing early (some come young), oral (give good tongue) and hey maybe even anal and also getting "down" in the sun! |
Red Hot Chili Peppers – I Like Dirt Lyrics | 19 years ago |
when i think of this song i think of oral sex cuz he says give good tongue....anal?? |
Red Hot Chili Peppers – I Could Have Lied Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i didn't know he dated sinead o' conner...hm |
Red Hot Chili Peppers – This Velvet Glove Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i love this song...it's one of my favorites. I think he's talking about being torn and confused and dazed by a girl who he liked romantically. Perhaps he was so caught up with drugs and trying to hide from his emotions and then all of a sudden....he meets this beautiful girl that takes his breath away and he isn't sure what to do, because for so long he hasn't been connected to his spirituality and what he feels. I think the song shows signs of redemption in that he will come to accept his emotions because he says his"will is well" also, when he says "it's such a waste to be wasted in the first place" skye frusciante you said that a velvet glove was condom....maybe he wants this girl who has inflicted such spirituality upon him to break his velvet glove, and release his "naked self" the guy who has been buried under the, drugs hence his velvet glove, in other words I think it's a metaphor |
