As Collins has explained many times over and over again, this song is NOT about someone drowning, as many people seem to think (including Eminem's Stan. Eminem himself probably DID understand what this song's about). The true theme is Phil's divorce of his first wife, which was very hard for him. I've always liked this song, sounds deep and mysterious. The live version on Serious Hits Live (recorded in Berlin, 1989) is definitely the best one, which says a lot, because the studio version is already really good. Collins should be proud of that one. |

Wicked! Really strange sounds, gitar solos played backwards. Cool song, though I like the Phil Collins cover better than this one. Slower, more relaxed, and still it has some Beatle-like sounds in it. |

Wow...... magnum opus, one might say. Incredible, and really, really good, thought it's not the most easy music to listen to. But 23 minutes is exactly the right length. It seems to be about a man and a woman, representing all the people on the world, travelling around, and finally coming home after an enormous journey, coming home in the new Jerusalem, which is probably heaven. So, in short, it's about the ending of the world. In my opinion. Unfortunately, hardly anyone I know likes it. Too "inaccessible", too hard to listen to. Probably why Genesis was already called "alternative" in the 70's (let alone present day). |

Quite a good song, bit of a return to the older, mysterious Genesis music. Thought it resembles Duran Duran, too. Sounds a bit darker than the Collins songs. Pity Genesis broke up. Though a reunion of the early 70's lineup is still possible. Collins and Gabriel already told in interviews they would like to reunite once. Hope someday it'll really happen. |

It's about Peter Gabriel leaving/getting kicked out of Genesis. The other band members obviously thought he was a looney (quite understandable, thinking of the crazy live shows Genesis gave, led by Gabriel). Apart from that, he just didn't agree with the other members about the music they were playing. The last Genesis album with Peter Gabriel, The Lamb lies down on Broadway, had lyrics completely written by Gabriel, who had written none of the music. This was probably an indication of what was bound to happen. Anyway, the song's great, is has a great beat and sound. For some reason, the older Genesis and Gabriel songs always sound really English to me, unlike the 80's songs (which, of course, were in a completely different styles). It always brings up the view of English hills and working class neighbourhoods (the old ones, which cover almost the entire country). |

Actually, I think Jay-Z is not a perfect fit for LP, they're just overfocused on making money. I agree with _Puka_, pimpz, niggaz, hoes and stuff like that DON'T BELONG TO LINKIN PARK! The only "good" song off Collision Course is Numb / Encore. And that's because of the sound, which sounds like hiphop AND like LP but not wrong. |

It is quite a cool song, but it adds nothing to the original "Numb" or even comes close to it. And, as I agree with SSJ3Dew, the cursing wasn't necessary. Not that I'm so hypocrite that I'm really bothered by it, usually I don't care, but when listening to Linkin Park, I'm listening to the LYRICS too, because they're great. Great raps with MEANING. But in this case, most of the meaning there was in the original song, is now gone because of all the cursing and the "I'm a pimp"-attitude of Jay-Z (I hate hiphop). Too bad. One of the few P.O.D.-songs that is not about God. It's about the trouble many kids experience in school, anywhere on the world. Some are bullied and/or ignored, or just aren't one of the guys (or girls). This leads to anger, depression, and sometimes suicide. As those kids (who form quite a large part) don't have any true friends, they get paranoid, too. And a relationship with a girl or boy they can really forget. Having been (and still going) through this, I think I know what I'm talking about. I really like this song, it has great lyrics and it sounds great. P.O.D. makes quite good music, actually (apart from some rubbish like Without Jah Nothin' and Portrait and stuff like that). |
