Its not about whos fault it is the libertines can't reform pete has to take responisibilities for his actions. And has no one noticed as time goes on he's becoming more and more impossible to work with not turning up to gigs being to mashed up to complete gigs. Its not easy to work with an addict and its even harder to have to watch your best friend destroy themselves. I think carl could have let it continue, let the libertines continue and have given pete no reason to even try giving up the smack. They could of made loads of money out of it , out of petes deteriation. Pete is hurt and its understandable but its hard to see the bigger picture when ur that messed up. And killamangiro well its just a song about being an addict being on the stage as some sort of freak show "why would you pay to see me in a cage" or maybe its about he'd actually make some money if "THEY"stopped trying to take away his freedom to do what he wants. That he's prepared to die for his decisions prepare to die in front of those that didn't understand. And about robbing to make the cash for the next score. The need being so bad that u would kill a man for his giro.

I wouldn't be quite so specific with what each thing stands at. I think its a song between happiness and Melancholy. Autumn and shade are both states of transistion. From summer to winter from light to dark. This song I would say is about being inbetween places. I would call it a happy sad song. He's on the verge of happiness or despair and the dream like music helps give it the sound of somewhere near delerium. A very calm and peaceful sort of maddness. |

Brand new info written about a rather debauched night at a glasgow club night called Disco X. Apparently michael and some other bloke where dancing together. In Alexs' words "they got together in a very sexy way". The other blokes name will not be divulged due to his girlfriends jealousy about the "fling" he had with michael. When asked about whether he was tempted to join in any of the boy on boy action Alex answered "Everyone looked wonderful that night". I don't know who's gay straight or bi all I know is the song is as totally gay as it is awesome and its nice to have a bit of homoerotic edge to a song for a change. Apparently the real life micheal will appear in the german version of the video for the single. |

Dizzees cool cos he's less commercialised. His beats are a lot darker and his ryhmes are much more realistic. Actually his ryhmes are a lot darker than most to cos its about real life the picture he paints aint that pretty. It's something I can relate to. Though its funny now everyone(well those sad gits I knew at college who lived in hackney) goes about hackney being the ghetto which is bullshit its a dump but it aint no ghetto, and they like show off about it. And yes that is relevant cos Dizzee is from Hackney way. |

No.02 in the charts beaten by the barely dressed aerobics video dance track. I'm not sure about this song, melodically its not a very strong track. Its a nice piece of pop but thats about all it is, nice. Lyrically a lot less direct than past tracks. I think it is mainly anti Nixon and a lot of it is quite sarcastic but at the same time I think they are putting to light at the end of the day he was a man who got it wrong, in places they're emphatic. But I really dunno. To be honest I'm a bit rubbish since I don't know much about Nixon. Maybe I'll comment again when I know. All I can say is at least the manics are still trying to say something and they are trying to make it marketable but I think they've gone a bit too far. Musically they've become too bland and middle of the road for the indie kids. But they're far too serious and old for the pop kids. I really do hope the rest of the album is better which I will buy no matter what. |

Its about the day in day out slog of life. Good times, bad times and all those times when your just going through the motions and not feeling much at all. I've always interpreted the "I can change" bit as wanting to be someone else wanting to break out but you can't change your "mould". The "million different people" bit just refers to the many faces we all have but at the end of day you can't break away from who you are.
This songs just about the ups and downs of life. Hence Bittersweet symphony". But it is beautiful and it uncapsulates life in a brilliantly harsh way "You're a slave to the money then you die". Goddamn I wish I wasn't such a broke waster. |

A few further thoughts on the title highly evolved. There are references "to buying love" and "buying blow" which can be seen as our consumerist society where money can buy us happiness. We are highly evolved we can do all these fantastic things, but we're still vulnerable we don't necessarilly own love or happiness despite all our supposed intelligence. we're still "dreamin for somethin, reachin for somethin. And at the end of the day we're all just killing time before we can sleep again "just waitin for the sun to carry me in. I mean thats all personal interpretation for you hope it helps. |

Well on my lyric sheet the first time it says love the second it says blow. So could well mean prostitutes and coke so twice the fun for you. I mean I dunno what its like in Aussie but in central london before they got rid of most of them there were loads of telephone boxes full of calling cards.
With all the references to feeling bad but then going on to discard them claiming he feels happy. Also leads me to believe that this happiness is artificial. The guitars become darker at those points less bouncy. Which makes me think of something less pretty breaking into his good mood. |

