Cake – Comfort Eagle Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I really like where CarpeNox is headed. You cannot deal with only one issue ever. Perhaps the author started out criticizing the music industry, or even a specific record company, and, when he examined the reason behind the way it was, he had to allude to capitalism, then he had to allude to Western culture in general to explain capitalism, and, in alluding to capitalism, he realized the influence of religion (specifically Christendom) in the West as well. I am not always a concise writer, so I am going to try a quick comparison to explain what I mean: You cannot lower the crime rate simply with laws and enforcement. So you must then consider the cause of crime. If you look at statistics, you will conclude that young minority males are the problem. To stop there would be absurd, so you must dig deeper and try to figure out why young minority males are the vast majority of criminals. You will quickly see a trend in economic class. Poorer people are more apt to commit a crime than wealthy people. That only makes sense, when you consider that they have far less to lose in society than a wealthy person, and, at that, far less to live on. However, to stop there and assume that getting poor minority males to stop breaking the law would solve the problems of crime in this country would still be foolish. If you examine the percentages of each ethnicity of the population, and compare it to wealth distribution, you will see that whites have far more wealth than minorities, relative to their percentage of the total population. The very start of America was white men essentially stealing the land from the natives, and quickly, slavery was established. So, from a Historical standpoint, whites have been in control of this nation. It is obvious that that has not changed, thus we see the majority of crimes being committed by young minority males. I apologize if that made things more confusing, but, if not then you can see how there would be so many references to so many different things in a song criticizing the music industry, per se. CAKE is apparently too deep to stop at saying the radio has been playing the same shit for years, and it blows. Though I am still pretty unsure about the drug references, the rest makes sense. |
Britney Spears – Oops!...I Did It Again Lyrics | 17 years ago |

As Cities Burn – One: TwentySeven Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The song is a great on humility. He takes the lesser liked viewpoint on humilty. It resembles many monastic writings, especially "The Ladder of Divine Ascent," in which St John Climacus says "Drink from the cup of humiliation like it is living water..." |
As Cities Burn – Thus From My Lips, By Yours, My Sin Is Purged Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"oh my God how sweet is the sound, I once was blind, but now I just look away."; need I say more? |
Norma Jean – Organized Beyond Recognition Lyrics | 19 years ago |
it could go to everyone who aren't themselves, but, since Josh Scogin, the person responsible for producing these lyrics, is a christian, that is probably what he was aiming at. christianity, and fellow christians are what he is familiar with. |
mewithoutYou – My Exit, Unfair Lyrics | 19 years ago |
aaron weiss and josh scogin are possibly the two best lyricists in music today. well, they are in my opinion, and, mine is the only one that counts for me. |
Da Vinci’s Notebook – Enormous Penis Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i think i sharded myself from laughing so hard at this song... |
The Chariot – The Company, the Comfort, the Grave Lyrics | 19 years ago |
the line "tell God I will return in the morning" is so sadly fitting for so many people. they know what is right and wrong, and they do wrong, consciously, against God's word, knowing (or at least thinking they know) God will forgive them when they are done. the Bible says "thou shalt not tempt the Lord, thy God" and that is exactly what some people do with their very way of life...heartbreaking... |
Zao – The Last Revelation (The Last Prophecy) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
phenominal lyrics, to a phenominal song, on a phenominal album, from a phenominal band. i just was inspired to listen to this cd...i love it...and zao rocks live too. |
Shinedown – Simple Man (Lynyrd Skynyrd cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
actually, lynard skynard was a band, not a person...like led zeppelin, band name, not a person. and this is a phenominal cover from a phenominal, when compared to today's other rock artists, band. |
Cake – Comfort Eagle Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this is the song that my friend showed me, introducing me to cake...they are a great band, granted i could take or leave a few songs on this album, the ones i like i love...and i lvoe this song. |
The Dillinger Escape Plan – Destro's Secret Lyrics | 19 years ago |
how can you say its not about rape cuz they are not that kind of band? a lot of their other songs are about murder. |

