Gordon Lightfoot – Song For A Winter's Night Lyrics 19 years ago
Who hasn't been separated from someone they love? By time, or distance, or death, and hasn't wanted them to be close, "to be once again with you." It paints a sad, quiet picture, that is so very perfectly done.

Jethro Tull – Fire At Midnight Lyrics 19 years ago
It paints the perfect scene; a husband and wife settling down for the night, in front of the fire, a quiet drink together. For all of us who like to be back home with our significant other, this song says it all: "It's good to be back home with you."

Simon and Garfunkel – Kathy's Song Lyrics 19 years ago
This is one of the first S&G songs I really loved, after "Bridge Over Troubled Water". Compared to that song, "Kathy's Song" is simple, straightforward and expresses love in a subtle and wonderful way. As you listen to it, sometimes it seems more as if it's spoken, rather than sung. You can almost picture Paul speaking these lyrics to Kathy over the phone, across the sea.

Chris De Burgh – For Rosanna Lyrics 19 years ago
Simple and straightforward, for any parent who's ever raised a child, it conveys, simply and straightforwardly, what that parent feels for that newborn child. It's a tender, loving song.

Dire Straits – Walk Of Life Lyrics 19 years ago
This is a happy song, exuberantly done, and fun to listen to and to sing along with. To me, it's about a young musician, down in the subway tunnels, playing for change, just having a good time while he plays, and trying to pass some of that fun on to his listeners.

Dire Straits – Skateaway Lyrics 19 years ago
This was the first Dire Straits video I ever saw, and it just enthralled me. The music, the visuals, the words, all about this young lady who "got her own world in the city yeah". A great song!

John Denver – This Old Guitar Lyrics 19 years ago
A marvelously simple exposition of the man, who he was, and what he did. Beautiful music, beautiful words.

Harry Chapin – Mail Order Annie Lyrics 19 years ago
The epitome of a story song, bringing to life in tender words and melody another time and place. Two people, strangers, thrown together in the most intimate aspect imaginable, trying to make a life under some of the most difficult conditions. When Harry writes like this, the pictures come alive in you mind.

Harry Chapin – Tangled Up Puppet Lyrics 19 years ago
As the father of a young lady who is growing up oh so fast, this song always give me pause, and make me reconsider just what she means to me and how much I love her.
