Pretty sure its just about a girl remembering her first time having sex. I like the line "I felt sad, but I didn't know why." I think us girls can all sorta relate to that. I mean, we have all these prevision of what our first time will be like, but it never is. And you're kinda disappointed that it wasn't all its cracked up to be. And you know what you're "supposed" to feel like, but you don't. Yeah, I don't know if that made sense, I'm good at rambling. Good song though! |

I don't know how to feel on this song, I made the mistake of watching the music video before paying attention to the lyrics. She (Annika) seemed really pushy and demanding in the video so I look at this as a girl who's practically scaring a guy away! (As the video suggests imho) But yeah, looking at the lyrics alone I see the whole sad aspect to it, but yeah, I'm stil brainwashed by the video, dammit! |

I'm only 22 years old, so I'm not sure what my qualifications are to even be posting on my thoughts of this song. But here it goes anyways! My first memories of this song involve sitting in the rear of my dad's 1986 dark red mazda. He was singing along to it in the drivers seat. I know that my memories have absolutely nothing to do with this song. But every time I hear it, I'm just taken back. It was summer, hot, windows rolled down, and though I never knew the meaning, I listened to every word, and mumbled the chorus each time it ran. I wasn't a day over 5 or 6 years old, but this song just stuck, and years later as I downloaded it onto my iPod, and as I listen to it now, it just brings back happy times. I'm not good with words, but this song just reminds me of my entire childhood. It's just a song I grew up on, through my dad, and I love it. I wish my dad used the net more, so he could post his feelings on the song. I'm sure it means much more to him. |

Is the "Here comes your son" part a possible reference to the Beatles song "Here comes the Sun"? The lyrics to that song say "here comes the sun, and I say its alright" instead of HSH which is "he isn't alright." Maybe signifying the time frame of this song? I don't believe the mother drowned herself in the ocean, the ocean reference is simply a book she was reading to him about the ocean (it could be a real book but I have no idea). The boy just wants to be with his mom who often dreamed of going away to the ocean which she read to him about. "Fill our pockets up" possibly means filling them with rocks in order to drown faster. When people kill themselves by drowning, they often do that so they won't float. It's a horribly sad song, and I demand a follow up song from Molly's point of view after James was found (possibly) dead. |

the lyrics on the album are so lackluster! She has immense vocal talents but when she uses them on crap that is 80% of "Under The Blacklight" it makes me ashamed to admit I was a fan of RK. There is nothing wrong with changing your sound, but the fact that this goes along with the new record company change, it makes me question their devotion to music vs. money. |

While stereotypes would say cutting is a middle school fad, I knew many adults in college and beyond who hide their self injury addiction for that very reason. Maybe instead of assuming it only happens to -kids- looking for attention, we could realize it happens to people of all ages. Then maybe the older ones can get the help they need. Just noticing a trend in the comments on here really irritated me. This is a great song. :) |

The lyrics are lacking compared to old Rilo songs, but since their shift to a major record label, catchiness and simplicity is what sells. I don't mind listening to this song because it -is- so damn catchy and fun to sing along with, however, I am still disappointed. I sadly hope this record fails and RK go back to their old ways. |
