Asheru – Boondocks Theme Song Lyrics 16 years ago
Jesus Walks is shit. Jesus Walks is non-gun non-bitches and hoes rap for the sake of making non-conformist rap. Kanye is faker than gas station Rolex.

The Flaming Lips – Chewin' the Apple of Your Eye Lyrics 17 years ago
Every lyric site has said this, and I swear it's wrong. Is he really saying "I Like Your Helium voice?" To me, it's always sound like "healing", and I can't hear an M on there. Granted, either way it might make some sense... 'cause he's drunk all the time.

I do love this song though.

MC Chris – Kingdom Farts Lyrics 17 years ago
I like how two comments label him as a nerd rapper, coming from the album where he says on a skit, "Well, I'm not just a nerd rapper, I rap about all kinds of things. My music kind of transcends boundaries."

Teddybears – Punkrocker Lyrics 17 years ago
Everybody who doubts the artist to this song is wrong. These are the lyrics to the Teddybears STHLM version of it. They later renamed their band for US success and rerecorded the song with Iggy Pop and a few revised lyrics.

The one on "Soft Machine" has those altered lyrics. Not this one.

The Decemberists – Here I Dreamt I Was an Architect Lyrics 18 years ago
Did anyone hear Colin Meloy's NPR broadcast where he did this acoustic, and then at the end started singing Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams?" "Well, I just gave away the secret to that song."

Eels – Manchild Lyrics 18 years ago
It can still be about the selfishness of suicide even if she hadn't done it yet. Chances are she still contemplated it. Even if it's not like that, regardless of suicide, I think xpankfrisst got it right. It seems that whenever he talks to the person is when they're depressed, but when they're happy they forget how he's always been there, or contemplate how they have not a friend in the world when he's always been the shoulder to cry on. Maybe all he asks is just for them to never be sad and appreciate how much he loves the person in question. Maybe he has problems too, and needs comfort just as she needed comfort. He wants to feel loved also.

I said the same thing to my girlfriend though, Python. I was lightly singing it and saying, "You know, this song is really more depressing than it sounds." We didn't care.

Eels – Hospital Food Lyrics 18 years ago
I don't know why, but this song makes me laugh and feel good. I just love it's jazzy feel, and then that high-pitched falsetto. My favorite's when he adds in "Delicious Hospital Food" in the first chorus.

I think it just means that no matter what you do, bad shit is gonna happen, but don't let that make you not enjoy life. Here today, gone tomorrow. You should live it up, because at any given moment you could be stuck in a hospital eating their dry turkey and pasty potatoes.

Eels – Spunky Lyrics 18 years ago
Sorry, just adding more:

Spunky don't like her uniform
It never fit so good
Goin' back to the orphanage
And the place where her garage once stood

Have you ever tried putting clothing on animals? They don't seem to enjoy it. And maybe he got "Spunky" from some people who had a bunch of puppies/kittens for free in their garage. My mom picked up her last cat at a Garage sale.

I mean, maybe he just wanted a song about his pets and how much happiness they bring him.

I don't know much about E's life, but this sounds like it's about pets.

Gorillaz – Every Planet We Reach Is Dead Lyrics 19 years ago
I think it's about a long distance-relationship that isn't failing because of love, but because of distance.

Plus, the song reminds me of the Stephen King book "The Tommyknockers". Anybody else think that? Not the movie, but the book.

And the Ben and Al connection:

Weird Al directed the video for Rockin' The Suburbs.
Ben played piano on "Why Does This Always Happen To Me?"

Ben Folds – I Paid My Money Lyrics 19 years ago
No, this isn't Weird Al. This is Ben, but the reason you probably can't find it online or whatever is because it's off the Fear of Pop album, a weird spoken word/instrumental album that he did with this band... named Fear of Pop or whatever. I don't know the full details, but I have the CD, and trust me... it's Ben. I've also heard that this started as an early Ben Folds Five song, and that somewhere there is a version of them playing it.

The meaning though, I can relate to: the guy is staying to end of the credits of a movie, because goddamnit he paid for this and he's gonna sit and watch it all! Besides, sometimes they put little things after the credits. Take your movies at home and fast forward to the end and find out for yourself.

