It is easy to appreciate only the gangsta part of the song, but to me this song speaks a lot more: When I get free, motherfuckers better watch they ass Soon as I get released, I'ma clock some cash 'Clock some cash' - He has no plans to open a business, or be good at some skill. Those are thoughts for simpler people who haven't faced the ugliness of prison. 2Pac knows what matters in this world - cash - and how to get it - a job that requires little use of intellect. Did some time locked down, but I'm back on the street There'll be trouble when they see me Prison came and went - now he am back. Yeah, he did some time now lets move on. I guess it was too painful, and now that he is out on the street, too grim and otherworldly to even try to understand it. 2Pac doesn't accept his position of a hardened criminal while those who sent him are free, and maintains his original persona. There will, indeed, be trouble. These are lessons that I learned in jail Rule one: fuck a busta he can burn in Hell Isn't that true. As a child you start with a bunch of like-minded friends. Then you find some who cheat, then some who manipulate, then some who disappoint and by the time you are married it is you and your family. As I said, the gangsta part is the dress, the metaphorical part about being institutionally repressed and what happens after getting 'free', is the meat. |
