Eminem – Rain Man Lyrics 19 years ago
Yeah you feel fucking stupid don't you? Sorry buddy, you can't try to turn this around on me. You're a fucking idiot and you officially win the 'Most Obviously Ignorant Dumbass Comment Ever' Award. Congratulations.

Oh my god. rnjholley, thank you so much for clearing that up. If it wasn't for you I would have honestly believed he literally meant the word "shit". You are a genius, you simply shouldn't waste your mind powers here on SongMeanings, when there are so many other people who need your special abilities.

The title and chorus aren't some huge mystery. "Rain Man" is a movie, starring Dustin Hoffman, who plays an autistic character named Raymond who talks just like that... def-def-definetly dope.

Boards of Canada – 1969 Lyrics 19 years ago
from the OOR interview:

'"1969 in the sunshine" (from: 1969). What memory is that? Woodstock? A yellowed picture of your parents? A collective memory that fits your music?'
'Mike: In that song it refers to a specific period in the history of a religious group, and at the same time the period in general, the hopefulness of a forward-thinking generation that wasn't aware of what was coming in their collective future.'

I heard this was a hook phrase used in Branch Davidian recruitment. If you look in the booklet there's a blurry picture of the eye of David Koresh.

Yeah, I agree. LaVey was full of shit. By the way, the lyrics of BoC's remix of "Poppy Seed" have part of the same lyric in it. They go something like: "Edward says to me that there are approximately [2500?] to [3000?] cult organisations in the United States today .... there are millions of people ... involved in what we call destructive cults. ... Although not a follower of David Koresh, she is ... I don't think that somehow ... suicidal impulses."

when creativity, intelligence, and talent are compromised for a few extra bucks, that's selling out. any intelligent person can recognize the massive dumbed-down difference between his earlier music and this recent music.

listen, and try to understand. eminem IS one of the best at his genre, and that's why we're being so critical about his new album and this song in particular. he doesn't need to compromise his creativity just to make more money, he's smarter than that. i don't dislike eminem because he's popular, what i was saying is that now his talent is suffering just so he can stay in the spotlight. a lot of people don't understand how insanely genius his earlier music is... he doesn't need to target the mass audience. that's selling out. using a little more intelligence and creativity is more impressive than staying on the MTV countdown for a few more weeks.

bengt12 already said it best, now allow me to expand.

i think i could mathematically graph out the decline of eminem over time. i could also make a graph of the people who like this song in relation to their age. all you little shits who post comments on this song during a MTV commercial break don't really recognize or appreciate the extent of eminem's progression as an artist. for anyone under the age of 18, please, allow me to educate you (and for those of you above 18 who like this song, you're old enough to know better).

let me take you on a trip down memory lane to the year of 1998. at this time, it was korn and limp bizkit dominating the musical scene, with a few hits from the likes of jay-z and puff daddy... not really accesible to the majority of the white population. all of a sudden, radio stations started playing this single called 'my name is'. what the hell? who sings this? eminem? who's that? a rapper? AND HE'S WHITE?! holy shit. a bomb just dropped on the music industry, destroying every boundary between rap music and white kids. so like everyone else, i picked up the 'slim shady lp'. it was, and still is, unbeleivable. a brand new style that had never been heard before, with the most creative and hilarious lyricist that came out of nowhere. this guy is rapping about eating mushrooms and beating women. eminem had won my heart, it was romantic.

a few years pass, and he releases his sophmore album, 'marshall mathers lp'. music scene is similar to the time when the first one dropped. just as creative and talented as the first, this album showed that eminem wasn't done running over the music industry. can it get any better?

then came 'the eminem show'. music scene changed, any rap artist could shit on a record and sell it to most of the kids, but eminem wouldn't do that to us. but... there's something missing. the creativity on the first album, the driving spark on the second album, gone. sure, it's still good enough to sell, but is it selling out?

fast forward to 2004. the single 'just lose it' is released. i just lose it. eminem has just lost it. 'encore' drops and the album as a whole is so disappointing that it makes me depressed. wow, theres a couple good songs? the album still is a failure. each album represents one of the three sides of eminem right? then why the fuck did he make a fourth. 'the eminem show' didnt deserve an encore.

let me add that between these albums, eminem had countless appearances with other artists, and every song was awesome... 'dead wrong' for example.

so what's my point? i'm sure that 'just lose it' appeals to a lot of you, because you're growing up on this shit MTV feeds you. nobody can honestly say that this song, or this album, compares to ANYTHING eminem has previously done. so all you little kids, do the world a favor... turn off your television, go pick up the first album, and try to forget that eminem has 'just lost it'.

Staples, you are the only one wasting people's time with dumbass comments. I'm not sure why you're so quick to accuse anybody else of posting irrelevant opinions... just look at the what you've posted. You haven't said one thing regarding the song itself, or anything to back up your opinion. Think before you type, if that's possible for you... and if not, find somewhere else to make an ass of yourself.

And this song is beyond awful. In fact, the whole album sucks. Eminem is done.
