Los Campesinos! – We've Got Your Back (Documented Minor Emotional Breakdown #2) Lyrics 9 years ago
Agree with tjwells, and I think it's "We're throwing punches and ducking blows"

Los Campesinos! – Romance Is Boring Lyrics 9 years ago
This song feels like the continuation of There Are Listed Building (http://www.songmeanings.net/songs/view/3530822107858799304/#73015855002), the song before on the album where a new romance starts. All of a sudden the romance is boring.

Also, Garreth sounds like Art Brut when he says 'We are two ships that pass in the night...'

"I remember being naked to my waist though not in which direction" makes me laugh each time.

Los Campesinos! – In Medias Res Lyrics 9 years ago
Love how the song changes.. from the signature Los Campesinos intro, to the joyful explosion of 'But let's talk about you for a minute'. It transitions to a dark bridge ('I'm leaving my body to science') that sounds different than anything else that the band has put out. And finally to the happy trumpets and poignant 'If you were given the option of dying painlessly in peace at 45 but with a lover at a side after a full and happy life... Is this something that would interest you?' -- first emotionally powerful moment of the album and the reason I love Los Campesinos so much in the first place.

B.o.B – Generation Lost Lyrics 9 years ago
Corrections:

Everything you do from your SHADES to your shoes
From your chains to your coupe came from the TUBE
Trust me I would know, I was raised on it TOO

... B.o.B (no period at the end)

And now all the rappers gotta STRUGGLE to give you

------------

So first B.o.B talks about how everything you do came from the TV (the tube) and comments on society in general. He transitions when he says:

"I'ma turn the tables so you don't get defensive
I'ma put my bullshit aside for a second
'Cause I can't be fake, cause god won't let me"

There's this idealized persona that B.o.B and many others just don't fit into - ("What else was there to do besides look like a thug?"). He changed his name and changed his appearance to fit into that stereotype, but it wasn't working for him so he will "keep it real til the day I fall".

I love what he says about the rap industry. In eight lines, he sums it up better than anyone else I've heard. We've created a beast, made rap into pop, but B.o.B's got our backs.

This song is too dope.

the chorus sounds like TV on the Radio for the "ooooo"...

this song is about feeling great when you're blazed. cudi makes it sound more profound than i just did, though.

Los Campesinos! – The End of the Asterisk Lyrics 9 years ago
"I'll tell you one thing:
It's spot on and I'm better"

and

"Honestly, you're an absolute tragedy
Not like 'heroically' in all of the books you read.
I read your novella,
Oh how I laughed!"

...has this liberated/stung/kind of empowered tone that I dig... never heard a band really get it like that without edging towards sounding whiny.

They played this in How I Met Your Mother when Ted finds out that Stella left him. Perfectly fitting in my opinion.

I can't believe nobody's mentioned this yet... the main reason the words are so catchy is Sheff's consonance.

I'll capitalize every 's' sound:

UnleSS it'S fiction
UnleSS it'S Sweat or it'S SongS?

The Smiths – Sheila Take a Bow Lyrics 11 years ago
I always thought it was a dialogue between someone and morrissey. Somebody asks morrissey how he sings such sad songs even though he's so young. Morrissey attributes it to a girl named Sheila (Sheila, take a bow)

The Smiths – Accept Yourself Lyrics 14 years ago
This song means a lot to me... it gives me a range of different emotions. On one hand, it is a song about accepting yourself, just as the title suggests. But the story of the man that won't accept himself is more important.

When he says "Who and what do blame?", it shows how people react to failure. Maybe not everyone asks themselves this question directly, but in a way they do.

The next important statement is "Anything is hard to find when you will not open your eyes". Morrissey is telling us and him that the answer to his problems is right in front of him. He needs to simply accept himself and move on.

The most impressive thing about this song is how Morrissey puts such grand issues so simply.
