Vienna Teng – Momentum Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I'd like to believe that this song is about two people who are on the brink of getting into a relationship, and that she's asking him to affirm everything between them and get the ball rolling. Or something less cliché. |
Ani DiFranco – Untouchable Face Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I agree that this song is more about unrequited friend-love than an ex, though of course I understand that anyone who's ever had their heart torn apart will empathize with this song. I think the part about how she doesn't want to see zir is SOAUTHENTIC. I mean, logically you want to see the person that you're in love with. But then it hurtst too fucking badly and you want to die. (to someone who will never, ever see this: FUCK YOU. FUCK. YOU.) |
Girlyman – Speechless Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Hearing Doris sing this live almost brought tears to my eyes. She has such a beautiful voice, and the lyrics are so beautiful. |
Stephen Lynch – If I Were Gay Lyrics | 18 years ago |
...I actually think this song is really sweet. XD Compared to his other stuff, this isn't really perverted. And just... heh. It's cute! |
Shawn Colvin – The Facts About Jimmy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
OMG JAMES WILSON INDEED. |
Billy Joel – Vienna Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The reason I love this song so much is that there are so many different ways to interpret it, and all of them are right. Here's one I haven't seen yet: Unrequited love. The narrator is more mature, in love with this frantic young person who's rushing everywhere, stressing eirself out and it hurts the narrator because ey loves em. The narrator's expressed eir feelings but the young person is freaking out because ey is afraid--of commitment, of taking the time to enjoy eir life. "Vienna" represents everything that a relationship with a stable person could offer someone. But you know that when the truth is told That you can get what you want Or you an just get old This is saying that, when you have the option of happiness in front of you, you can either embrace it or get old before your time. The "borderline" is the line between friendship and romance. You got your passion you got your pride But don't you know only fools are satisfied? If you just accept whatever you can get that's simple, without aspiring to anything greater, you're a fool. Dream on, but don't imagine they'll all come true My favorite line in this song. You can imagine all the ideal futures you want, but you're being an idiot if you pass by something beautiful and REAL in pursuit of something that may never happen. |
Madonna – Don't Cry For Me Argentina Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Anyone who doesn't feel the tiniest speck of emotion listening to this song has no soul. |
Madonna – A New Argentina Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Eva is so fiery and idealistic in this song. |
Madonna – Waltz For Eva And Che Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Oh man. This song is beautiful. Eva defending herself to Che, it pretty much explains the whole show. Much love. |
Rent – Christmas Bells Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Aw, man, this song is classic. Can't beat RENT. |
Rufus Wainwright – Old Whore's Diet Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I always thought an old whore's diet was sex. :o I mean. He also says "to say I love you / gets me going where I want to", and that kind of goes along with sex in the morning. I dunno. |
Ben Folds Five – Best Imitation of Myself Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Oh, man. I love this song. I always thought it was about someone hiding from someone they were in love with. Especially this line: "Don't want you hanging out with No one but me" It's sort of ambiguous; literally the narrarator doesn't want to "hang out with no one but [him]" because he's afraid the other will see through him. But in the colloquial way, it means that he wants the other all to himself. Oi. |
Olivia Newton-John – We Go Together Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I love the randomness of this song. Ah, high school. XD |
Sarah McLachlan – Full Of Grace Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I loved this song at the end of Buffy season two. So sad, so beautiful. :{ |
Lisa Loeb – Stay (I Missed You) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Um. Does it really matter whether the song is to a girl or a boy? oO It's still a wonderful song. |
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Once More with Feeling – Something to Sing About Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Once More with Feeling – Rest in Peace Lyrics | 19 years ago |
My heart bleeds for Spike in this song. Poor, sexy Spike. :3 |
The Beatles – I'll Cry Instead Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I LOVE this song. It's so underappreciated. It's about the anger someone feels after a breakup. |
The Beatles – Hello, Goodbye Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think it's about someone who says, "This relationship is OVER," but really it's just starting. :o) |
Bryan Adams – Heaven Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Bryan Adams blew me away with this song. There's nothing else to say. |
Melissa Etheridge – Come To My Window Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Oh, the crazy things we do for love. I adore the "I don't care" segment. <3 |
Elton John – Your Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I'm not a die-hard Elton John fan, but this song just stands out from the rest. Most people give a negative connotation to "simple" music, but Your Song is simple and elegant and makes you go "awww" every time you hear it. |
The Beatles – Revolution 9 Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Obviously contrary to popular opinion, I love this song. It's such chaotic nonsense. It gives me the chills every time I hear it. <3 |