LOL at elodie well I wouldn't say its that blatantly gay but since I love discovering latent homosexuality even where it does not exist I say notice the line "Of the boys I hate, all the girls I hate" the type of boys he doesn't like and he hates all the girls well in that way.
I reckon its about finding an escape from school. I mean cinema is escape you watch a film and you're removed from your life into a fictional world. I think there's a slight story of love or lust or perhaps just admiration. It's in "the darkness of the matinee" that he is free from the trappings of school it is his place because it is more of a fantasy world.
And yes the third verse is a little confusing he's shot into the future. Being interviewed by Terry Wogan the band have explained that when they were younger being interviewed on wogan meant you'd made it. He looks back on it all and wonders what he's actually done in this world and once he does that it becomes quite surreal "but his deference is... and his laughter is" he also says how is "words and smile are so easy now" this all still feel to me like a slight detachment from it all. It suddenly seems strange how things have gone so far he's gone from some shy school boy into something much greater. And then he seems to come back to earth with the repitition of "Yes it's easy now". |

yeh if u don't like the subject matter just listen to the music not the lyrics. But by the way this is the song that made me love the ferdinand I love the homoerotic edge to it. Personally I love a bit of man on man action... I dunno if I'm a girl alone in this. But its a lot like men liking lesbians. Anyhow. I heard them say in a TV interview that Michael is a friend they were'nt being very coherent on answering.
But aside from this specific song you guys seem to only have a problem when homosexualitys spelt out to you. I mean this band were always as camp as hell if you ask me, well perhaps matinee onwards. The outfits, the eyeliner, the dancing. Not necessarilly queer camp but camp.
But god this song is hot. |

its about what the chorus says its about "Girls who are boys who like boys to be girls...etc" its about free love and sexual freedom. Androgyny became trendy in the 90s. I think Greece is pretty big for gay bars. There certainly a lot around to where I went there.
altho I also think joey the boy has a point. but u also have to take into consideration most of the 90s thatcer was in power and unemployment was at a high there really was a shortage of jobs.
I wouldn't be as cynical I'd just say its about being young and experimenting. Going out on the pull. but there is obviously a slant on unaccepting characters in the verses. With taunts of "so call the police" and allusions to ignorance and stupidity. |

matrix mouse I think they probably didn't use the song heroin in trainspotting cos its a bit of a junky cliche cos its just such an obvious song.
I'm sure Lou Reed did enjoy heroin I think its pretty impossible not to enjoy. but I don't think he enjoyed the conflicting sides, I mean addiction is never fun mind u I guess he could afford it.
I think it shows a lot about junky mentality. Junk is a painkiller. And at the centre of the song is great unhappiness. Heroin is used to fill the holes in life "it's my wife and its my life". Its used to dull confusion note the slowing and returning to calm of the music as he comes to accept the conculsion "I guess that I just don't know".
It shows heroin as an escape so the character in the song wants to "Escape from the big city". And the lyrics "Thank god that I'm good as dead and thank you god that I'm not aware" Shows that this person is grateful to be half dead. The junky is searching for oblivion its a kind of alternative to suicide. He even acknowledges it int the line "be the death of me". He knows what he's doing and what he's heading for. And if it doesn't kill you physically its gonna kill u inside till all u have is a need to fulfil.
And I love the way that the song mimics the rush from its slow beggininngs to the frenzied middle and the come down. |

I've always thought it was much more about being young and having nothing to do and nowhere to go. Altho I can see what you mean. Just the fact that its "high on diesel and gasoline" and "Lost it to bostik" Its about sniffing glue etc not really a past time of the rick. Sniffing glue is what all the punks who were too poor for nething else used to do.
It also talks about getting into bands and gangs. I dunno maybe rich kids hang round in gangs but that kind of activity has always seemed to be a last resort for lack of nething else to do u hang out in parks getting drunk on cheap booze.
It all seems quite low class cos its talking about not fancy bars and trendy clubs but raving. And shaving ur head well skinheads aren't really higly rated in social scales.
But to be honest I dunno I've just always thought it was about living like where I live. Not posh ppl. I've always thought it was just about being young and fucked up and the beauty that comes with youth even if its all a mess. And the bit about "and if your babys going crazy.." is just saying mum and dad its ur fault I'm wasting my life away. |
