Poe – 5&½ Minute Hallway Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is a bit ambigious, actually. I read the book almost a year ago, so forgive me if I get some details wrong. But sometimes, I feel like it's from Karen's point of view for a lot of this song...

Karen lives at the other end of the hallway, she doesn't dare go in, and so as far she she can see, he is still miles from her. And when Navidson's brother comes over and measures the house, neither Navidson nor Karen really buy into believing the house is bigger on the inside, and they just feel like he got it wrong, and that would fix all the problems. I think this song is as much about the hallway as it is about the distance between Karen and Navidson, and the distance between them still growing as much as the hallway does. At the point of "but there's only so far i can go," I think it switches more to Navy's point of view, and he's lost. I think the "when you can't resist part," refers to Navidson definitely because there's something about the unknown that he's just drawn to and he can't resist the hallway. I don't know. That's all I have. :)

The Subways – I Want To Hear What You Have Got To Say Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is great. Open to a lot of interpretation. :] I actually think the boy who broke up with the girl. And he wants to hear what she has to say since he broke up with her. His mind's made up, he says, about breaking up with her. The problem is he can't understand why she doesn't still want to be friends and "just walks away." He wants to talk to her, and hear what she has to say, about the breakup, or just in general. Overall, he just wants to talk to her.

And she's trying to move on with her life, trying to be "so happy." She feels confused (her head's "spinning around"). And she can't stand to stay when she sees him, obviously, because she's so confused about everything. She feels like she's trying to put her life back together, and she has "everything to lose" when she sees him. She could break down again. She can't stand to risk that. She's still upset and thinks he's "the one to blame" for all of this, he's the reason why she's feeling like it's metaphorically "raining" all the time and she can only pretend to be oh-so-happy. She just can't handle seeing him at this point in her life, even though he's pressing her to talk to him.

The Cardigans – Do You Believe? Lyrics 16 years ago
This song sounds so good, but it's so dark. She just gets you to believe that sometimes love isn't enough, like Bryia says. I think of this song whenever I think of someone who's betrayed me. Usually people in your life betray you, leave you, then come back years later, and they seem to have turned over a new leaf, all happy and wonderful.. as if their new love and life has redeemed them for their past betrayals. That's what I think this song is about. By saying "save your soul," it implies that the persons soul needs to be saved in the first place, thus implying that the person hasn't been the most virtuous. She just asks if love is enough to redeem you for fucking someone over. So you turn over a new leaf. So what? She doesn't think love is gonna save you. Tough luck. :[

The Birthday Massacre – Violet Lyrics 16 years ago
This is such a good song. But I was thinking about the first few lines
"The tragic comedy divine
Paints the way to peace of mind,
Leaving shallow lovers far behind."
The word choice is interesting. The "tragic comedy divine" makes me think of The Divine Comedy. I was just thinking that Hell is seemingly the ultimate prison. In The Divine Comedy, Dante paints the way to peace of mind, and salvation. Just an interesting thought. :]

Eve 6 – Bring the Night On Lyrics 16 years ago
When I hear this song, I envision a couple fighting. She's picking a fight, and he's loves her dearly, but he's becoming tired trying to tell her that over and over. She's putting him "to the test," and he's trying to tell her that she's "not just another," but he's getting so sick of it. His mood "isnt better yet, sober and humorless," and he's just kindof given up. He's just saying "turn the light off, leave me where I lay" not wanting to go through another day of fighting.

Rob Zombie – Foxy Foxy Lyrics 18 years ago
To me, this song kindof depicts a lot of women out there. We'll look at a boy, look away. Size him up, you know? And as you well know, foxy means someone who is very sly, coy, seductive... So with this in mind, she sounds like she has the upper hand, so this guy ("mongrel") is like, "what's it gonna be? are we gonna do it or not?"
And I'm not sure, but looking at thisss:

He lives for relics, hang on the wall.

it sounds like.. he's just looking for another notch in the bedpost. Like, "yesss. i slept with herrr." lol. That's what it seems like to me.

Sonata Arctica – The Power Of One Lyrics 18 years ago
It definately has to do with racism, in my opinion. I can understand everyone else's opinion, but I don't see really how it relates to the Power of One, other than the fact that Peekay isn't treated fairly because of his heritage. Surely, Sonata Arctica had more intended than that!! Tony is brilliant

Fall Out Boy – Nobody Puts Baby in the Corner Lyrics 19 years ago
Alright, well.. Here's my input! [Interpretation from the simple mind]

I think this song is basically about this boy who loves a girl, as most people have figured out. And he finds out that she's been whoring herself to all these boys, and he's jealous to a point where it becomes anger. The third set of lyrics starting with "keep quiet" is this man reflecting on what's been happening lately, and expressing that he's done dealing with it.

Well, that's the way I interpret this song.. To each there own.
