The Rembrandts – Johnny Have You Seen Her Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Yeah, if you're not sharp enough to figure out what this song is about, you should take a long look at your girl and your best friend... just in case. |
They Might Be Giants – Don't Let's Start Lyrics | 10 years ago |
"The lyrics have been heavily analyzed by the band's notoriously obsessive fans for a full generation now, and although at its heart it is some kind of a love song (or perhaps a breakup song), no one seems to have come up with a satisfying explanation for most of the more obtuse lines. It’s possible that many may actually just be nonsense written to fit the music, a notion bolstered by John Linnell’s oft-repeated explanation that the song is about “not let’s starting” (figure that one out as a grammatical construction). Among the twists and turns, the song is most noted for some of its dark lines immediately juxtaposed with gibberish, such as: No one in the world ever gets what they want and that is beautiful. Everybody dies frustrated and sad and that is beautiful. They want what they're not and I wish they would stop saying, “Deputy dog dog a ding dang depadepa Deputy dog dog a ding dang depadepa.” D, world destruction Over and overture N, do I need Apostrophe T, need this torture?" http://nosurfmusic.com/nosurfvinylessentials/reviews/theymightbegiants-theymightbegiants/index.html |

Sweet song. Very MGMT-esque. Someone please tell me what these lyrics mean. |
Charlie Daniels Band – The Devil Went Down to Georgia Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Although, the devil is 'way behind', and 'willing to make a deal'. |
Tom Waits – Hoist That Rag Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I don't agree with the way you hear the lyrics, but you have made some really interesting connections based on what you heard. |
Metric – Speed The Collapse Lyrics | 11 years ago |
It seems to be about warning signs and our tendency to ignore them. It could be about the housing bubble, economic collapse, international poverty, or even the 9/11 attacks, yes. A 'mansion built in a day' could be the entire USA- being a superpower at only 200 years of age... "a day" compared to how long other empires took to be built. Deep song. Great song. |
My Robot Friend – Failure Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I finished at the height of my high school They said I could do whatever I wanted to I thought about it for a while And then I answered with a smile I choose failure, failure and regret Failure and dreams I never met Failure, failure and regret Failure and dreams I never met I learned to follow rules and be repressed My parents were so proud of my success I could say that it was fun but I'd be a liar Four years, like a match with my head on fire Choose failure, failure and regret Failure and dreams I never met Failure, failure and regret Failure and dreams I never met It's a long way down There's so much further to go, so much further to go-o-o Yes I'm all alone, feeling blue Never knowing what to do Was happy, now it's low Stubbing each and every toe Never getting out of bed They pick someone else instead Burn out faster than a comet Wake up in a pool of vomit You can't even touch your toes We all know where your money goes Popping pills, playing dumb Make pretend you're having fun Old and fat, weak and bald You waited but they never called Having sex with rabid squirrels Beaten up by little girls Too much pot, bored a lot They all laughed but you got caught No one asked you to the dance Someone stole your underpants Up all night, sleep all day Looks like that rash won't go away Public favor, secret shame You've only got yourself to blame Wait but never get your turn The lessons that you'll never learn A perfect moment but you spoiled it I flushed your goldfish down the toilet Volunteers, volunteers That's really nice, but no one cares What's the moral? I'm not sure I got it bad, there ain't no cure For failure, failure and regret Failure and dreams I never met Failure, failure and regret Failure and dreams I never met It's a long way down There's so much further to go, so much further to go-o-o |
Beastie Boys – Girls Lyrics | 13 years ago |

Sting – All This Time Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Thank you. :) |
Elton John – Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Don't feed the trolls. |
Klaxons – Flashover Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Some of the listed lyrics are not right. e.g. Others bring 'New Dawns', not 'you dolls'. At any rate, "Myriads of silver disks" along with all the talk of 'dimensions of time', 'our new neighbors', and 'the overmind' seems to really be speaking of ET's and their technology. I believe the whole Klaxon theme in this album relates to ETs and the like. |
Say Anything – Wow, I Can Get Sexual Too Lyrics | 14 years ago |
We all know that every rock song ever written is about sex and drugs.... ...Mostly drugs. |
fun. – All the Pretty Girls Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Catherine Wheel – Waydown Lyrics | 14 years ago |

I know people seem to think every song on this site is about drugs... In this case, it's true. |
The Rembrandts – Johnny Have You Seen Her Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Sounds like the singer is a bit suspicous about the nature of the relationship between his girlfriend (wife?) and his good friend Johnny. Johnny denies it, but our singer is having a hard time believing him. |
Pet Shop Boys – Always On My Mind Lyrics | 14 years ago |
One 80s remake of a classic song that dioesn't fall on its face. |
Bright Eyes – One Foot in Front of the Other Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I don't really like Bright Eyes much at all. But this song is very powerful. Many lines in it speak to me and how I see the world. |

Every song on this site is about drugs. |
Boz Scaggs – Lowdown Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Timeless. |
The Ark – One of Us Is Gonna Die Young Lyrics | 14 years ago |
The singer is feeling an urgency to live life to the fullest every day. His reason: statistically, of every group of 12 friends, one will 'die young'. He is encouraging his friends to stop worrying and start living. |
Bruce Hornsby – Mandolin Rain Lyrics | 14 years ago |
They don't write them like this anymore. |

And yet you took time out of your day to post on this small message board how much you dislike this song... To borrow a phrase of yours, "wow." |

Soul Asylum – Black Gold Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I had always thought this song was about race, but the gulf war makes more sense. If this song is about the gulf war, then 'fill up the tank' could have a hidden meaning. |

Led Zeppelin – Fool in the Rain Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Yes, he is waiting on the wrong block... but not because the girl he is waiting for is on a different block, but because the girl he SHOULD be waiting for is on a different one. An amazingly creative and well-executed song. |

The Black Eyed Peas – Boom Boom Pow Lyrics | 14 years ago |
It's a BEP song, guys. It's for dancing... it's not going to have the lyrical depth of a Bob Dylan tune. The song is great.. Video matches it perfectly. It's all about being on the 'next level' compared to the other musicians/artists today. And these are the lyrics to Taboo's part: I'm on the supersonic boom Y'all hear the space ship zoom When when I step inside the room them girls go apeshit, uh Y'all stuck on Super-8 shit That low-fi stupid 8-bit I'm on that HD flat This beat go boom boom pow (Super-8 was a really old format for VCR tapes, and 8-bit describes electronic sound. 8-bit is not very good - something like the old Nintendo NES sounds. Most modern games use 32 or 64-bit sound now. |
Fastball – The Way Lyrics | 15 years ago |
She didn't know where she was going, and he didn't care. They died together tragically, but it is still in some way beautiful. |
