Love this song, love the bridge. FRom what I found, valhalla is the hall in which Odin received the souls of slain heroes. Don't know how it fits in with the song, but it make a little sense. |

Maedhros was captured by Morgoth in the 2nd battle and chained to Thangorodrim (the mountains surronding Angband) Fingon asked the Valar to send aid. Aid came in the form of the eagles and Thorondor. Fingon had to cut off Maedhros's hand. Can't think what else that song's about. |

The 5th battle was the only battle not to be started by Morgoth; elves started it. It's one of the saddest tales of the Sil. In the beginning, Morgoth boasts his greatness (ignoring the fact he hasn't beaten the elves) Then comes the arrival of men. It was a branch of the Easterlings that betrayed the elves. The 3 Houses of Men and the followers of Bor were allies of elves. As this songs said, no song or tale can contain of the grief. (but a nice try by BG) Hurin is taken by Gothmog and is imprisioned by Morgoth and is forced to watch the events unfold. (he was only released when Turin, he son died) |

Lord of Waters=Ulmo Ulmo showed Turgon where to buod Gondolin, an elven city hidden in the mountains (Ered Gorgoroth) "Shall I leave my friends alone Hidden in my twilight hall (I) know the world is lost in fire " Sounds like Turgon debating whether to help his fellow elves, but he doesn't want to leave his city. He fears by leaving, it will be discovered and it'll be sacked. The dragon mentioned is Glaurung, the Father of Dragons aka Worm of Morgoth. (Glaurung was a flightless dragon, the winged ones came later) |
