The Avett Brothers – I and Love and You Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"... the song was inspired by a gig at Brooklyn's Galapagos. "It was the coolest place we'd ever been, and the furthest from home we'd ever been in every sense," Scott Avett tells Spinner. "So the Brooklyn chorus kind of embodies the rest of the lyrics." http://www.spinner.com/2009/06/24/the-avett-brothers-i-and-love-and-you-song-premiere/?utm_medium=columbia-email&utm_source=theavettbrothers&utm_campaign=columbia-email%7Ctheavettbrothers%7C20090624 |
The Left Banke – Walk Away Renee Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I just read this: "...Michael Brown, wrote the song when he was 16 years old, and it was about fellow band member Tom Finn’s girlfriend, who he fell in love with. He says when they went to record the song “My hands were shaking when I tried to play, because she was right there in the control room. There was no way I could do it with her around, so I came back and did it later.” |
The Avett Brothers – My Last Song to Jenny Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think that Jenny is unhappy but she wont come out and say that there is a problem. She's hoping that he will be able to read between the lines and realize on his own that something isn't right. She's unhappy and they've been arguing about everything but what the real problem is. What does this song mean to me? I think that she isn't happy with where she is in her life and in the relationship she is in and just wants to live "happy and free" but he didn't see it coming and now that he sees whats happening he's having trouble separating the relationship that he thought he was in (in his mind) and the relationship that he's really in. (But I don't know how to seperate the now from what used to be). And neither are happy about it. |

Cake – Hem of Your Garment Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song wasn't the first place I've heard someone say that they weren't fit to touch someone else's garment. The times I've heard it, it was usually said sarcastically. I always figured it was in reference to a bible story. Jesus was walking through a crowd of people, everyone grabbing at him with hopes of being cured from whatever ailed them. Then this one very ill woman crawled her way close enough to flick the hem of Jesus' garment, thus being cured. There's more to the story and I'm sure someone will be quick to correct me but that's the gist of it, I'm probably not the best person to be telling bible stories ...but THAT ladies and gentlemen is your bible story of the day. :) |