Ben Folds Five – Honey Don't Lyrics 19 years ago
This was a Carl Perkins cover, recorded for the Good Rockin' Tonight PBS special (Which is available on DVD and for purchase at Amazon.com), but it's pretty much saying the guy has doubts of whether or not his woman loves him... So he's saying, honey, don't go creeping around with other men. I love you, they don't! Come on! COME ON!

Ben Folds – You To Thank Lyrics 19 years ago
I heard in an interview Ben was saying this song was about kids who jump into things to early, getting married to young, when everything doesn't have to be such a big unknown dive. With time, all great things come, but it seems that people don't sit and wait anymore to feel things out. It's all head-first into commitment.

Ben Folds – Them That Got Lyrics 19 years ago
What I love is how this is a Ray Charles song, and when you think of literal translation versus actual meaning. "I ain't seen nothing yet." I think from Ray's point of view it was just trying to say that generally, it's the rich who get richer and the poor who get poorer, and God knows when he's gonna get his fill. Somehow, he's gonna have to manage to get what them that got are supposed to get, but so far, he ain't seen nothing yet.

It's true, though. You gotta get something before you can get something, but how in hell do you get it in the first place?

Ben Folds – Wandering Lyrics 19 years ago
You know what? THE WHOLE EP OF SPEED GRAPHIC IS SAD! They're all heartbroken songs... except "Dog", that one just catches me off guard.

Did anybody see the movie 100 Girls that this was in? I like how they used it in that scene. The guy had finally found the girl he had been searching for, and at that time she didn't want him because it took him so long to realize that it was her who he loved. You'd have to see the movie completely to understand what I'm saying right here, but I see it all the time for sale at Best Buy. Suckers. I bought mine on DVD in the cheap bin at K-Mart.

I think everyone else though has the meaning right. It's just about a guy who's sick of waiting for her to make up her mind, and just saying, "You know what, you just lost the greatest thing you never had, and what do you have to show for it?" I love it.

Nirvana – Lounge Act Lyrics 19 years ago
Does anyone think that this song shouldn't have been called Lounge Act, that the title was mixed up with Territorial Pissings? That's always been my theory...

Wait, the Journals disagree with me on that, that's right. Was it done like that on purpose or am I just crazy?

My Chemical Romance – I'm Not Okay (I Promise) Lyrics 19 years ago
I know a girl who broke her foot (or ankle) and also loves taking pictures. I was always miserable around her because I love her and she never really answered me back, so she would constantly be asking me, "What's Wrong?"

My answer: "Nothing, I'm okay. Nothing's wrong."

This song kind of shot the whole thing down perfectly.

Weezer – Only in Dreams Lyrics 19 years ago
This song reminds me of Prom. I was with this girl who's four hours away at college now, and I love her so much. I had known her for a year, we had become good friends, and she had been "my ride home" on several occasions. I had written her a note which I threw at her before I left class three weeks before prom explaining how I feel about her, and we never talked about it much after. Then, while working on the school play, my friend Tori told me to ask her, to which I replied she probably wouldn't want to go.

Tori said, "Well, what if I told you that a source says that they want you to ask her to prom? And that this source is about five-something with whispy hair?"

So I went to Prom with her and had a great time, probably the closest I've ever been to happy. And the next day just seemed like it was a dream, just like nothing ever happened. The tux went back, and we were still just friends all through summer. I didn't even get to kiss her goodnight. I try to keep in touch with her as much as I can, but I've lost her. So the only real way to hold on to her and that moment is dreams.

That's what the song means to me.

Ben Folds Five – The Secret Life Of Morgan Davis Lyrics 19 years ago
There is a studio version of this song, I have it on an EP, and it's amazing. I love it. The meaning though is pretty self-explanitory though. As he says when he performs it live, "This song is about a man who goes out late one night to buy some Cream of Wheat and ends up coming home with a little bit more."

Ben Folds Five – She Don't Use Jelly (Flaming Lips cover) Lyrics 19 years ago
Yes, this song is on the "Lounge-A-Palooza" comp which is an excellent CD, and it's also the B-Side of a bunch of singles. There is a studio version as well as the live DVD version, and it is a Flaming Lips cover. Hearing Ben do it made me go out and buy Transmissions From The Satellite Heart.

I've always thought this song was a very wittley worded song full of metaphors for Masturbation, but I could be wrong.
