so we're at this point again, aren't we? another modest mouse album under a major record label. should i be a proper MM fan and enjoy this music, or should i be "indie" and dis on the band because pitchfork does? hmmm... oh the decisions... hell mr. indie. you may be thinking to yourself, "it doesn't sound like their old stuff" or, "it's so commercial." he he. funny thing about that is, you're right. it doesn't sound like their old stuff. because it's fucking NEW. "strange, new doesn't sound like old? i must hate this cd! it is horrible!" funny thing about saying this is commercial, mr. indie, is that you're probably saying this as you play it through your mom and dad's expensive home stereo system while eating a fat, greasy, hamburger from mcdonalds, you piece of shit. it's amazing that you would consider yourself indie, too. because you're thoughts are not independent. you're just jumping on the indie bandwagon (which is hilariously ironic) to further your truely independent lifestyle. how can you honestly say that this is a bad song. a bad cd? both are goddamned amazing, and i pity/hate you mr. indie. |

two things sum this song up without even reading into it. 1. the title "so much beauty in dirt" 2. the line, "i never knew nothing so there's nothing to forget" 1=the most simple things in life are amazingly beautiful. people ignore what they have. 2= Isaac was obviously not surrounded by artificial, superficial needs, therefore he didn't worry about it ever. "out of sight, out of mind" and thats the best way to grow up. you can appreciate shit a lot more ie. dirt. |

cheesenugget, I have two points to make: 1.) yes they did sell out on the Moon $ Antarctica, but they realllly "sold their souls" with Good New$. And i dont care, and if your a real Modest Mouse fan, you shouldn't, because would you rather 1. have Modest Mouse be broke and make no more music or 2. sell out, let the radio have a new flavor of the week then have Mouse continue back into underground obscurity? I choose the latter. Besides, i'd sell a couple of songs of mine if i ran out of beer/rent money. (not that i have any) 2.) no, teeny boppers shouldn't listen to good music. that's why they have their shitty music to listen to. the kind of music that has no meaning, or thought put into it. |

| As an atheist, i know exactly what Isaac was trying to relay with this song. Firstly, it shows the inner conflict (inside an atheist) of the debate of the existence a god or not. My friend tried making a comment that Isaac was a hypocrit, and i told him my idea then called him a dipshit. Secondly, it is saying that God (if there be one) takes care of himself, and you should take care of yourself, because god isn't going to do it for you (all you goddamn blind people following an idea so fucking literally (you're going to be the end of the damn world with your willingness to hand over your problems to "God")). As for "It's all nice on ice, alright", well I'm sure that's a random line where Isaac said, "Hey that sounds cool, i should put it in a song." Well there's that. | |