The Mars Volta – Cicatriz ESP Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i do not know how different these lyrics are the the original single, because i was only introduced to these guys a few months ago, and thankfully so. i went out and bought the cd, and, literally for two weeks straight, the mars volta "de-loused in the comatorium" was the only music i played...over and over and over. and it has only gotten better, i still usually listen throught the entire cd at least once or twice a day. and, yes, they themselves profess to be selfish, but, what kind of artist does art for anything or anyone but themselves? |
The Agony Scene – Paint It Black (The Rolling Stones cover) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
this is a cover of a rolling stones song, and a good one at that. i love this song and the original rolling stones too. |
Story of the Year – Swallow The Knife Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i think he is usin the physical wounds, and the blood to show emotional hurt. "swallow the knife to carve teh way for your pride" is basically saying how much the person he is singing about's pride and arrogance hurt. the thorn in his side in the 1st verse could be a mistake taht he has made and feels bad for, because, in the bible, Paul writes that his sin is a thorn in his side. |
Dead Poetic – Four Wall Blackmail Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i can relate to this song a lot because, me, and a couple friends in my youth group are like the original members, so everyone looks at us as almost perfect, and expects so much out of us. And every time i do soething that i will regret, i feel like the walls are blackmailin me. we are all humans, and WILL sin. However what i like so much about this song is how he feels bad about it, and still goes to God. the bible talks about not having your conscience seared to the point where you don't feel bad about sinning anymore, and the singer (along with me i might add) hates every tie they fall. |
Blindside – Cute Boring Love Lyrics | 20 years ago |
yo guys are right about the abstinence and stuff. however, the title "cute boring love" i see could be two different things. A) it could be describing the casual sex relationship, and the meaninglessness in it. or B) it could be said in sarcasm as the veiw of the world that a nonmarriage relationship without sex is boring, and the morals involved with that relationsip are just cute. they don't realize what it really means. so there is another opinion to toss around |
Blindside – All of Us Lyrics | 20 years ago |
does it bother anyone else that some people can't accept that the majority of secular music is talentless (lyrically and musically) and that the best modern lyric and music writers are christians. and the same people wil accept any veiw, except christianity. if someone were to give a buddhist or hindu way of looking at this song they would be like "you know, i never realized that before" but as soon as they see taht is a christian song, immediately they are turned off. |
Brave Saint Saturn – Resistor Lyrics | 20 years ago |
this is my favorite BSS song. the lyrics are very well written, and the music just puts in teh perfect mood for the lyrics. |
Chevelle – Point #1 Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i love this song, it is my favorite on the first cd, however "wonder what's next" is a better all around cd. chevelle is POSSIBLY the best band in existence ove the last 10-15 years. |
Evanescence – Tourniquet Lyrics | 20 years ago |
evanescence IS a christian band. read their other lyrics, if the fact that they covered a christian band's song, or, better yet, go to their website, and reas up on them. and the song hasnothing to do with physical suicide. when Christ was crucified on the cross for our sins, He gave us, as fallen humans, the ability to enter heaven, if we so choose. "Christ, tourniquet, my suicide" is one of the most powerful lines i have ever heard in any song, ever. it shows how, when you choose to follow Christ, you lay down your own flesh and desires. in the Bible, it says that we must die to ourselves in order to live for [Christ]. that is what that line means. |
Blindside – Thought Like Flames Lyrics | 20 years ago |
this, if it is not obvious by the name, is my favorite blindside song. anywho, i think it is about a girl who relies on other's veiw of her for her self-worth. i know too many people lik this, and it really hurts, so this song is especially meaningful, not to mention the great lyrics, and how well-written they are. |
Ozzy Osbourne – Mr. Crowley Lyrics | 20 years ago |
hey muzzy, beinga guitarist myself, and able to play both crazy train and mr. crowley, crazy train is clearly the better choice for the higher vote. and as fa as randy as the greatest guitarist of all time, i would put him in the top ten, yes, but even ozzy himself, after hearing zakk's audition/demo tapes after randy's death, said that zakk was BETTER tahn randy. and taht was at the age of 19 for zakk wylde, and he only picked up his first guitar at age 14. so you tell me who is better... |
