Why do people hate this song? It rules. I used to rock out to this when I was a little kid. |

Nine Inch Nails – Sin Lyrics

People, it's about Trent having intercourse with a man... the fist belongs to the man in question, see? And isn't it "it's trained", not "your strain"? |

This song scares the crap out of me and physically causes pain. They should rename it "Where Bluebirds Peck Your Head Till You're Dead". |

Simple Plan – Welcome to My Life Lyrics
|
Gosh, this song/band sucks. It saddens me that the young and vulnerable are growing up feeding off this drivel instead of real bands that express real emotion and creativity. Listen to something else... anything else... substantial stuff that doesn't get played on the radio much...
I'm telling you music is damned important to how people develop. It's a scary thought. |

The fact that a song like this can be sold as a "hit" -- edited or not -- shows what's wrong with our society. |

This song pisses me off. Eddie, go back to screwing your model wife and leave us poor depressives alone, ok, jerkoff? |

U2 – Miami Lyrics

POP is ok, Miami's an ok song, but POP will never measure up against U2's best songs (most of which were from... the 80's! And will never die!). |

10,000 Maniacs – Hateful Hate Lyrics

One of the worst song titles ever. I love 10,000 Maniacs, but sometimes Merchant's lyrics could be a little over the top. |

Piece of pope? Aaahh!!
I love this song, no real idea what it means but it sounds good. I love the chorus. "What would we do without you?" |

Haha, this is great. Watterson seems to just want to be left alone, but some fans can get a little over enthused about things. |

Kate Bush – Wuthering Heights Lyrics

This song gets me teared up. The saddest part is, "Ooh, let me have it, let me grab your soul away". Always makes me want to cry. I like the original vocal better than the newer one... in the old one she sounds like Olive Oyle and at first you want to laugh at it, but then the emotion catches you off guard and it's even more powerful and raw.
I've never read the book but I first heard this song after seeing the movie version with Ralph Fiennes and Kate Binoche in it, and I started to really weep. |

LL Cool J – Mama Said Knock You Out Lyrics
| 18 years ago

I have to laugh at how over the top this song is. "Think I'm gonna bomb a town!", well alright. The parody of this in the movie Fear of a Black Hat (filled with rap and hip hop parodies) is great, it's called Granny Said Kick Yo' Ass.
Anyhow, what's the deal with "Farmers"? |

Pink Floyd – Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 2 Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
Why don't the lyrics list the opening of this part? It goes something like (this isn't exactly right), "When we grew up and went to school there were many teachers who would hurt the children anyway they could. By deriding every weakness no matter how carefully hidden by the kid. "
Then, "But [something...] when they got home at night their fat and psychopathic wives would THRASH them within inches of their lives!". Then the music swells and soon launches into "We don't need no education".
As for what the song means, it may have a specific personal meaning to the band but that doesn't mean it doesn't have a broader meaning for a larger audience. I definately think it's about problems with the public education system and how can strip individuality and even humanity from kids. "The wall" to me is, as someone else said society made up of bricks, bricks that are people... ok, I'm not explaining this very well. But you get what I mean. Non conformity and all that. |

Rod Stewart – Young Turks Lyrics

No, I'm not a minister, I just don't think it's a good idea to be so "free" that you wind up with a kid when you're 17 and then to glorify that in song. I didn't get the impression from the song that the kids learned any lesson or that the song was any kind of warning. It sounds
like it's mindlessly praising them. |

Procol Harum – A Whiter Shade of Pale Lyrics
| 18 years ago

Every song can't be about drugs! I don't know exactly what it's "about", but the line "whiter shade of pale" is somehow very sad. Like something that was already ruined just went even further down the drain. This song makes me pretty sad in general. *sniff* |

Pink Floyd – Comfortably Numb Lyrics

I've never thought of the song as being about drugs (is every song secretly about drugs?), but just about losing your dreams and yourself and becoming a part of the machine of the world over time. |

U2 – Original of the Species Lyrics

The song goes, "do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-dodo-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do--sugar, c'mon". I think it's about a donut shop. He just can't say "donut" so it comes out sounding like like "do-do". It's about wanting sweets. |

Rod Stewart – Young Turks Lyrics

This song is awfully irresponsible, basically telling kids to have unprotected sex and not worry if they get pregnant, or worry about anything because "time is on your side". Real great message!
I do like the lines, "We got just one shot of life, let's take it while we're still not afraid... Because life is so brief and time is a thief when you're undecided".
But the message of the song that teen pregnancy is just great and that youth should be totally reckless has always bothered me. |

Kate Bush – Running Up That Hill Lyrics

Well, my first impression was that it is about wanting to change places
